Not many new things here other than a new podcast and review site coming ….

Just a general ramble from the farm here. Just as a general deal, I kind of laugh at the idea of people paying me to talk about their stuff as I don’t have that many listeners (at least at the time this podcast goes online) so find the idea of real advertisers a little funny.

Looking at buying a mixer grinder (or dreaming) as I clean out some IBC totes for future use.

I made a mistake. I have some hand tools with some (mostly) surface rust and want to remove it safely.

I recommend a backhoe, it is a versatile machine which isn’t the best at any one thing, but it is better at a lot of things than any other single machine I can think of. Listen in to hear more!

I have a Ferguson TO-30 I use for a lot of things on the property, it isn’t perfect but the price was right and it works well.

Howdy all. In today’s episode i discuss the poultry (for meat) we have here on the property, as well as a couple pointers about equipment for young birds.

During this episode I discuss what I look for in a vehicle (spoiler, I like 4wd diesel 3/4 or 1 ton vehicles and Ford ranger trucks, opposite ends of the spectrum. It both are handy).

I mostly ramble about trailers and projects and after the break, I give you the simple and easy way to back up a trailer.

After emailing a bit with some folks I realized I needed to do better with this topic so I’ve revisited and am doing deeper dive into electric fencing and training your hogs to respect it.

Going to pare (is that the correct spelling for that word in this context?) down to one episode per week. Listen to hear why.

Here’s another ramble by me, it’s swine time! I talk about the tires of hogs I have here and why, and I discuss some equipment and things to have before you bring any pigs home. This podcast is recorded in one take, so there are pauses as I catch my train of thought, I recommend listening at at least 1.5 speed, after all, I’m a rancher (homesteader, whatever) not an auctioneer!

This evening I discuss how to choose the breed of chickens according to their purpose on your homestead. I also discos general things you need before you get your chicks on the property. One thing I forgot is you WILL need a brooder of some kind.

My plan for animals on the place changed, now I use electric fence whenever I can. I explain how to install it for best effect, what to get or avoid, and how to train your animals to it. I apologize for the background noise, going to have to figure out a better microphone for this I think!
