According to Sci-Faith
By Josua Göcking
Find out and see the world according to Sci-Faith.
"According to Sci-Faith" is the official english podcast of Sci-Faith. Regularly new episodes on the topic of science and faith are published here.
Sci-Faith expresses the conviction that science and faith can be combined without any problems.
My vision is to show, that if science is built upon faith it can be more fruitful, than if it denies faith.

On Apologetics
In this episode we discuss the topic which most christian scientists highly focus on: Aplogetics.
We answer the question if this focus is legit and whether there are also other topics to focus on.
Also I give my opinion on what I think is the purpose of science from a christian viewpoint and how one can implement this into the scientific process.
Sci-Faith and the Magi
When talking about science and faith I have often realized that many have the impression that those are absolutely not compatible. In my book I show that this is not the case and that these fields have more in common than you might think. Furthermore, I do not believe that it is impossible for a scientist to believe. Even atheistic scientists can, as I believe, find God and this even in their scientific knowledge. For this an openness towards faith and a longing to know the truth is needed.
Interestingly enough, the Bible shows in the Christmas story how people that seem to be far from God can find them in their mundane life. In this episode I will examine the biblical story of the Magi and draw conclusions regarding Sci-Faith i.e. the compatibility of science and faith.
Culture vs. Counter Culture
What is a culture?
What is the counter culture?
How are we as christian to engage in what is often called a culture war?
Are we to take a side? And if so, which one?
How was this issue approached in the Bible, especially from Jesus?
And what does this have to say about science?
In this episode I take on these questions.
First I give an overview of what a culture is and what counter cultures are.
Afterwards we look in the Bible for answers about how to engage in the culture. It's an interesting topic and I do my best to keep it as apolitical as possible.
The Fruit of Faith
At Sci-Faith we regularly talk about how faith is not only true but also fruitful. This fruitfulness of course is a consequence of faith being true. If one assumes this to work also in the opposite direction, faith being fruitful would imply it being true.
Therefore, to evaluate whether a faith is based in truth it helps to consider its fruit. But what fruit does (or did) the christian faith produce?
To see this we will dive in to history and consider the influence faith had on society and especially modern science.
An interesting and hopefully enlightening episode about the impact of the christian faith.
Should Christians 'Trust the Science'?
'Trust the Science'. This term has been thrown around throughout media especially during this pandemic.
But what does this statement even mean?
Does it make sense to blindly trust what science says?
Should we as christians then also trust the science?
To understand this we need to first understand what science actually is and how it works. Therefore, in this episode, Josua Göcking will give a brief introduction to the workings of science and also a recommendation on which we as christians are to take.
Is Jesus' Resurrection a historical Fact?
On Easter we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. But is this story a mere myth or historical fact?
In this episode I show if the claims of the resurrection of Jesus are backed by historical evidence. Furthermore, I explain the meaning of this resurrection from the dead of Jesus.
God's Goodness and Conservation Laws
What do God's goodness and the consverations laws of physics have in common?
Conservation laws are of huge importance in physics. They have been known for a long time, however, certain experiments have repeatedly put them in doubt. This is especially true for the conservation of energy.
In this episode I show how that leads to a similarity between science and faith. Furthermore, I show a correlation of these conservation laws in physics with the characteristics of God, especially His goodness, following the principle that the creation is always a reflection of the creator.
The sudo command and the name of Jesus
The creation is a reflection of the creator. This is a principle which is of great importance when considering science from a perspective of faith. For example the states matter can exist in can be understood as a reflection on the trinity of God.
But not only in nature we find those reflections, but also in systems created by humans. One of the most fascinating examples of this is the relation of the sudo command and the speaking in the name of Jesus.
Can God create a stone so heavy that He cannot lift it?
One paradox that is often brought up in conversations with atheists is how an almighty god is even possible. Because through his almighty power this god should be able to create a stone so heavy, that he himself cannot lift it. However, such a stone would contradict the omnipotence of such a god.
In this episode I show how this paradox can be solved using a gedanken experiment from mathematics. Also we will see what one can learn about the faith from this.
I do this while also attempting to explain this in a way that is understandable for the laymen.
