Amari President was known for his passion for politics and his role as part of the President Joe Biden campaign in 2020. He was a football player that attended Ashley Ridge High School. On August 25, 2020, Amari returned home to his father's house where he collapsed on his way to the shower. She questioned God looking for answers to why this was all happening to her? This is my son Nick Rucker….
On April 23, 2021 in a small town in Bardstown, Kentucky
My 24 year old son Nick was killed by 1/2 a counterfeit fentanyl Percocet.
After taking 1/2 of a pill he believed to be a Percocet Nick died suddenly, all alone, and without a clue that would be his last act on earth.
No warning, no knowledge he was about to consume fentanyl, no battle, and no choice..and the person responsible continues this practice. Free and never even investigated. Stereotyped as worthless and not entitled to a proper investigation from day one.
Nick never battled a substance use disorder but he is still DEAD.
A consequence of the Stigma of substance use disorder all those parents that have fought alongside their children for years know all to well. The stigma and shame that our children are somehow bad and we are somehow bad parents is palpable.
Nick didn’t choose Fentanyl.. he was murdered, the crime it is called Drug Induced Homicide.
I could not save Nick from an unknown illicitly made fake pill.. because I didn’t know they existed..Nick didn’t know they existed .
Nick doesn’t get a chance or a choice…
Nick is a beloved person and his life will be forever missed…
Nick matters, and all those killed by illicit drugs and poisoned by Fentanyl matter..

November 22, 2020, was the exclamation point on my grief journey. At around 5:31 pm my 17-year-old son left this plain in a fatal car accident. My grief journey began long before losing my son, at just 4 I lost my 2-year-old brother, that is where this truly began. I went on to lose multiple sets of great grandparents, my grandfather, my step-father (who was like a father to me), my grandmother - who I lived next to all of my life and was my favorite person in the world, and a handful of other relatives.
After losing Robbie, I started writing and later speaking about my grief journey. This then led to the creation of theGrief22 where I serve as a Grief Guide.
This created a way for me to help others on a grief journey. It is also a way for me to continue to share, celebrate, and honor my son. He had a great heart and I learned so much from him, while he was here with us and since he has transitioned. You couldn’t be around him without laughing, a genuine belly-roll laugh. He was funny and he loved tacos, motocross, and his people.
I did not choose this journey; I would not ever choose this journey. What I do choose, is to keep moving forward because my son blessed me with the most wonderful gift when he left this earth. A gift of resilience, strength, and courage that has allowed me to share my journey and support others in their healing. Robbie continues to be included in our lives, in all that we do, in theGrief22.
One of the pillars of the theGrief22 program is what I refer to as the22Celebration. For us, the22Celebration is bold and loud and includes Robbie daily. That is what serves our family best.
I talk a lot about the celebration, and I want to be sure that I express what I mean by that. It is celebrating in your own way. Which can be holding your loved one in your heart, saying their name and continuing to talk about them and share memories, or including them in all that you do. YOU GET TO CHOOSE.
I believe a few things…
that every person's grief journey is unique.
when you are navigating a grief journey you get to choose how you navigate that path
no one gets to set expectations for you on that journey
when you need support you should have a safe, understanding, unconditional space where you can focus on healing
I live grief every day, this is my life, some days I laugh, some days I cry, some days I am angry….I embrace every day as it comes. I give myself permission to ride out the ebbs and flows of my grief. But I also choose to do things that make me happy and one of those things is to help others who are on a journey of their own.

Jeralynn Q.T. Brown-Blueford is the Mother of Alan Blueford, who at age 18 was killed in 2012 by an Oakland, California, police officer. Ms. Brown-Blueford is the Co-Director of the Alan Blueford Center for Justice and the Co-Founder of the Alan Blueford Foundation, both institutions were founded in the aftermath of Alan's death. The officer who killed Alan had not activated his body camera during the deadly encounter; the facts in the shooting were disputed by the family and numerous witnesses; but he was never charged or tried. Jeralynn's family along with the support of the JAB committee and community members forced the Oakland Police Department to mandate that all police officers MUST wear and keep on their lapel camera's doing all police stops. A wife, mother of three children, and Grandmother.Jeralynn has always had a heart for people. Since her teen years, she has worked in healthcare and social/community services. She is a well-known community organizer and activist in Oakland, often called upon to speak at rallies, social justice panels, and local government meetings. After Alan was killed, Jeralynn went back to school, earning her Bachelor's Degree in theology, and a Master's Degree in Divinity. Ms. Blueford works as an ordained minister and certified chaplain within the Bay Area Community. She is also a Support and Resource Specialist working with the National Alliance of Mental Issues Contra Costa County offering culturally responsive, non-clinical support services, providing resources and information to help people find their way during difficult times. Her specialties: grief counseling for families who has lost loved ones, support and counseling for family members who has lost loved ones to police violence, support for those suffering mental illness, peer and support counseling for families of incarcerated loved ones. Jeralynn has taken her pain and turned it into a purpose for healing broken hearts. She travels widely in the United States and abroad, speaking out against police brutality -and speaking out for prison reform, women's rights, social justice, affordable housing, and fair wages.

#Angel Moms / Hopes of Heaven with Denise Ganulin
Denise lost her daughter and only child, Holland, 10 years ago this month. (March 29). Since then she has tried to honor Holland on her ongoing grief journey. Denise has written and performed many of her songs at national grief conferences which seem to bring comfort to other bereaved parents who know exactly what she is singing about! Most recently, Denise wrote and published a book called "Becoming IN-lightened" to share her story and how grievers and anyone going through trauma of any kind can better cope. By creatively expressing herself through books and music, Denise has found purpose to go on.

#Angel Moms / Hopes of Heaven with After Chloe/ Melo Garcia
Melo Garcia, a grief specialist, assists those who have lost what isn't replaceable by creating After Chloe, an online community that provides support, resources, and assistance through the difficult grief journey. And to find a way not only to process the pain of loss and grief but to incorporate grieving and living to find a life of living after loss. Melo started and cultivated After Chloe in 2015, with the idea to give the griever a feeling of community and to know that his/her opinions are, in fact, not only valid but that anyone can create a roadmap to find his/her way after the loss.
Melo created AfterChloe.com in honor of her daughter Chloe who passed away in 2011, and after losing both her parents.
And felt it necessary to help others deal with the grief and losses life present from death, divorce, identity, age, fertility, and empty-nesting by creating various types of solutions that the grieving finds a life worth living and to speak your grief in your way, a way that will assist you and inspire you to live and grieve.
In 2021 Melo started the podcast, the Resilience of Grieving and hosts an annual online Summit during the holidays to provide resources to grievers!
