112 - What You Should Know Before Starting In The Gym
A few weeks ago I answered a question on Quora which asked: "What do I need to know before I go to the gym?" I started thinking about what I would tell myself if I went back into the past and spoke to pre-gym me. I came up with a half-dozen pieces of advice I thought would be most valuable. Episode challenge: Email me with a piece of advice you believe would be valuable for first-time gym goers. 111 - Sleep Your Way to Fat Loss
In this episode, I explore briefly how better sleep can lead to fat loss and 8 ways to sleep smarter. Notice, I didn't mention sleeping longer throughout the show. Quantity may not be as important as quality. 8 ways to improve sleep quality: 1. No caffeine after 2 p.m. 2. Minimal screen time at least 1 hour before bed (more is better). 3. Complete darkness in your bedroom, if it emits light, cover it. 4. Ensure magnesium intake is adequate (400mg for me, 320mg for women, daily). 5. Get more natural sunlight throughout the day. 6. Track your sleep and notice the trends. 7. Create a sleep ritual. 8. Can't sleep? Just go with it. Insomnia may be better for you than sleeping pills. 108 - 3 Life Principles I Learned From Ray Dalio
Ray Dalio is the founder of Bridgewater Associates, one of the largest hedge funds in the world. His net worth is somewhere around $16 Billion. I recently finished reading his book Principles: Life and Work and it left an impact on me. My copy is loaded with highlights. In this episode, I share three of my favourite principles from the book but there could've easily been more. If you haven't seen or heard of Ray before, I'd encourage you to check him and his book out. If you're like me, you will learn something. 107 - Turning Have To Into Get To
Every morning I read a page of The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday and Stephen Hanselman. Each of the readings has some timeless life advice but every so often one really strikes a chord. That was the case with the passage I read today. It's such a simple concept I believe can have profound effects in day to day life. Instead of thinking of things as "have to's" consider them as "get to's". For example, instead of having to wash the dishes. Consider it as getting to wash the dishes because you had the opportunity to eat off them. Of course, this can relate to anything and everything but I think it's a simple trick to change the way we view things. 106 - Tips on Public Speaking and Talking to People You've Never Met
In high school, I was captain of the debating team. I've also had the privilege of meeting and interacting with up to 40 different people (sometimes more) a day whilst working at Apple Retail. 103 - Short Term Satisfaction Vs Long Term Gratification
I decided to try a new episode format! Five minutes of Fire Friday's 🔥 Let's see how long I can keep this up. The topic of this episode comes after a few days of thinking about how to balance instant satisfaction and long term gratification. It's a fine line in today's world, especially when you're being pulled a million different directions. There are so many opportunities out there, it's hard learning what to say no to. Here's the article I mentioned in the show: tcat.tc/2rjLvxq Episode challenge: Think about where you're experiencing short-term satisfaction in your life and how can you balance it with long term gratification. Day 80 - I Failed My First Two Years Of University
Perhaps the most important part of learning something new is enjoying what you're learning. It took me two years of failing courses at university to realise that. After I started studying something I enjoyed, my marks skyrocketed. I now apply this principle of enjoyment to everything I learn. Day 79 - My First Time Speaking In Public
I gave my first ever public speech when I was 11 years old in 2004. It was called "The Wacko Watch". It was a smart watch (that wasn't a term back then) that could do a whole bunch of cool things. I remember how scared I was getting up in front of a crowd. Those feelings are replicated every time I make a podcast/record a video on YouTube. I've just learned how to redirect them into a different kind of energy. In this episode, I talk about my experience making a podcast for 78 days and tell some stories about my experience public speaking. Daily challenge: Reflect on something that has made you nervous in the past, why? How did you get over these feelings? Thank you all for listening! YouTube video will be up in a couple of days! Day 78 - Disagree and Commit, Words of Wisdom from Jeff Bezos
Disagree and Commit is a saying frequently used by Jeff Bezos. It's a way of making decisions faster. You can far too long being in disagreement with someone for what it's worth. I picked this up when reading his annual letter to Amazon customers, employees and shareholders. There's a lot to learn from this very successful founder and CEO. In this episode, I talk about some of the key takeaways from the letter which resonated most with me. The full letter is available here: bit.ly/2pBsX7E YouTube video of podcast: youtu.be/wpw-xODKt4I

Day 77 - Finding The Right Medium
Over the past few weeks, I've been increasing the amount of media I've been putting out. This has been through podcasting, uploading videos to YouTube and writing on my blog. I'm using so many different outlets so I can find the best one for me. So far, I'm loving all three of them. Making a podcast or YouTube videos or writing blog posts was always something I would look at but thought I would never do. Now I'm doing all three. It's scary but it's so much fun. I highly recommend giving it a go to everyone. Daily Challenge: Complete a free meditation session on the app Headspace. Day 76 - I'm Camera Shy
Recently I started recording the podcasts I make and turning them into YouTube videos. I'm still camera shy but I'm getting better at it. Just like when I started the podcast, I was nervous but now I love doing it. Slowly but surely, I'm confident I'll feel the same with YouTube. In this episode, I talk about my recently experience uploading to YouTube, sharing my work publicly and how I recently used the NASA trick to talk to some girls at the gym. Daily challenge: Do something you've been wanting to do for 1 minute. Start with 1 minute, if you end up doing it for longer, that's a bonus. YouTube version of this podcast: youtu.be/Tluc_B3oFBw

Day 74 - My Instagram is Fake
What do the recent four posts on my Instagram have in common? They're all of me shirtless. That's not me all the time. I don't always have perfect lighting and someone around to take 100 photos of me to get the right one. Recently, I've been exploring new ways of being creative. Instagram is one of them. Fitness is a large part of my life but I'm not good at the business side of things. If I want to be a fitness entrepreneur, I've got a lot of work to do on the business side of things. In this episode, I talk about how I realised what one of my main weaknesses is and the feedback I gave myself from the previous video (see Day 73 for more). I filmed this episode! Our intelligence is limited by cognitive bias. But what is cognitive bias? So far there are around 200 cognitive biases that are known. In this episode, I went through the four main categories that each of these biases can be classified under.
