AK47 S2E39: Becoming An Apologist Without a Degree, with Richard Porter
In the next episode of Kyle's apologetics series, he has Richard Porter on to talk about how you can learn apologetics without having to spend years of your life and thousands of dollars of your money getting an advanced degree. We get to know how Richard became a Christian and got into apologetics, how to learn apologetics effectively, the usefulness of verbal and written debates on the truth of Christianity, Richard's views of Reformed Epistemology and Lydia McGrew's approach to arguing for biblical reliability, the importance of mentors and reading hard books, and more.

AK47 S2E38: A Commentary on Nacho Libre. . . But Not Really
Aaron and Kyle get together to do their very first film commentary. We watch Nacho Libre and talk about it. . . Though we mostly end up talking about politics, American history, and related topics. After the movie is over, we continue talking about church involvement in the lives of its single congregants. We encourage you to watch the movie with us during the course of the episode, but you don't have to in order understand or benefit from our conversation.

AK47 S2E37: The Weight of Glory by C.S. Lewis and Other Topics
Aaron and Kyle talk about C.S. Lewis's influential sermon, The Weight of Glory, what its message is, and how it affected their lives. They also talk about C.S. Lewis's other book, Till We Have Faces. Eventually, they start talking about idolatry, what it is, and how to tell if you're idolizing something or not. They then end off by talking about what's going on with their lives and COVID.

AK47 S2E36: Our Experience As Talbot Philosophy Students

AK47 S2E35: Responding to Atheist Tweets Part 2
Kyle and special guest, Tripp Parker (M.A. in philosophy from Duke), continue responding to Jay Beecher's tweet thread claiming that Christianity is based on pagan myths, the Bible has many errors, and more.

AK47 S2E34: Responding to Atheist Tweets
Aaron and Kyle bring on a special guest, Tripp Parker (M.A. in philosophy from Duke), to talk about a tweet thread from Jay Beecher arguing that the Bible is copied from pagan myths and makes a bunch of historical errors.

AK47 S2E33: Coronavirus Crossover
Podcast Spectacular crossover between Ak47 and the New Worlders!

AK47 S2E32: Socialism and More
Aaron and Kyle discuss socialism, capitalism, presidential candidates, and government control, to the best of their ability at least. As usual, their conversation takes several turns. They talk about how technology will change our lives at home, how we work, and how get get an education, medicare for all, and they warn everyone to not catch the Coronavirus.

AK47 S2E31: Star Wars
Aaron and Kyle give their thoughts on the new Star Wars movie, Rise of Skywalker, and other Star Wars movies and shows. They talk about the animated Star Wars series, The Clone Wars and Rebels, the new Mandalorian show on Disney Plus, The Knights of the Old Republic games, and the Shadows of the Empire series. They also briefly get into politics as well. Expect major spoilers for Rise of Skywalker and a few spoilers for the other shows as well, though they mostly avoid spoilers for the animated T.V. shows.

AK47 S2E30: Professor Augustine returns
Teacher of Philosophy returns to discuss dualism, hylomorphism, and other stuff. He's got a new book coming out too!

AK47 S2E29: Video Games, Movies, and Culture

AK47 S2E28: Joshua Harris and Purity Culture
Aaron and Kyle talk about the recent Unbelievable? discussion between the apologist Sean McDowell and filmmaker Jessica van der Wyngaard on Joshua Harris's recent fall from faith and the effect his book, I Kissed Dating Goodbye, on the church and "purity culture." We have our usual sidetracks in the conversation where we bring up people and topics like Steve Chalk, David Bentley Hart, Quillette, and evolutionary psychology, but we give our overviews of how Sean and Jessica did in the conversations, what purity culture is, people being in the internet spotlight from an early age, the sexual lives of Old Testament figures and h ow purity culture handles it, what we suspect Harris might do next, dating, and more.

AK47 S2E27: She really is a feminist, we promise!
Libby Emmons is back! She discusses metoo, drugs and miniskirts and loads of other inappropriate stuff with Aaron. You can find her writing all over the place. Just google Libby Emmons and you'll find some controversial topic that she's opinionating all over.
Also, and this isn't the first time, the explicit tag is on here for a reason. Whenever we tag something with the dreaded E it's because naughty words are spoken. Aaron is just sick of taking the time to put bleeps in when no one really cares that much about naughty words anymore.

AK47 S2E26: Interviewing Paul Vanderklay on Jordan Peterson
Paul Vanderklay, a pastor in Sacramento and avid Youtuber, joins Kyle to talk about the Canadian clinical psychologist, Jordan Peterson, and the phenomenon surrounding Jordan Peterson. We talk about what makes Peterson fascinating to people, his approach to the Bible, his view of God, his affect on people, and how the church and culture at large are reacting to him.

AK47 S2E25: Paul Gottfried debunks Cultural Marxism
The audio on this episode is horrible but the content is excellent. Remember we're only semi-pro pod casters and still use guerrilla podcasting tactics. In any case Dr. Paul Gottfried is easily one of the most accomplished guests we've ever had on the show and next time Aaron will make sure the audio is fitting for a scholar of his immensity.

AK47 S2E24: The Chappelle Special, Comedy, and Joshua Harris
Aaron and Kyle are back after hiding in the shadows for way too long! They discuss Chappelle's new comedy special on Netflix, comedy in general, and a little bit about what recently happened to Joshua Harris, the author of I Kissed Dating Goodbye. Of course, politics are big part of the conversation as well. About an hour and 26 minutes into the recording you'll notice a pause because we ended up having some technical difficulties and had to cut our conversation short, but we'll try to continue the Joshua Harris conversation when we're more prepared in a future episode.

AK47 S2E22: Mark Hemingway 3x
Mark Hemingway is back to help Aaron break down the recent intramural Conservative debate between First Things and National Review, a debate that apparently everyone else wanted to have also. It started with this piece by Sohrab Ahmari and then mushroom clouded over the entire internet. Mark pointed out that this is really a continuation of the debate sparked by Patrick Deneen in his now infamous book Why Liberalism Failed. There is no easy way to characterize this debate because it stems from the fundamentally anti ideological philosophy of Edmund Burke. This quality continues to be both the main strength of Conservative thought and also the point of tension that has generated endless debate.
Also check out Mollie Hemingway's (Mark's Wife) book on the Kavanaugh Debacle coming out soon. It's gonna be a massive success!
And of course Mark gives us new music recommendations! Check out our third Hemingway Spotify Playlist.

AK47 S2E20: Our Mother's Day Episode aka A Feminist Shunning
Today's episode is with a very special guest from The Federalist writing family: Libby Emmons! She's a playwright, cultural commentator, a mother, the wife of David Marcus. Basically she's awesome and we've been meaning to have her on the show for a while but it was this article on the Roxanne Gaye vs Christina Hoff Summers debates in Australia that finally moved the pieces. Aaron promised to link to a bunch of stuff in the show notes, but he and Kyle are both experiencing Familial difficulties at the moment so none of their recent promises mean anything at the moment. Google Libby Emmons, she's written all over the place!

AK47 S2E19: The Chesterton School appears on Apologetics.com Radio
The Chesterton School (Aaron recently became a co-director there) appeared on Apologetics.com Radio. That's right! AK47 has managed to get itself onto the real airwaves! Hopefully not for the last time...

AK47 S2E18: Topics in Politics, Discourse, and More
Aaron and Kyle come together to discuss various issues in politics, discussion, arguing logically, the state of discourse, and more. Aaron tells us about his recent radio appearance and work at a private Christian university, we talk about everyone's desire to control others, Kyle expresses an unusual amount of frustration with how stupid and evil people are, we talk a little about the Mueller Report, and the recent backlash that Nathan Pyle, the creator of the Strange Planet comics, experienced over a tweet a couple of years ago.

Jesse the Jabi Bonus Episode
Aaron's friend Jesse comes on the show to correct all the misconceptions of MKs that Paul and Aaron created. Caution! The content of this episode is not appropriate for...humans

AK47 S2E17: Hello Mike3!
Aaron and his new philosophy friend from Florida chat about God's existence, mysticism, Buddhism, reformed theology, and some other stuff.

AK47 S2E16: Hollywood and the Unplanned Movie
Aaron and Kyle talk about Hollywood, whether or not we should give our money to them, the Unplanned movie about Abby Johnson's life, and abortion in general.

AK47 S215: The Return of the Socialist!
Aaron's friend Alex (the "Bernie Bro") is back to do some political punditry. They cover the Democratic Jungle of presidential candidates and explore issues like how Beto raised more money than Bernie. The sound is not fantastic, due to some technical difficulties.

AK47 S3E14: The Paul Rises Again Episode II
Paul Smith and Aaron continue their bizarre/epic discussion of being Missionary Kids in the Philippines!

AK47 S1E5: Singleness in the Church
This was sort of a "lost episode" from back when we were going to do two separate AK47 podcasts, one long form hosted on our blog and a short form semi weekly on Anchor. Obviously we went exclusively with Anchor since our original idea was very dumb. This episode was a four conversation between Aaron, Kyle, Kyle's Eastern Orthodox friend Gregg Webb (who happens to be gay) and Aaron's friend Brian Sterling. The main subject of discussion was singleness in the church. The audio quality is quite poor, this was recorded in a completely different way than we do now. You can see how far we've come!

AK47 S2E13: The Paul Does Rise Again!
Old RTV episode where Paul Smith and Aaron jabber jaw about being missionary kids!

AK47 S2E12: Joy to the world!
This is a very special episode for me (Aaron) because our guest today is the Executive Editor of The Federalist! That's right Joy Pullman! She has been my editor, mentor, and friend for the last couple of years so finally getting to speak with her was true JOY! And besides all that Joy is a pretty big deal. The Federalist has essentially become the epicenter for opinion journalism on the American right in large part because of Joy's tireless efforts to cultivate a community of writers, mostly brilliant conservative women. She's regularly a featured guest on places like NPR and Fox news. So our humble podcast is very very honored that she agreed to speak with us.
We discuss a lot of stuff but the most important things concerned American education. Joy specializes in education journalism and has written an entire book on common core.
Links to resources:
1. Joy's Book "Education Invasion"
2. The Federalist article on "Federal School Choice"
3. Joy's ebook "Classic Books for Ages 3-7"
4. Her appearance on Tucker Carlson
5. My all time favorite episode of The Federalist Podcast where Joy interviews Charles Murray and explains why her family left the Beltway Bubble

AK47 S2E11: Becoming an Apologist Without a Degree, With Clinton Wilcox
Kyle continues his series on becoming an apologist without getting an advanced degree by interviewing Clinton Wilcox. Clinton is a Christian, but he mostly engages in pro-life speaking and debate. He has defended the pro-life position in both written and verbal form for years and he has done this without getting an advanced degree. Despite this, he is very intelligent and informed on the topic. In this interview, I ask him how he got into pro-life apologetics and how people can prepare themselves to intellectually defend the unborn without having to spend thousands of dollars and years of time getting a degree.

AK47 S2E10: Spiderman Into the Spider-Verse and More
Aaron Gleason and Kyle Hendricks come back together for another B.S. episode. We talk about our love for the new Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse movie, which recently won an Oscar. We also talk about other films, T.V. shows, and anime. We talk about why the new animated Spiderman was good, how it compares to the other Spiderman movies, superhero movies in general, how these movies and anime handle drama and humor, which movie had the better Kingpin, and more. Despite talking about our favorite entertainment, we still couldn't help but get political in the second half. We talk about critical theory, intersectionality, and racism.

AK47 S2E9: The Paul will rise again!
This is an old episode from the ResistanceTV days where my good friend Paul Smith and I discuss our top ten board games. The intros and outros are intact from the original.

AK47 S2E8: Bring on the Bernie Bros!
In this episode I (Aaron) discuss Democratic Socialism with a friend of mine who happens to be a Democratic Socialist! Hooray for Civility and freedom of thought!!! Alex (my friend) and I are political polar opposites in many ways but as you'll see genuine Conservatives and some socialists have more in common than many would like to admit. The sound isn't great but I thought it was worth it to talk to Alex in person, that's always the way I prefer to record. And AK47 would like to thank him for allowing us to record at his place and for giving us his valuable time.
The books I recommend during the discussion are:
1. Alienated America and Obamanomics both by Tim Carney
2. Tribe by Sebastian Junger (that may not come up in the episode, I may have recommended it to Alex before we started recording)
3. This is the most important one for this discussion: Lost Connections by Johann Hari

AK47 S2E7: Becoming an Apologist Without a Degree, With Cameron Bertuzzi
Cameron Bertuzzi of Capturing Christianity joins us today in the third installment of Kyle's series of interviews on how to become a competent apologist and have a good apologetics ministry without getting a formal, graduate-level education at a university. Cameron gives advice on how to start an apologetics ministry, the importance of knowing how to market your platform, how to learn apologetics content, and how to handle the fear and anxiety that can come from discussing and debating your faith with skeptics.

AK47 S2E6: The Return of the Heminator
Aaron Gleason has Mark Hemingway, formerly of the Weekly Standard, back on the show. They give their thoughts on the government shutdown, the border wall, Trump, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Green New Deal, free markets, and more.

AK47 S2E5: Becoming an Apologist Without a Degree, With Evan Minton
In this episode, I interview Evan Minton of Cerebral Faith. I ask him how he became a Christian, how he became interested in the intellectual side of the Christian faith, and why he decided to start a blog on the topic. I ask him for advice on how to become a good apologist without a formal education, how to deal with anxiety about having discussions or debates with skeptics, his more controversial theological opinions, and where we can read his stuff. We also talk about some of our nerdy hobbies like video games and anime, with an emphasis on Pokemon and Zelda.

AK47 S2E4: Becoming an Apologist Without a Degree, With Sam Harper
In today's episode, I interview Sam Harper, who blogs at Philo Christos.

AK47 S2E3: From Augustine to James
I (Aaron) have on Philosophy Professor Mark Boone to discuss William James and Augustine, faith, empiricism, and some other stuff.
Check out his work page for all the relevant articles.
Most importantly though check out his youtube channel.
And also check out ricochet.com. It's the best conservative discussion on the internet.
PS: I make a comment about Sam Harris being a practicing Buddhist, that is strictly speaking not true. I'm going to do either an article or an episode discussing what is about the statement soon.

AK47 Season 2 Episode 2: Milo's Interview on the Eric Metaxas Show
Aaron and I risk our careers to talk about a very controversial figure, Milo Yiannopoulos. We are giving commentary on the recent Eric Metaxas show that Milo appeared in. We talk about the strange disconnect between Milo's beliefs about homosexuality and his lifestyle, how hosts interact with guests on interview shows, whether or not Milo is really conservative, and a host of other issues.

AK47 Season Two Episode 1: The Heminator Himself
We're starting off season two with a BANG! Mark Hemingway (formerly of the murdered Weekly Standard) graced us with his presence. Not physically of course, but Spiritually. We discuss being married to women who make more money than us, free markets, social values, and get some amazing musical recommendations. The Hemingways are notorious music snobs, which means when they recommend stuff its good.
The Music recommendations were:
S. Carey
Big Red Machine
Robbie Robertson, specifically his self titled album from 1987
The Blue Nile
And the Portlandia article can be found here: https://www.weeklystandard.com/mark-hemingway/insufferable-portland
Also Mark sent me the quotation he couldn't remember, and its pretty epic:
"One is reminded of an observation of the philosopher Rémi Brague. “Faith produces its effects only so long as it remains faith and not calculation,” Brague wrote in the 1990s. “We owe European civilization to people who believed in Christ, not to people who believed in Christianity.”" - Reflections on the Revolution in Europe by Christopher Caldwell

AK47 SIE47 The New Worlders Preview Part 4
Alan and I finally bring our long drunken conservative conversation to a close. Season 1 of AK47 is mercifully over.

AK47 S1E46 The New Worlders Preview Part 3
More Conservative Hocus Pocus!

AK47 S1E45 The New Worlders Preview Part 2
Okay so this is the third time that this same episode has been deleted and re uploaded due to "technical difficulties"
The only new thing is that we included the intro for the New Worlders podcast at the very end of the episode. So if you've already listened to this episode just fast forward and listen to that. Sorry for the drama. The third and fourth parts should be up soon. Then Season 2 of AK47 can begin. We may design a new theme for the new season...not sure yet. We're very lazy!

AK47 S1 E44: The New Worlders Launch Part 1
The launch of The New Worlders Podcast, hosted by AC Gleason and Alan Wells. Part 1 of 4.
The New Worlders will be a tangential discussion show about Conservatism. Real conservatism. Not Libertarianism, not right wing, not traditionalism, not reactionism. No, Gleason and Wells will be obsessing discussing genuine conservatism. A new episode should be up every time The Salisbury Review drops over in England. That's the quarterly magazine founded by Roger Scruton, the Godfather of conservatism in our era.
It will also feature a different libation each episode and hopefully a paired cigar or pipe tobacco.
Look for the New Worlders to launch on its own channel eventually.

AK47 S1E43: All About Anime
Aaron and Kyle end the year with another BS episode. This time, we talk about anime. We talk about what even constitutes an anime, what distinguishes anime from non-anime, what even is an "anime style," what shows got anime rolling here in America, a little bit about English dubs, and some good anime series or movies to start out with if you haven't watched anime before.

AK47 S1E42: Bye Bye Bre
Short special episode about Bre Payton and death.

AK47 S1E41: Superhero Movies, Ben Shapiro's Interview with John MacArthur, and other Random Topics
Aaron and Kyle are taking it easy on the heavy topics for the end of the year. They talk about random topics from superhero films, John MacArthur, psychology vs. spirituality, apologetics, the Gospel, and more.

AK47 S1E40: All About Video Games

AK47 S1E39: The Godawa Part II
We're getting pretty desperate to find ways to meet our last 8 episodes so after this one the quality will be going down significantly (merry Christmas). Aaron may even do a couple episodes where he just reads old articles and does some commentary on them. This will be a sad attempt to straighten out some of the more complicated ideas for his alleged book project (cough, everybody needs dreams, cough).
