Why I Don't Include Reading and Writing In My ESL Class Before Age 8
In my method, English is Fun!, we don't introduce children to written English before the age of approximately 8. (Sometimes even 9). This may sound strange to many ESL teachers but insisting on early reading and writing of a second language could make learning to read and write the child's native language that much harder. In this video I explain the reasons why.

First Day Of School Tips That I Wish Someone Had Told Me When I First Started Teaching
I remember my very first lesson with a group of 6 yr olds. I had been teaching ESL for a while but had never taught it to children. My boss had said, "You're young, cute, sweet… you take that class." but in no way prepared me for the experience. Teaching a bunch of little kids a language they've never heard before can be pretty scary. In this video I'll tell you what you really need to know before you even set foot in that class.

5 Questions Kids Should Ask Themselves Before They Go Online
When the only access to the internet was a pc, it was a lot easier for parents to regulate their kids’ use – all they had to do was keep it in a neutral place like the kitchen or living room and voilà, you could easily mix your pasta sauce and keep an eye on what your kids were doing. Now that they literally have the whole world in their hands, kids need to be aware of just how much their use of the internet can affect them and those around them. In this episode I’ll walk you through 5 questions that will get your kids thinking and acting a little more responsibly when online and possibly off their phones and computers (at least for a little while).
