Medicating Female Health

Medicating Female Health

Do we really know what we're taking and why?

I recently opened up a conversation on a private membership about recent research on certain over-the-counter drugs and their longterm impact. The response was wonderful, and reflective with every single voice welcomed and valued.

What do you think?

The Peri-Pod - A Call To Perimenopause?

The Peri-Pod - A Call To Perimenopause?

It's all starting to change! I'm noticing shifts emotionally, physically and spiritually within and around myself.

But am I too young? Am I being dramatic?

I know my body incredibly well so when things alter, I can seriously feel it and this is why it's so important to learn about yourself and your physiology.

What are your thoughts on the shift (not transition! The word has been done to death) of peri?

Period Pod - Half Term & My Bleed

Period Pod - Half Term & My Bleed

I'm sure you can TOTALLY appreciate the energy needed to support a happy, healthy half term. Add your bleed into the mix and we've got a different experience altogether.

With a trip to London, visiting what felt like everyone we bloody knew, and then a return to Devon, I felt like I'd been hit by a bus. But what do you do?

What about you my love? How did you manage half term?

An Autumnal Yarn with Kate Merrick and Abi Adams

An Autumnal Yarn with Kate Merrick and Abi Adams

This conversation has been long overdue with Kate!

Kate and I share our passion for elemental health as we look at the season of Autumn and how it can elevate or cloud your wellbeing when we ignore the natural rhythms of life and that within our bodies.

Kate is an embodied psychotherapist, writer, intuitive energy worker, and Biodynamic massage practitioner. She specialises in working with anxiety, low self esteem, female identity and post-traumatic growth; ultimately, her intention is to support women to heal and come home to themselves. Kate is deeply connected to walking the path of the ancestors. Her mixed British, African Caribbean and Jewish heritage informs her interest in intergenerational trauma and her passion for sacred earth based ways of healing.

Emotions are both mine and Kates's big love so expect some emotional outpourings and generous doses of expression!

A Perimenopausal Environment of Support

A Perimenopausal Environment of Support

Fuelled by our recent discussions with Suzie Cox and my own experiences heading into my 40's and that perimenopausal transition, I want to speak about the importance of the environment. No matter how many good intentions you have, your environment will always pull out those inner thoughts and feelings until they are heard and seen (no matter how hard you try and hide them).

What are you not dealing with?

Menstruation Relaxation Part II

Menstruation Relaxation Part II

Following on from the previous Period Pod on the energetic approach to the cycle through the Via Positiva and the Via Negativa, we now look at the phases which incorporate menstruation, follicular, ovulation and luteal phases.

Again, each phase offers something different in approach and the way you feed it.

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Menstruation Relaxation Part I

Menstruation Relaxation Part I

The Project Woman members asked how they could relax more around their menstrual cycle? So we've started this series of podcasts with the first layer of the cycle which incorporates the Via Positiva and the Via Negativa; two sides that offer totally different ways of living.

We look at the energetic imprint these two sides offer and how you can approach them.

Project Woman Takeover With Suzie Cox Part II

Project Woman Takeover With Suzie Cox Part II

What an absolute cracker of a conversation part 1 was with our gorgeous Suzie! She really dropped a thought bomb to carry us into this podcast which was "what do I do now"? A question I feel so many women encounter when they hit (literally) perimenopause. But just think of the emotional backlash if you DON'T know you're perimenopausal, like soooooo many women, and continue to push on through?!

Suzie talks about the great nutrition the 70's and 80's offered (NOT), asking the make-up team on Gladiators to make her look less like Nanny McPhee (you have to listen to this one) and one of her biggest tweaks to get her through the perimenopause squeeze was coffee.

Let us know what you thought?

Project Woman Takeover with Suzie Cox Part III

Project Woman Takeover with Suzie Cox Part III

The final chat in this series with Suzie (but not the last)! Suzie openly talks about the impact of perimenopause on the dynamics of her family and for the sake of her family's sanity AND for them to make it out the other side intact, being able to communicate how she felt and what she needed was a major player in keeping it all together.

My favourite part of our conversation is Suzie's realisation that you don't need to be fixed. And that when she speaks to her husband, she just needs him to listen and say that's fine. Because we don't need fixing do we?

Thank you for listening and tuning into these podcasts. If you would like to hear more about Suzie's peri adventure, tune into the Project Woman membership as she shares her notes on getting the best possible sleep (something she's been suffering with since perimenopause started) with tools and tips. Suzie is a big voice in the Peri & Proud space on the membership, inspiring many with her gorgeous advice and big heart. Project Woman Takeover With Suzie Cox

Project Woman Takeover With Suzie Cox

Our first chat with the gorgeous Suzie Cox kicks off with how she had to drop the expectation of being an athlete as her body's abilities and needs changed when entering perimenopause.

Suzie didn't even know perimenopause existed, until 5 years ago when she tried to leave her house for an event and was overwhelmed by an almighty panic attack that saw her sobbing down the phone to her husband. She thought she had loads of time before menopause knocked on her door as that was just for old women!

Get to know your body is Suzie's mantra for this podcast.

An Empowered Voice for Perimenopausal Women - Emily Barclay

An Empowered Voice for Perimenopausal Women - Emily Barclay

I am talking to the powerhouse, Emily Barclay, Menopause Educator at Menowhat and founder of the Perimenopause Hub.

I love how Emily has always found her voice to support her transition through this evolutionary phase of her life. And how her experiences have created life-changing support for women going through perimenopause and beyond.

We talk about the highs and support challenges she experienced.

I would love to hear what you think.

Finding Freedom Through The Menopause with Barbara Claypole

Finding Freedom Through The Menopause with Barbara Claypole

Abi Adams talks to Barbara Claypole about her experience of surgical menopause and how from the chaos, came her opportunity to live her greater life.

We are made to believe that menopause is something to be feared through the awful symptoms it evokes, but what if you got the right support and education before, during and after this evolutionary phase? Somethinb Barbara and I discuss in great details.

Would love to know your thoughts?

Project Woman Mini Moments - Aquarius Moon & Expansive Thinking

Looking into the new moon that is moving its way towards us and the expansion of thought and feeling it offers. It's currently coinciding the Inner Autumn of my menstrual cycle and my ability to reflect and move forwards (something I caught tangled up in).

My intention is to move towards joy and really start to enjoy my life. You?

What's Happening With Women's Health? A Conversation with MP Caroline Nokes

What's Happening With Women's Health? A Conversation with MP Caroline Nokes

Caroline is the Member of Parliament for Romsey and Southampton North and the current Chair of the Women and Equalities Select Committee in Parliament.  Since her election in 2010, she has served as a Minister in the Department for Work and Pensions, the Cabinet Office and was Minister of State for Immigration in Theresa May’s Cabinet.  Immediately prior to becoming an MP, she was the Chief Executive of an animal welfare charity.

Caroline is currently the co-chair of the APPG for Muslim Women, Vice-Chair of “Show Racism the Red Card” and as Chair of the Select Committee is leading the inquiry into menopause in the workplace, the topic I'm interested in discussing!

There's a lot of talk about women's health, but what's really happening behind the scenes? Is it the women that are suffering the only one's speaking up and out? How far have we really come?
