A Functional Medicine Approach to Type 2 Diabetes: Interview with Melody Hartzler, Pharm.D.
I’m a clinical pharmacist at Western Medicine Family Physicians in Fairborn, Ohio. And I also teach part-time at Cedarville University School of Pharmacy. I love sharing experiences with the next generation of practitioners especially when I can teach diabetes & functional medicine content! I am currently a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Specialist (BCACP), and Board Certified in Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM). I married my wonderful husband Dustin in 2007, and graduated from Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy in 2009. Then I completed a pharmacy practice residency with emphasis in ambulatory care (primary care) at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center in Columbus, Ohio. Following residency training, I took a full time faculty position at Cedarville University School of Pharmacy and started a clinical practice in family medicine at the Victor J. Cassano Health Center where I practiced for 6 years. From a practice standpoint, I have been focused on diabetes management for the majority of my career. I love helping people learn how to eat healthy and figure out what they need when diet and exercise don’t do the trick. I also have been managing other chronic disease states such as hypertension, asthma, and COPD. Most recently I have developed a passion for functional medicine. Functional medicine is treating the underlying causes of disease vs. just treating the symptoms. On Social Media: @pharmtotable.life @fxmedce www.functionalmedicineCE.com www.pharmtotable.life.com

Empowering Women With and Beyond Hashimoto's: Jenn Krusinski, CTNC
Jenn Krusinski, CTNC Holistic Health + Hashi’s + Life Coach Empowering women to seek and find their whole health potential, with and BEYOND Hashimoto’s; to inspire and create the lives they want to love — on their terms; and to always be expanding by standing in their power and speaking their truths.   The majority of women I work with today are beyond wanting just the protocols and being told what to do. They are ready for more, they can feel what’s possible, they are ready to allow their diagnosis to push them into who they are meant to BE. I'm on a mission to empower women  to demand their labs, get the diagnosis, and then…hear the message their body is longing for them to hear, decide they are NOT their diagnosis, allow the diagnosis to crack them open so they can become who they really are. I show women that that health is not just about what they are doing, but more importantly, who they are BEING. I can be found at jennkrusinskiwellness.com;  Follow me on facebook.com/jennkrusinskiwellness and instagram.com/jennkrusinski/ Sign up for my newsletter on my website (https://www.jennkrusinskiwellness.com/) or in my bio on Instagram. For those newly diagnosed or who are wondering if they have a thyroid issue:  my website has a symptom checklist, labs checklist to bring to your doctor, and the top nutrients to ignite your thyroid and metabolism. You can all also receive my top Hashi’s Hacks via my bio on Instagram For newly diagnosed who resonate with me, AND more directly for the women who have been dealing with this for a while but feel like there is MORE to healing than beyond protocols — who are at a pivotal point and want to create what’s NEXT — head to my website or message me on Facebook and Instagram to set up a Discovery/Strategy call. Reiki and Meditation: Interview with Donna Magtibay, MSN, RN, RMT
I have personally and professionally witnessed the importance of a holistic approach in maintaining health and treating illness. This approach includes equal attention to the mind and the spirit as well as the body. As a nurse, I have had extensive training in the traditions of  'Western' medicine; including researching stress and resilience. Recognizing a personal need for a greater understanding of the role the mind and spirit play in healing, I began my study of 'Eastern' practices. In combining traditional 'Western' medicine with the 'Eastern' philosophies, I attempt to honor this balance. Synegration is a word coined by my son that reflects this philosophy of using  modalities from the 'East' and the 'West' to maximize health and healing. Synegration is the blending of two words; synergy and integration. Synergy is defined as the interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect that is greater than the sum of the individual elements while integrations is defined as an act of combining into an integral whole. These concepts when combined together is something new and powerful. I offer Reiki to members of the Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center. I also partner with Northgate Chiropractic Clinic and Lilac Wellness Center to offer coaching and energy therapies as a alternative healing and/or wellness option. I do this through Reiki, Chakra clearing and balancing, and meditation coaching. I also offer coaching on techniques to build mindfulness and resilience to reduce stress, anxiety, and burnout.  These therapies can be used alone or combined with other therapies to bring more energy into the body. The body knows where to best utilize this renewed energy and channels it for that purpose; healing when ill, clearing the mind to see more clearly, and/or revitalizing the spirit. Please browse the tabs to learn more information about these therapies and to schedule an appointment. Dr. Collier is a Board-certified neurologist and epileptologist as well as an integrative medicine doctor who practices in Grand Junction, CO. She completed her medical school education at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in 2009. She then went on to finish her residency in neurology and fellowship in neurophysiology with a focus on epilepsy at the University of Utah. Since graduating from fellowship, she moved to Montana and was the first board-certified epileptologist for the state of Montana. She then moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 2016 to build a first of it's kind epilepsy program for the Western Slope. She is the medical director of a NAEC (National Association of Epilepsy Centers) level 3 certified epilepsy monitoring unit providing comprehensive epilepsy care to patients with epilepsy in a rural setting.  In 2018, she graduated from the AIHM (Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine) integrative medicine fellowship with honors.  She also is a graduate of the American Academy of Neurology's Live Well Lead Well leadership program creating a program to address physician wellness.  She is also a 200 hour registered yoga teacher (RYT) and teaches yoga at national conferences including the American Academy of Neurology's annual conference. She will be teaching again this May in Philidelphia. She has been studying yoga since the age of 17, when she graduated from high school and spent the summer in Espanola, NM studying under the guidance of Yogi Bhajan who bestowed upon her the spiritual name Guru Prem Kaur. Since that time she has studied yoga in Rishikesh, India and obtained her RYT through the Baptiste Institute. She also recently completed Baptiste Level 1 in Tulum, Mexico with Baron Baptiste and will be attending the Fit to Lead leadership program next month.  Dr. Collier believes that yoga can help patients with neurological disorders on many levels and recommends yoga to her patients for a number of conditions. Neurological disease is complex, difficult to treat and frequently requires a multidisciplinary approach. This is what drove her to explore yoga, mindfulness, meditation as well as functional and integrative medicine to help patients create a wellness toolkit in their journey to health.   We had so much fun recording this interview & Marie has so much information to share that I decided to break this interview into two segments! This week is part 2! Both of this episodes are packed full of useful and insightful information. You will not want to miss a second of either of these interviews!  You can find Dr. Collier on Instagram @integrative_brain_doc
