This week I sit down with the Grandfather of NY Redistricting, Jeff Wice of the New York Law School. We go over the bipartisan maps passed by the NY legislature, why they rejected and slightly altered the New York State Independent Redistricting Commission maps. We also look at what went wrong and how it can be altered. Enjoy.

This week I talk about the start of designating petitions today. However because the congressional lines have not been signed into law, Congressional candidates can not walk yet. I also talk about the process now that the congressional lines were struck down by the legislature and what the new lines mean, and when they might be passed. Enjoy.

I talk about the state of NY Congressional redistricting now that the New York State Independent Redistricting Commission submitted bi partisan maps on February 15th. I do a bit od a history lesson going back to 2010 on how we got here and the paths forward for the NYS legislature. I also address the silly conspiracy theories that the NYSIRC had the #NY22 primary in mind when they released these maps. Enjoy.

This week I talk about the party enrollment deadline that is today, Valentine's Day, or as I call it Fall in Love with Your Party Day. We must receive your enrollment change by midnight tonight. I appeared in a panel at the Joint NYS Legislature Budget hearing on local government. I testified about the need to support local county boards with $10 million dollars in Aid to locality funding to help administer the 2024 Presidential election. This week I talk about the first day of the County Wide Hand Count at Onondaga County Board of Elections. We determined winners in 3 of the smaller races but will need 4 or 5 more days to finish the County Clerk hand count. I update on our progress and the process in place.

Today I give an update of where the Onondaga County Board of Elections leaves off going into the Thanksgiving holiday in wrapping up the 2023 election and preparing for the countywide recount. I also pontificate a bit on politics over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Today I talk about the good night Democrats had on this last general election and why that is surprising given the low turnout and the surprising short coat tails of the County Executive. I also detail what is coming next for the 5 races within the absentee margin over the next few weeks. Enjoy.

In my last Czarny Seminar of the year I go over the dos and don'ts of registering to vote for 2023. We have a new online voter registration system as well as a later 10 day deadline.
