A Parent's Nightmare is Now Saving Lives

A Parent's Nightmare is Now Saving Lives

Marty McNair knew he had to come off the sideline and get into the game shortly after the unimaginable. Their son Jordan passed away after he suffered from heatstroke during an organized off-season team workout during his freshmen season as a football player at the University of Maryland College Park. Along with his son’s mother Tonya Wilson, they started The Jordan McNair Foundation. They knew there was a need to educate the sports community about the issue of heat-related sports illnesses and injuries. Take a listen to see how they’ve grown and spread the word on this important health issue.

We are excited to kick off 2023 with our first podcast of the year. We'll be talking about the PREP-IT program, which is two randomized clinical trials, A-PREP and PREPARE, to compare the effectiveness of two pre-operative skin cleaning solutions, water-based vs alcohol-based, in orthopaedic trauma surgery. Our guests are patients’ advisors Deb Marvel, Jana Palmer, Jeff Wells, and one of the principal investigators, Dr. Gerard Slobogean from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine.
