There are a few different options when it comes to using price gun labels as barcode labels.

1. You can have the entire label custom printed to your liking and use the price gun just to apply the labels.

2. You can custom print the barcode, qr code or any other information needed and leave an opening on the label to allow for the price gun to print the needed information that will need to change periodically, for example, a date code, plu number, price, etc.

Yes, it is possible to print plu labels with a price gun and yes they have FDA approved direct food contact adhesive. We can custom print anything you need on the labels prior to putting in the price gun. We can completely customize the entire label with all the needed info and just use the price gun to apply the labels, but not print on them. The other option is to customize the label but keep an opening available for the price gun the print the plu number or whatever needed on the label with the price gun print head.

You can use a standard square/rectangular label or one of our custom cut oval or round labels that will fit in a price gun.

Price gun labels are used to go in price guns so that you can print different information on the label with the pricing gun print head. You can spin the dials on the print head to change the information you want to print. There are numbers, letters and symbols available in many different configurations, the possibilities are endless.

Plu labels are the small labels you see on fruits and vegetables with numbers and or barcode on them. Plu labels are very similar to logo style stickers, but they have a FDA approved direct food contact adhesive on the back of the label.

This podcast is about the difference between laser cut labels and die-cut labels. 

Podcast details:

Laser-cut labels are for low volume runs and or for emergency situations where you need labels immediately but do not have time for a die to be made. Also, the laser melts the edge of the label slightly which can burn the ink of slightly and make the label a little more rigid. Most people can't tell the difference at all, but we can. 

Die-cut labels do not have either of those issues and are for large volume production runs.

Plu label stickers are NOT edible, the material used in plu labels is the same material used in logo stickers and flexible packaging labels. The only thing the FDA does regulate is the adhesive material on the back of the label. 

There are 2 different types of food contact adhesive, there is direct and indirect food contact adhesive. Indirect food contact adhesive is for fruits and vegetables that you do not eat the skin of like bananas and direct foods contact is for fruits and vegetables that you do eat the skin of like apples.
