The Very Unsportsmanlike Podcast

By Que
Me and my callers take sports topics to a place rarely seen or heard. We discuss not only the X's and the O's, but we also discuss how sports is just a microcosm of society. The politics and business surrounding sports are just as interesting as the game itself. Just like a zone coverage defense, we cover all aspects of mainly the NFL and Boxing, but also NBA, NCAA, and more!

2021 NFL Draft Review
Buck, Ray, M&M and I discuss what went down in this year's NFL Draft.  I don't think that anyone had what I would consider an awful draft, but some teams did stand out more than others. NFL Free Agency and Arguments
Buck, Ray, and I discuss what's happening with free agency with a few select NFL teams.  We talk signings and what teams still need to address in order to be Super Bowl contenders in 2021-22. Late in the show, the guys argue over if Drew Brees should have been pulled in their playoff loss and if anyone should take a chance on signing Antonio Brown.  It's a hilarious time as they go back and forth while I just sit and eat my popcorn. Buck, Ray, and I discuss the Carson Wentz trade to Indy.  Who are the winners and who are the losers in that deal?  We also talk about Deion Sanders coaching debut at Jackson State University.  Although he won 53-0, the headlines were about his locker getting robbed during the game. NFL HOF 2021
Buck, M&M, Ray, and I debate the NFL Hall of Fame.  Not the current class, but classes of the past.  Ray takes issue with some of the people who were inducted back in the day.  He considers so many of them as "bums" including Joe Namath and Terry Bradshaw. We have a heated discussion about what the Hall should be and some of its representatives.   These things and more on the Very Unsportsmanlike Podcast! www.podpage.com/15yards

We also talk about who won in the Detroit/ LA Rams trade?  Did the Lions get over by getting a Super Bowl QB and multiple draft picks or did the Rams make out like Bandits with what they think is the final piece of their puzzle? Buck, Ray, and I take a look at the results of the Conference Playoff Weekend in the NFL.  Did Green Bay lose or did Tampa Bay win?  Did you think that the PI penalty with under 2 minutes to go should have been a no-call?  And why was Buffalo kicking so many FGs against Kansas City?  Is Tyreek Hill the most dangerous NFL player in the league? We also talk about the 6 or 7 QBs that could be changing teams in the off-season.  Is Aaron Rodgers leaving GB?  Deshaun Watson out in Houston?  And why do the Rams and 49ers not want their QB's any more? Ray, M&M, Buck and I take a look at the results of the College Football Playoffs.  Did Notre Dame deserve to be in it this year?  Pretty much everyone outside of South Bend thought that they'd get rolled up like they do every year.  But, should they have been there?  And did anyone see Ohio State destroying Clemson like they did?  They treated their defense like a piece of garbage! Harden Goes "AB" and Haskins Gets Fined
Ray, M&M, Buck, and I talk about how James Harden is doing his impersonation of Antonio Brown.  Is he trying to force the Rockets to trade him?  He shows up to camp late and fat and now he's out clubbing and violating COVID protocol.  Should the Rockets send him on his merry way to where he wants to go or should they bench him until he acts right? Also, Dwayne Haskins of the Washington Football Team went clubbin' in a strip club on Sunday without a mask on.  And of course the dummy ended up on social media.  He's been fined $40k and lost his captain status with the team.  Fair or foul? San Diego Sports History w/Scott Hopkins
I recorded a podcast with Californian, Scott Hopkins, back in the summer.  After the podcast (which was about his 30+ year career in teaching), we started to talk about his time covering San Diego sports in the 70's.  He told a few stories about the great San Diego Chargers coach, Don "Air" Coryell and I just had to record and share them with my listeners. One of the greatest offensive minds in the NFL, Don Coryell has roots that run deep in the San Diego community.  One of the stories Mr. Hopkins tells actually involved a college in my home state of Mississippi (small world, huh?). I hope that you enjoy his stories about San Diego sports, Coach Coryell, and how he not only influenced the NFL, but also had an impact on Hollywood (yes, you read that right). www.Anchor.fm/15yards

Skip Bayless v. Dak Prescott's Depression
Brandy J. Flynn joins the show to discuss the recent commentary of the controversial FOX Sports commentator, Skip Bayless. Normally, it's a Skip Bayless tweet that upsets folks, but this time it was live and on the air on FOX Sports.  Dak Prescott, quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, recently revealed that he was depressed over his brother's suicide back in April.  A lot of people don't know what depression looks like.  Was Skip out of line when he questioned Dak Prescott's mental toughness because he chose to express himself publicly? Brandy is a mental health specialist as well as a mental health analyst in sports.  She was the first person who came to my mind when I wanted to discuss this topic.  So, I'm bringing to you professional's point of view on whether it was fair or foul for Skip to belittle Dak as the leader of his team because Dak showed vulerability. You can connect with Brandy at www.BrandyJFlynnCCS.com. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline contact phone number is (800) 273-8255. Show #3
