Dr. Nyarko is a tenured Professor at Morgan State University, where he directs the Center for Equitable Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Systems (CEAMLS) and the Data Engineering and Predictive Analytics (DEPA) Research Lab. With over 25 years of experience in intelligent and autonomous systems, he has made significant contributions to machine learning architectures, computer vision, and knowledge discovery.

During the interview, we explore the evolving landscape of digital citizenship alongside advancements in AI and machine learning. Dr. Nyarko highlights the potential for AI to promote equity in schools and discusses how educators can teach students the necessary skills to navigate the rapidly evolving AI technologies while ensuring their safety and privacy.

Tali is an East Coast Education Director at Common Sense, where she works with educators, families, and children to help them use media and technology for learning. In this episode, Tali talks about how she keeps up with emerging technologies and rapid developments in digital citizenship. She emphasizes the importance of having a foundation of digital citizenship based on the rings of responsibility, which include responsibilities to oneself, to friends and family, and to the broader society. Tali also discusses strategies that teachers and parents can use to make digital citizenship evident in everyday life, including modeling good practices and thought processes, discussing one's own practices and feelings, and engaging in research activities.
