In the first two episodes Stewart presented compelling evidence to support the fact that he believes his biological father could possibly be The Zodiac Killer. In this episode we begin to see cracks in his story,
Gary betrays his mother's trust as he shares intimate conversations between the two of them in the release of his book, "The Most Dangerous Animal of all," which his mother had no idea he was writing.
Gary sees an ABC Primetime documentary about The Zodiac killer, and learns that there is a partial genetic profile on the killer from a print left on an envelope. Gary has tests run, and believes he has more evidence that the Zodiac may be his father.

Picking Up The Pieces - S1 E2
In the second episode Gary Steward sought assistance from True Crime author Susan Mustafa with putting together the pieces of his father's story as the possible Zodiac killer. As we study the story of The Zodiac Killer, we see that he begins sending letters to various newspapers with ciphers to decode. He commits multiple horrific murders, boasts about them, and continuously taunts police. We concurrently learn more about the evilness of Gary’s father. He surrounded himself with Charles Manson followers and was fascinated by the founder of The Church of Satan. We also learn that he was very violent with his wives. We learn that there are many undeniable similarities between his father and The Zodiac killer (ex.Both know how to decipher codes, handwriting samples, similar finger scar, police sketch, Van and The Zodiac were in the same locations). Gary is convinced his father IS the Zodiac killer and decides to make it his mission to find him.

Mr. Zodiac Killer? Oh No, That's My Father - S1 E1
In this episode we are introduced to Gary L Stewart, a man whose feelings of abandonment stemming from being put up for adoption lead him on a quest to learn about his biological parents. We learn about various characters in Gary’s life including the adoptive family members that raised him, We also meet his birth mother, Judy, and we start to paint a picture of the horrific man who was his birth father, Van. We learn about the infamous Ice Cream Romance between Van and Judy. How they were fugitives, captured, and on the fun again countless times. We found out that Judy became pregnant and gave birth to their baby, Gary, and that Van mistreated his son and abandoned him in a stairwell in New Orleans.
An adult Gary sees an episode of a Cold Case show, and sees an uncanny resemblance to a mug shot he has of his father. He first has an epiphany that his father might be The Zodiac Killer.
