3rd Intermission

It might be July but the episodes of The 3rd Intermission are still coming to you!

On the latest episode, we welcomed our first active player to the podcast as Avry and Sebastian chopped it up with Marc Johnstone of the Pittsburgh Penguins!

The guys got into Marc's journey in the game, signing his first NHL deal with the Pens, experiencing hockey in Toronto and Newfoundland, and what it means to see another Black player succeed at the pro level!

The hockey season may be winding down but the 3rd Intermission is still here! Marsha takes the lead on the latest episode as she's joined by Jason, Dave, and Troy!

The crew got into the Stanley Cup Final, the continued collapse of regional sports networks and their effect on NHL broadcasting, Connor Hellebuyck's future, and more!

This week's show was recorded a little bit later, hence the later upload but the content is always solid!

Dave, Marsha, Jason, and Avry got into more Leafs GM options, the end of the World Hockey Championships, Matthew Tkachuk moving the needle as a face of the NHL in America, hockey broadcast presentation, and more!

Dave, Avry, Jason, Troy and REESE! Yes, Reese get into all things on the first round of the NHL playoffs in the first half of the show.

In the second part of the pod, one of the coolest people in hockey also joins the show! Samantha Chang from The Broadscast, Steve Dangle Podcast Network (Game Over: Vancouver), and Yahoo Sports Canada's Zone Time hopped on to chat with Dave, Marsha Avry, and Jason to chat about the Canucks season, playoff talk, and diversity among hockey content creators (Interview starts at 1:38:03 mark).

Avry, Jason, and Troy are at the controls for this episode! The guys go around the hockey world and get into U of Toronto's Jett Alexander going in between the pipes for the Leafs, a chat on the Women's World Hockey Championships, NHL playoffs talk, and more!

The NHL Trade Deadline has officially passed so it only makes sense that the squad got together to talk about how it all went down! From all the moves leading up to 3 pm on Friday to the media presentation all around you'll have a blast listening to this one.

DAVE'S BACK. And he's decided to choose violence again for the umpteenth time! The crew looks into how things are going into the season so far  with a look into the top and bottom 5 teams over the last month, makes fun of Arizona but also at the same time, looks into how much of a good time it is in Mullet Arena at ASU, gives another take on the current landscape of hockey in Canada right now and much much more! While it's no secret that we're fans of of the LeafDem and the Oilers, We actually dive into how the Canucks (shudder) are doing with their recent stroke of luck. Finally, we check in on the Leafs as they return home from a nightmare of a West Coast road trip,

All that and more violence as we grace the space in between your head top. Let's go. 

Another day, another upload with the 3rd Intermission crew!

This week, we tackle how the Leafs are doing as they challenge for Lord Stanley this year and give a breakdown of the Leafs thus far; we go over Murray's injury and if we need a contingency plan in place; and also The People's Champ, The Rock comes through to The Big Bank Arena. Did anyone say to him it was Go Leafs Go?

All this, the nonsense with the digital ads on the boards and much more!

Avry takes the reins on todays episode, ever so slightly channeling the out-of-pocketness that Dave provides as he is a healthy scratch this time around. The preseason vibes are going strong, so the squad talks about how the #LEAFDEM are doing thus far in what is a REAAALLY LONG time before the hockey season begins. Then surprise surprise we gotta mention the wild ride that is John Tortorella coaching once again. How long do you think he's going to last?

What would the preseason be without us feeding into the rumour mill discourse of the NHL? You'll hear some interesting takes on this one, let us know what you think is going to happen before the first game of the season! Last but certainly not least we go around the metaphorical table to discuss which teams we think are going to take a step forward as we kick off the hockey year and who will take a step back.

WE'RE BACK AND IT FINALLY FEELS GOOD TO BE HERE.

The revolution of hockey begins as we finally take back to the airwaves. Changing lives, telling the powerful stories, all in the name of hockey and Blackness. We start with Dave and Avry breaking down their synopsis of BLACK ICE, a Black Canadian hockey documentary that focuses on telling the origins of Black hockey with the Coloured Hockey League, as well as the current generation of Black athletes playing this beautiful game.

And then BOOM, we have an interview with Hockey Night in Canada's DAVID AMBER, Black Hockey Man of Mystery himself. He comes through on the show and lets us know about his time within the annals of sporting media, and of course, lets us know where to get a good lineup while traveling for SN and HNIC. It's a good listen still.

Well, it took a bit but we're finally back on track for 2022! After taking a much needed break, we're back talking trash about other teams and staying loyal to the #LEAFDEM! Dave get's called out for his opp behaviour though, and it's about damn time but that's not why we're here. It's crunch time as we gear up to the Stanley Cup Playoffs in just 2 short months. 

We also discuss Team Canada's performance in Beijing on the men's and women's side as well. It's bare action in this place. Let's go. 

Well folks, it took some time and some work, but we got a legend on the track. That legend is none other than NHL legend and Black hockey history himself, GEORGES LARAQUE! A Montreal native who was more than glad to come through and tell us stories about his career, his playing style, and let us know what he was up to! Also Dave might have slipped up here, so don’t roast him too hard for it.

We’re hoping that more Black hockey players come through on the Pod as this is the surprise we wanted to offer for #BlackHistoryMonth! As we always want to point out, and make completely clear, Black history is not just one day, but everyday. *Note* This was recorded in November and the audio may cut out a bit, we do apologize.

Well folks, we're back once again with a new episode today. After a good hiatus and well needed break, we're back uploading for episodes! And for good this time too. We're making fun of our boy Avry but also catching up on the week that was. We'll admit everything is a little dated for this episode as this was done back in November  of 2021, but we got some jokes and analysis that we needed to drop. Enjoy!

We back again! We break down what was gwannin with the #LEAFDEM for the week as they were pushing through their hot streak back in November!
