Stu and Alex each choose 3 things they'd rather forget about an otherwise perfect decade. Tune in to find out how Stu fell foul of a ruthless PE teacher, what negative musical impact does Alex blame on the end of the Cold War, and which sports team got both Alex and Stu's goats throughout the decade.

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S3 E1 - A Total Gunge Fest (CBBC 2nd December 1994)
Against all odds, IBAITN has been renewed for a third season. Alex and Stu are back with brand new content, but the same old problems...
To kick off the new year, it's Alex's turn to try and convince Stu that he was wasting his time as a CITV kid, and that he should have nailed his flag to the CBBC mast throughout the decade. To try and achieve this, he's picked the schedule from Friday 2nd December 1994, which doesn't disappoint. Join us as we discover which of the listed programmes remains shrouded in mystery, which children's TV legend went on to have their own special edition resin doll, and which legendary voice artist started out on Alex's favourite cartoon, Fantastic Max! Plus, of course, there's plenty of Get Your Own Back chat. Also this time: An unfortunate admin error! A poor 90s quiz performance! The world's least impressive world record! And much, much more...

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S2 E22 - 'From the streets of Las Vegas to the Magic Roundabout' (90s Crimes)

Sometimes on IBAITN the stars really do align, and that's exactly what has happened here. We're delighted to be joined by none other than Peter Lawlor, the man responsible for one of the most recognisable rock songs of the 90s, and a UK number 1 at that - Inside by Stiltskin.

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S2 E20 - 'Smeared across the windscreen of a B reg Cavalier' (The Beckhams with Kate Pro)
IBAITN hasn't got to where it is today by jumping on any passing nostalgia bandwagons. We've always ploughed our own furrow, gone our own way and done our own thing. So it definitely isn't as a result of the success of their recent smash hit Netflix documentary series that we turn our attentions this time to the life and times of David and Victoria Beckham in the 90s. And joining us to discuss the celebrity couple of the decade is returning legend of the pod, Kate Pro! Come with us as we ruminate on how the Beckhams shaped our own lives in the fields of football, music and fashion, plus there's an in-depth examination of David's links with Chippenham!

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S2 E19 - 'Turning into a Labrador at Leigh Delamere' (CITV in Memoriam)
We're caught between downcast and celebratory moods this time on the pod as we finally come to terms with the sad demise of Children's ITV. As he was always the CITV kid compared to the CBBC partisan Alex, Stu decides to take us all on a run through of an average CITV afternoon schedule in the mid-90s (Wednesday 12th July 1995 to be specific) in an attempt to convince Alex that CITV really was as good as, if not better than, CBBC. So tune in to find out which cartoon seemed so scary that Stu never even watched it, which theme tune crops up in Alex's brain every 48 hours and which programme both Alex and Stu consider an underrated gem.

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S2 E11 - 'A Cold Night in Vienna' (Goalkeepers in the 90s)
We're back from our short summer break and we've finally fulfilled Stu's long-held wish and done an episode on goalkeeping in the 90s. Summer is once again upon us at IBAITN HQ, so before the lads, Geoff and Dr De'Ath lock up the office for their two week break in Torremolinos courtesy of Lunn Poly, this time we're taking a look back at some of our favourite 90s holiday memories. Join us as Alex makes the case for the bucolic British camping holiday, Stu yearns for continental carbonated iced tea, and once again we ask the big questions that other podcasts are afraid to address: for what reason are those roped off fruit machine areas in motorway service stations actually there for? Plus all of your excellent correspondence, including ruminations on holiday camp mascots, fart powder and disintegrating caravans.

If we've told you once, we've told you a million times - the Simpsons is the best TV comedy of the 90s. As such we've realised that one episode on it will not suffice, so we're coming back with a new, deeper dive into the show - starting with a look at the first two seasons. We're welcoming new guest - musician and fellow Simpsons fan, Max Goff, to join us in choosing our 3 favourite episodes each. Tune in to find out why Stu has watched the first 6 episodes of season 2 so many times, which of Stu's traits particularly impresses Max and which character is arguably Alex's favourite of the whole programme. It's the start of a new series for the pod as we tackle the computer games of the decade, one year at a time. Being the mavericks we are we've decided to start in the middle of the decade with 1995. We have a look at the sales charts and the award winners before each choosing 3 of our favourite games of the year and delving into what they meant to us and why they deserve remembering. Blue 42, Blue 42 set, HUT!
IBAITN goes Stateside this week as our returningest guest Glyn Joslin joins us to reminisce about following American Football in the UK in the 90s. There's tales of various pilgrimages made to Wembley Stadium to witness the American Bowl pre-season matches which took place during the early half of the decade, as well as some gridiron games which took place nearer to home, at a venue very close to Stu and Alex's collective hearts. Along the way we encounter the Norton Radstock Starlette Majorettes, a moody T-shirt seller, and Bob Turner, who used to live round the back of Stu's nan. Plus, in a new and refreshed What's The Most 90s segment, our friends Roddy and Jack from the How Many Geese podcast join us for an excellent discussion to decide the identity of the most 90s animal!

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S2 E3 - 'DISSOLVE, DISSOLVE' (Random Top 40 music chart #1)
We have a new entry this week - coming in at number 63 in the Wessex-based nostalgia podcasts charts, it's It'll Be Alright in the 90s! That's right, we're talking about the pop charts this week. We've decided to pick a random week from the decade and have a long, hard look at the UK top 40 chart of that week. We've ended up in October 1997 and it surely is a mixed bag. As we're talking about pop music we of course called upon our resident pop expert, Joe Barter, who brings his unrivaled pop wisdom to the pod table. We all give our candid opinions on what's hot and not, and then end by picking our favourites from the chart. Tune in to find out which CD single was especially popular with our grandparents, what on-stage habit disgusts Stu's mum and how many artists we've libeled this week.

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S2 E2 - 'The Health and Safety Gestapo' (Books of the 90s)
Many of our listeners have been wondering when IBAITN is finally going to go highbrow. Well friends, the time is now, as a clause has been inserted into our renewal contract which states that we must at least make a passable attempt to do so (thanks for that Geoff). With that in mind, please join us as we take a look back at some our favourite books of the decade!
As usual we have each selected three weighty tomes to discuss, with some wildcards in the back pocket. Come with us as we pay tribute to the books which introduced the lads to reading as children, which rock legend wrote Alex's favourite ever memoir, and which book Stu withdrew from his local library on so many occasions that they eventually let him keep it.
Also this time: Work experience nightmares! The danger of rotary washing lines! Lulu's Birmingham accent! Ian Culverhouse's height! And much, much more...

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S2 E1 - 'Beverley Bollard's Real Results' (Films of 1992)
Unbelievably we've been renewed for a second series! So we're back by little to no demand and we're carrying on right where we left off - knee deep in nostalgia. To start the new season we're taking our next foray into the films of the decade and it's the turn of 1992 to come under the microscope.
As with our two previous film episodes we run down the box office top 10 of the year, then get dolled-up for the awards season results, before each choosing 3 personal favourites to discuss. Plus we choose an extra wildcard to give a mention to. Join us to find out which film Stu watched because he wanted to be cool like Jon Amor, which film satisfies Alex's craving for slow-motion waterfall jumps, and which impression Stu will sadly never be able to perform on the pod. And of course, we read out all your lovely correspondence.

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S1 E42 - 'Couple Leap From Smouldering Bed' (The Millennium)
Tonight we're gonna podcast like it's 1999! It's a special New Year edition of IBAITN, as we take a look back at the much discussed and anticipated moment we left the 90s behind and moved into the brave new era of the 2000s.
After a short and desperate plea for more listeners in 2023, the lads delve into the myriad of notable events surrounding 31st December 1999. Along the way we revisit Alex's dad's attempt to cash in on the Millennium Bug (alongside his attempt to deal with some inner city car crime), and Stu's struggles with a holiday homework project as well as an underwhelming school trip to the Millennium Dome. Plus we take an in-depth look at the headlines, music and movie charts of the day, and consider the further cultural changes we've experienced since the turn of the Millennium.

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S1 E33 - My Parents Banked on Betamax (Films of 1991)
We're continuing our year-by-year deep(ish) dive of the films of the decade. We've done 1990 so you'll not be surprised to hear we're moving on to 1991. We start with a breakdown of the year's box office and award winners before Stu and Alex each select 3 personal highlights from the year. Stu does his best to avoid the infamous ire of Addams Family die-hard fans and does a very brief impression of Arnie, while Alex makes a bold claim about Alan Rickman, and is scandalised by one of the Golden Raspberry award winners. And needless to say, we read out all your great correspondence.
Also: 90s holiday destinations! Sunkist discoveries! Renting VHS players! And much, much more...

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S1 E32 - Tony Blackburn and an unwell Dulux dog (30th anniversary of the Premier League with Rob from Premiership Years)
It's football's big 3-0 on the podcast this week as we celebrate the impending 30th anniversary of the inception of the Premier League with our special guest Rob from the excellent Premiership Years on Twitter! We look at the classified results from both the first and last game weeks of the decade, and consider such greatly missed phenomena as half-finished stadia, extremely low attendances and the usage of boot laces on shirts. We also take a look at some of the gimmicks Sky attempted to employ in order to sell their 'whole new ball game' to supporters up and down the country, and there's plenty of quizzes and trivia along the way too, as we come to the inevitable conclusion that football was just better in the nineties.
Also: Alex wears polyester in a heatwave! Stu's first FA Cup final! We all like vindaloo! The Flying Postman! And much, much more...

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S1 E31 - 'This Podcast is Disappearing Up it's Own Arse' (Summer Party!)
Summer is here and we're celebrating by finally holding our summer party! We're coming live from the Three Crowns pub in Chippenham and we're joined by dad of the pod Glyn Joslin and our resident pop expert Joe Barter. Joe and Glyn talk us through their favourite cars, games, films, TV and personal memories of the decade, before Stu, Alex and Glyn attempt to play the 1996 Question of Sport boardgame. Along the way we touch upon the surprising magazine Stu read as a pre-teen, the good and the bad of computer game remakes of 90s movies, Bon Jovi gig punters getting upset and ponder whether grunge killed hair-metal?
Also: Stu and Joe try to break the Shazam app, 2-player Gran Turismo, hardcore pub nostalgia, and Crime Traveller with Michael French!

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S1 E30 - 'The Thinking Man's Lada' (In Conversation with Jon Amor)
We’re delighted to welcome another fantastic guest to the pod as we talk to musician Jon Amor about his life through the 90s, a decade which saw him form the band the Hoax and rise to international recognition as part of one the UK’s finest blues bands of the era. We ask him about the rise and demise of that band, as well as his post-Hoax career, before running through our usual guest slot questions – what was his favourite car, film, TV show, album, computer game of the decade, and what one thing from the 90s would he most want to bring back?
Also this time: weeing in defunct DIY stores, children’s authors, Sooty scandals, your correspondence and much, much more...
All the details of Jon's forthcoming shows and back catalogue of releases can be found on his tumblr page: https://jonamor.tumblr.com/ and bandcamp: https://jonamor.bandcamp.com/

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S1 E27 - 'An Adult with a Packet of Skips' (Birthdays in the 90s)
Yet again we've proved the naysayers wrong, we've made it to a year! To celebrate the podcast's birthday we're talking about birthdays in the decade - what were the most popular activities to do as kids in the 90s? What party foods did we eat? And what were our personal favourite presents? Stu and Alex also exchange gifts, run through a recap of the ledger and give out some annual awards, in possibly the least glamorous and under-attended awards ceremony since the last Golden Globes.
Also this time: party bags! what snacks are and are not acceptable for adults in public? Stu's doubting dad! Richard Branston! And lots, lots more...

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S1 E26 - Mama Told Me Not To Smoke (Cigarettes and Alcohol in the 90s with Adam Greenwood)
Is it worth the aggravation, to find yourself a pod when there's nothing worth listening to? This time on IBAITN we're joined by returning guest, brother of the pod Adam Greenwood for an in-depth look at the culture surrounding cigarettes and alcohol in the 90s. Come with us as we revisit Stu's time in the D.A.R.E programme, run down some of our favourite alcoholic advertisements, grieve the untimely loss of the chocolate cigarette and relive Alex's brief moment in the sun as the UK's top player of Fantasy Formula One.
Also this time: a new co-host! Joke shop cigarettes! The Silk Cut man! Cream soda! And lots, lots more...

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S1 E25 - 'My Nan Voted for Father Christmas' (British Politics in the 90s)
IBAITN is getting serious (relatively speaking) in this episode, as we take a stroll down the corridors of power for a look at British politics in the 90s.
We discuss a few key talking points of the decade in politics, from personal recollections from Stu's school days ('fence-building diplomacy' anyone?) to more general thoughts on how popular culture and the media dealt with the goings-on at Westminster and out in the constituencies.
Also this time: standup comics, Badgerline bus sightings, school turf wars, chilli in Stu's eye, and much, much more...

It'll Be Alright In The Nineties - S1 E24 - Crown Toppers and Mattesons (Only Fools and Horses in the 90s with Wil Hodgson)
IBAITN is going for a trip down Hooky Street this time as comedian, comic artist and official barber of the pod Wil Hodgson returns to join us for a deep dive into the 90s era of Britain's favourite sitcom, Only Fools and Horses!
We look at its transition from the pure comedy of the 80s to a 'sitcom soap' hybrid of the 90s, as well as running down our personal favourite moments from this period of the show. We also tackle the thorny issue of whether or not the show should have returned in 2001 after it had been ended so perfectly in 1996 (spoiler - we all agree it shouldn't have), and find out how Boycie himself, John Challis, almost officiated at Wil's wedding!
Also this time: Tom Hardy writes in! OJ Simpson! Woolworths! MVC killed the CD! And much, much more...
Wil's new show 'Barbicidal Tendencies' is going to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer; South West locals can catch it at the Old Theatre Royal in Bath on Sunday June 12th: https://www.komedia.co.uk/bath/comedy/barbicidal-tendencies/
