Today's episode reprise is #5 of the Top 10 Most Listened-to in 2023. Received a lot of feedback on this episode. Many published studies show people who spend more time on their phones are more likely to experience symptoms of anxiety and depression, low self-esteem, attention deficit, difficulty communicating, and problems with sleep.
So knowing all that, it's crucial to be mindful of our phone use, use phones and other devices in a balanced way, and take breaks from screens to rest and recharge. I'm always trying to be more mindful of my phone and device use by restricting my time on my phone, wearing blue light glasses, and even deleting social media apps occasionally when I feel like I need to pull back. It's important to be mindful of how much time is spent on our devices.

To manage her condition, she had to rely on a wheelchair and sometimes a cane for mobility. Her doctors were uncertain about how to assist her, and after exhausting all available traditional and alternative therapies in an attempt to self-heal, she recognized that these methods were ineffective not just for her but for others as well. Consequently, she made the decision to delve into research on mind healing.

Precious reached out to me in late June soon after I posted on Instagram that I was starting the Live Better Now Run Club to help those who wanted to complete a half marathon, a full marathon, or any other official race in their area. I chose to offer my coaching and time free of charge to test the waters to see if there was any interest. A bunch of people signed up to work with me and today we're still working together. Precious is the first one in the group to finish a race. She had a goal to run a half marathon, which she did, and I'm really proud of her! I wanted to have her on the podcast to discuss all aspects of race day, how her training went, how the training has changed her life, and what she has planned next. Thank you Precious... Today's special guest is Matt Haycox, the host of The Matt Haycox Show podcast. Matt is the embodiment of entrepreneurship and in this episode, he shares the ups and downs of his entrepreneurial journey and what he learned along the way. From a young age, he knew that he wanted to be rich and understood that to get there he needed to be a business owner. To pursue his dream of becoming his own boss and making millions he delved into business books, tried various entrepreneurial ventures, and eventually joined his dad's uniform business, turning it from a significant annual loss into a profit.
After three years in the uniform business, Matt ventured into the world of leisure and, eventually, strip clubs. He aimed to change the image of strip clubs and found success by opening his first club "Wildcats" in the UK. Over the next five years, he expanded his business empire, becoming a lender, property developer, investor, and father. However, in 2008, he faced financial challenges during the credit crunch and lost everything, including personal bankruptcy and he goes into how that all came about.
Undeterred, Matt rebuilt himself by building a strong network, seeking mentors, and learning from his past mistakes. He transitioned from a borrower to a lender, operator to advisor, and investment seeker to investor, funding and supporting the businesses of tomorrow using the lessons learned from his past.

I'm putting all my cards on the table. As is the case with most people I struggle with having constant states of joy. Happiness is something we all strive to have in our lives but happiness is a fleeting fluctuating emotion. We set goals. We work hard toward those goals and achieve what we intended, and achieving those goals brings us a certain amount of happiness and satisfaction, but it's short-lived. After a while, once the moment fades we seem to fall back to a position where it feels like something is missing. So we look for something else to bring us joy and happiness. Maybe it's thinking about something you have planned for the future, or maybe you reflect on something that's already happened in the past that you latch onto to bring you some happiness. Maybe it's setting more goals thinking once we achieve them, It'll bring us happiness. So feeling constant happiness is a chase. For me, a lot of my happiness and my defense from feeling depressed, sad, or anxious has been daily exercise. Daily exercise has so many benefits. Not only does it increase your energy levels, and makes you feel good. It also can boost your confidence. So this episode is about happiness and the constant pursuit of it. Thanks for listening.
