It's our Christmas in July episode!!! We celebrate by taking a page from Christmas classic, It's a Wonderful Life. What would the world be like if One Direction didn't exist.... Who would have been famous? Who would have been sitting in a pub in Ireland doing very Irish things? We hope the answers to these questions aren't too obvious, because we definitely discuss them for an extended period of time! Plus, conversation about hotel fights, Ed Sheeran's latest music video, and Barack and Michelle's breakup. 

For years, people around the world have been asking, begging, what would 1D look like if they came about in the age of TikTok? Well, babes, we have an answer for you. Today, we discuss how 1D may have developed if they rose to fame in 2020. We talk each of the boys’ hypothetical TikTok styles, the Masked Singer, and the importance of Addison Rae. Also includes a lengthy discussion of names and, again, a brief discussion of beverages.

This week, Lauren and Sophie provide some #context on last week’s ep with an expansive look into Liam’s dating history. Has Liam had any age appropriate relationships? What’s his romantic history with Leona Lewis of Bleeding Love fame? Also, Ed Sheeran? Again? We answer all this & more in a very special “actually it's really just another episode” ep!

Okay we are back again!! After an exhaustion-induced hiatus, Lauren and Sophie have returned with a breakdown of Liam's various ships (LiLo, Ziam, Lirry, and Niam). Which ship is the best? Today, Lauren and Sophie reexamine the incident by reviewing a popular Buzzfeed article that highlighted the key arguments behind Babygate. Our first post-independent-study episode! We really take “non-academic” to heart in what is, objectively, the worst episode of all time. Intended to be an NSFW episode, this episode ultimately turned out to be a twisted, unintelligible conversation about basically nothing. The only true narrative in this episode follows the hero’s journey of our live studio ant. Please listen at your own discretion. 

Welcome to our final academic episode!! We finish out our independent study with a discussion of the lasting cultural impact of One Direction - their legacy, if you will. Lauren tells Sophie about her takeaways from 1D's career, the power of the ordinary, and the BTS army. Plus, an extended discussion of the boys' hypothetical exotic pets, featuring a listener responses! 

It’s here! Our fan fiction ep! In the second-to-last episode in our academic series (before the pod goes off the rails), we discuss the history of the fanfic and what that means to 1D fans in particular. In a truly unprecedented event, Sophie talks about Star Trek somewhat extensively. We get into the moral controversy surrounding fanfic about real people, the age divide in the 1D fandom, and the power of imagines. Plus, hear an intense and perhaps irreparable disagreement over which boy would write the best Doctor Who fan fiction. You don't wanna miss!!

This week, Lauren and Sophie come to you from North Carolina in a heroic return to our favorite topic: One Direction. Last episode, we talked about the history of the fangirl. Today, we take a deeper look at the One Direction fandom and examine how this history applies to Directioners. We talk teen magazines, internet language, and the difference between Carrots and Directionators. If you love One Direction, this is your episode! As they all are, of course.

This week, we take a step away from 1D (for like two seconds, we swear) when Lauren tells Sophie about the history of the fangirl! Do you love Franz Liszt? We cover him. The Beatles? On it. NSYNC? What really happened on March 25, 2015? Today, Lauren tells Sophie about the details of Zayn's departure from 1D and all of the fallout. We look at Made in the A.M., the boys' solo careers (or, occasionally, lack thereof), and the longevity of 1D's legacy. Travel back in time with us! In more ways than one (this episode was recorded in the beginning of March, because our production timeline doesn't abide by traditional laws of science or logic)!
