Kanchan is an aerospace engineer by training. Early on, she became fascinated with computational fluid dynamics and decided to make her career in this field. Her last stint was in a CFD software development firm that catered to the helicopter industry. She spent some time in the US at Iowa State University. Mumbai after marriage, and presently, she lives in Singapore with her husband and her two lovely daughters (my opinion on their loveliness is liable to change depending on how the day progresses!). As a Product Manager, she is very much in touch with CFD and simulation, while also being involved in the business-facing aspects of technology.

He then earned a Ph.D. in mathematics (algebraic combinatorics) at the University of Michigan and a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Quebec at Montreal. He became interested in other topics and decided to leave academia and switch to industry. After working at Google as a machine learning engineer in the YouTube video recommendations team, he decided to pursue his passion for teaching.
He moved to Udacity as the head of artificial and data science content, where he taught several online courses in machine learning, deep learning, AI, and related topics. He then moved to Apple as a machine learning educator.
Dr. Serrano loves learning new things and always found quantum physics and quantum computing fascinating. For this reason, he became a research scientist at Zapata computing, specializing in the intersections between machine learning and quantum computing, quantum neural networks, etc.
He is the author of the book Grokking Machine Learning, in which he explains machine learning in a friendly approachable way, with stories and pictures instead of formulas. Dr. Serranoโs work in quantum artificial intelligence uses physics, linear algebra, probability theory, and combinatorics.

He moved then to the University of Erlangen in Germany, where he continued research in computational methods for fluid flow, working on extensions to moving grids, multigrid-methods and parallel computing. He spent one year (1992) as a visiting scholar at Stanford University, working with late professor Joel H. Ferziger, with whom he published a book on computational methods for fluid dynamics (4th English and 2nd German edition with a new co-author, professor Robert L. Street from Stanford University). In 1993, he became professor of fluid dynamics at the former Institute of Shipbuilding in Hamburg (later merged into TU Hamburg), where he expanded his research activities to free-surface flows, fluid-structure interaction, cavitation and simulation of turbulence. In 1997, he founded with co-workers a private company which developed and marketed a state-of-the-art CFD-code โCometโ, which had many features dedicated to naval hydrodynamics. The company and the code were sold to CD-adapco in 2002 and professor Periฤ with most of his team left university to work on further software development. At CD-adapco professor Periฤ held positions of the director of software development, director of technology and lastly vice president of technology. In 2014, he started an independent consulting business but continued to work mostly for CD-adapco and, after it was taken over by Siemens in 2016, for the new owner. In 2016 he was elected member of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen (without employment), teaching applied CFD and supporting professor Bettar el Moctar at the Institute of Ship Technology, Ocean Engineering and Transport Systems. He has published as author or co-author over 200 papers and several chapters in edited books.

Based on his fascination for GPU and 3D graphics, Eugen initiated the development of a prototypical GPU-accelerated program for simulating flows as early as 2007 during his studies in aerospace at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). ย ย ย ย ย
Following his studies, he brought the software prototype into an existing spin-off company, which he had previously helped to build through his expertise in HPC and GPU. With the experience he gained, he started his own business in 2013 to develop pacefishยฎ to market maturity as a highly efficient tool for simulating fluid flows. In 2016, he then founded Numeric Systems GmbH. ย ย ย ย ย
Since then, Eugen Riegel and his team have been working on pacefishยฎ, a product he has always believed in and which is characterized by his strong perseverance and enthusiasm for highly efficient software.
