Ep. 5: Write State of Mind with Kandi Steiner
In this episode, we chat with bestselling author, Kandi Steiner! In this episode we discuss: Fear in terms of writing what scares you and taking leaps into authorship Writing Full-time and the mindset required for that Failure after success and when a book launch doesn’t go as planned Imposter syndrome How Kandi takes care of her mind outside of writing Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal. An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die-hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs. When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer, and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order. If you’d like to start reading Kandi’s books, check out Book one in the Becker Brothers series: Love on the Rocks. You can also visit her Amazon page for more books! Kandi hangs out on Instagram, Twitter, her Facebook page, and her Facebook group (Kandiland). Ep. 4: The Write Meditation: Rest Enhances Production (Free Session)
In this episode, we're doing something special for our audience and writing community. We're delivering a free meditation session for writers from our on-demand class, The Write Meditation for Stress and Anxiety with Rita Sotolongo. The meditation session we’re giving away for free today is from Day 4 of the class and it’s called “Taking Time to Rest Enhances Production.” The reason we're putting this session on the podcast is because it will be easily accessible. You can listen to this meditation session over and over and it will be easy to take it with you. Rita Sotolongo is a published poet and registered yoga teacher in Orlando, Florida. Over the years, she’s learned to integrate her two passions in order to keep sane in a chaotic world. This led to the development of her method for self-discovery combining yoga with writing—a practice she shares in workshops intended to help people breathe and break through mental, emotional, and creative blocks. Her publications include poetry in Black Fox Literary Magazine, Parentheses Journal, and Petite Hound Press as well as a short story in the 2017 Florida Writers Association annual collection, and one in the 2018 Demonic Household Anthology. She is a wife, mother, and step-mom, and when not writing or practicing yoga, she spends her time navigating the domestic arena. Learn more about Rita by visiting yogaandwriting.com.
