Hurry up and print my kidney!

Hurry up and print my kidney!

A dive into the world of 3D Printing where we talk about what it is, it's history, how it's used and its impact on society. In the discussion we highlight the real impact on the everyday life of people who actually do the printing and those who get to consume or use the products. We also take a look at the economic impact and how the manufacturing to retail supply chain is being disrupted, how the health industry is adapting and using the technology to improve our quality of life, and the changes in cultural, philosophical and educational thought that become necessary in a 3d printing world.
For people interested in getting involved in 3D printing, you can join or just browse through r/3dprinting, a Reddit community of 3D printing enthusiasts and professionals. It is a place where makers of all skill levels and walks of life can learn about, discuss and get help and advice about 3D printing.
If you've just gotten into 3D printing or you've been doing it for awhile and need some new inspiration Sketchup is tool that can inspire you and help you get more out of your 3D printer. They also have a large library of models you can download and print immediately.
If you are a fan of 3D printing or again perhaps looking for inspiration in terms of what to make with your printer, you can use Yeggi a search engine dedicated to 3D print outs or browse through Thingiverse, the largest library of open source 3d models.
During our discussion we mentioned Tilly Lockey, a beautiful and amazing young girl who unfortunately has no hands. Here's a video of her receiving new prosthetic hands designed to look like the arms of Alita, the protagonist in the movie Alita Battle Angel. Tilly also gets to attend the movie's premier and enjoy the glitz and glam of the red carpet event. 3D printing makes stories like these possible and will hopefully soon make them much more common.

A Matter of Time

A Matter of Time

Today we discuss the relationship between Time and Technology, especially focusing on how the rate of technological progress grows exponentially and also on how we tend to underestimate that growth. Every new technological advancement enables even more advancements and often increases the speed at which further enhancements can be achieved. We explore this typically invisible phenomenon by looking back at just how rapidly we have come in the last few decades and the sorts of technological advancements we can expect in the near future and how they will change everything, just like those before them did.
