With this next conversation, I’m officially launching my Wisdom Dialogue Series. If I only had time to tell you how this is a culmination of my life up to this moment, and how this is the result of a flow of synchronicities in my life that have been growing and growing so powerfully.  Without further adieu, the first episode is with my guest Alan Briskin.  He’s so perfect to be the first guest and let me share about him and you’ll see why.

Alan Briskin, Ph.D. is the author and co-author of multiple books on the workplace, health care, and collective wisdom, including The Stirring of Soul in the Workplace, Daily Miracles, and The Power of Collective Wisdom. He has been working with groups and organizations for 40 years as an executive coach and consultant. 

Co-founder of The Collective Wisdom Initiative, sponsored by the Fetzer Institute, Dr. Briskin’s long-term clients have included Kaiser Permanente, George Lucas Educational Foundation, and the Goi Peace Foundation in Tokyo.  He has held positions as Executive Advisor at the Institute of Noetic Sciences and Senior Advisor to the One Humanity Institute.  His work has sought to integrate the interior experience of individuals and groups with the realities of external power, privilege, and institutional history.  He is currently working on a forthcoming book with Mary Gelinas, Space is Not Empty: Harnessing the Power of Relational Fields to Impact Our World.

That is just the tip of the iceberg of who Alan is because we are infinite people who are more than our bios.  Nonetheless, it’s inspiring to hear part of his story.  I hope that this wisdom dialogue supports you, my listener and viewer and Awakening Together community member, in discovering more of your own capacity, your own deep longing for meaningful conversation and more of the wisdom in your own life.

I believe that the world needs more wisdom and we need more dialogue and we also need spaces and containers for dialogue beyond just the normal meeting kind of conversations.  Of course you might want to know “What is a wisdom dialogue?” What is wisdom and what then is dialogue?  Listen in and find out.  

This first Wisdom Dialogue emerged out of what was going to be our ‘prep’ call for the formal interview I was going to have with Alan.  It wanted to be a Wisdom Dialogue.  We were quickly in a deep connected (communitas) space that was guiding us as much as we were guiding it through the flow of our conversation.  There was a delightful exploration.  Many of my listeners and viewers are familiar I am sure with the aboriginal scholar and author Tyson Yunkaporta, and if not please check out his work.  In his book Sand Talk: How Indigenous Thinking Will Change The World (which I highly recommend), he speaks generously about the difference between having an ordinary conversation and having a ‘yarn’.  Yarning is simply put the Aboriginal approach to group dialogue, knowledge creation, sharing and decision making; it’s also about “the creation of a space without a stage to share experiences, to draw on the ground and sketch ideas out to illustrate a point.”  Doesn’t that sound like what a Wisdom Dialogue might be?  I hope so.  So this wonderful yarn was inspiring, nurturing, insightful, and invited each of us into deeper parts of ourselves together, as we care about each other and the earth and these times we are in.  Let us learn as members of this global family different ways of learning and sharing in language - letting the heart lead with the head following - mastery and the emissary.

Welcome everyone!  Let’s talk spiritual mastery!

 I’m your host Sheri Herndon and we’re here for another profound conversation into the deep questions of life.  Not only is this about probing the topics that matter most, but also creating a container in which we invite each listener and viewer to drop in and feel the participatory nature of this generative space.  Today with my guest Jeff Vanderclute, we go right into the heart of how we listen to the wisdom of life, ask for what we need, tune in to the deeper truths and find wholeness in our own lives.  Sometimes it is the simple things that are equally profound and take a lifetime to master.  Hopefully you will leave this conversation with an experience of a beautiful transmission of insight into the participatory nature of reality, into natural law itself, and to always coming home to who we truly are.  Jeff’s very presence is a gift because his embodiment of being an awake human who is in daily touch with the god-source is palpable and present to all.

We covered a great breadth and at the same time depth which makes for juicy and meaningful connection that goes right straight to our hearts and minds and souls.  We covered alot of ground around embodiment, transmission, our relationship to source, being a clear vessel, and also the power of asking for guidance, and the power of listening.  We didn’t name it this way, but it was also like listening to the animate intelligence, that is another kind of AI, animate intelligence, that is built on 13.8 billion years that is within our body, within our 50 trillion cells.  You can feel this quality of the infinite when you stop, pause and contemplate that reality.  So here we are feeling and exploring the participatory nature of reality.. Which ultimately has a huge impact in our lives and in the impact we have in the world - we are consciously cocreating with life. All of this ties in with how we can feel that we are developing new capacities within ourselves and with each other.

Jeff and I have known each other for a number of years…and his path of consciousness and transformation and awakening has been nothing short of a shooting star, he embodies the new capacities and this new human in ways that is rare and a gift.  His journey and his core pillars of social transformation, consciousness and technology, has supported his becoming an attractor for wisdom.  One of the lines that stands out from our dialogue of many is that “Listening is the portal through which the new world arises.”   

He has several books coming out and he’s open sourcing all of them through his website.  The one close to being released is “Beyond Every Teaching”.  We talk about what this means and also we talk about what are root meanings, what does it mean to get down to first principles and to understand how much language and our assumptions are filtering what and how we see.  We are still seeing through the glass darkly but we can soon see face to face.  

Part of our context is around the inquiry - who are we becoming as members of the new species.  Everything is shifting and faster than we imagine and we are together in a moment of collective choice. 

While our dialogue is deep and philosophical, it’s also packed with practices, awareness and ways to tune in even more deeply.  These are resilience capacities, which we’ll be needing more and more.

In this gorgeous conversation with friend and guest David Sauvage, we cover a vast amount of territory in a short amount of time.  We also go deep into what it means to be an empath in today’s culture, but then we keep opening ourselves up to the deeper layers and go into more of our unique gifts and what it means to invoke our genius to serve others, to activate a shared experience of the divine, and to be held in community in ways that meet one’s deepest needs.  We are feeling people and yet sometimes we don’t even know what feelings we are having or if they are yours or they are mine.  Through the next hour,  you’ll experience with us the transmission that happens when we tune in to each other and attune to each other.  This attunement and resonance (which becomes one of our themes) is a gift and the gift of articulating what’s happening while in the midst of it is a blessing and joy to experience.  Our exploration of Resonance was profound and brought me into new understandings in a very embodied way (another favorite word and understanding of how we apply what we learn in very real and tangible ways).

David has powerful gifts as an empath yes and we learn alot about these capacities that are so human and can be cultivated by many (perhaps by all) in healthy ways.  But David has other gifts around how to communicate the information he’s receiving and talk about feelings that often lay hidden and unnamed.  I had several powerful and near ecstatic insight moments because of this that were beyond ahas! And more like mini revelations or satori moments.  It gave me a taste of ‘oh this is what it can be like.’  We also share our yearning for a world in which we can be fully seen and where our gifts are naturally nurtured in our communities from early on.  We need temples and sacred spaces and communities where this is the norm.  We dreamed into this a bit and we invite you to come with us.

Welcome to the next episode of Awakening Together with my guest Dr. Anita Sanchez.  

Have you ever wondered what indigenous wisdom means and why it might be closer to perennial wisdom than we imagine?  Let’s explore this together.  

What I love about this conversation is that we dive straight in and bypass the superficial altogether.  My hope is that our words activate and support you in your own learning and growth process.  Because the meme ‘indigenous thinking will save the world’ is very popular these days, it’s important to ask, what does it mean to be indigenous. One definition might be that you have a direct path to the original instructions given to your ancestors, that you are still listening to nature and the wisdom of life’s living systems all around you, you remember you are one.  In this way, the indigenous are those people who never left being stewards of the deepest connection with life and they are honor bound to share these ways of being with their family and community.  In this way 7 generations is not just a brand, but it is a way of being in right relationship with all life.  Given this, and one that can embrace us in hope, we are all indigenous.  

In the 90’s, I remember hearing John Trudell, American Indian Movement activist and artist, say, “we are all indigenous.”  It stopped me in my tracks and dropped me into a still point of inquiry about belonging and wholeness, because I wanted to understand why I didn’t feel that I was indigenous even though I was producing this event with him on his Spoken Word tour and I had gained the reputation for being a white journalist who could be trusted by native people’s. In truth, I had simply forgotten my indigenous roots and the golden thread connecting me had been broken.  But now it could be restored.  If we go back far enough we all can find those roots and connections.  Even so, it is a blessing to have this wisdom so readily available through our indigenous brothers and sisters.  As you’ll see in this conversation with Anita, we have the opportunity to step into her life and to feel the truth and richness of her lineage.

We are all intimately connected to each other and to life in many ways and making that visible helps us navigate in a more graceful way through the challenges of collaboration and team-building and community building as well as all the dynamics of start-up culture.  The Participatory Commons is a ‘map’ as well as a manual that I’ve been using for a number of years as a way to tell a story to help us see how we can more easily play together.  Given the times we are in, there is a cultural urgency to bring it out into our movements and communities because we need ways to increase our collective intelligence and decision-making with the whole in mind.  The primary development of the Participatory Commons emerged out of Village Lab and the work of Jeff Clearwater along with Jamaica Stevens and Keala Young.  All three of them are my guests for this episode.  Jamaica Stevens is the Co-Founder of Open Future Coalition, developing social, technological, and economic tools for systemic change. She is also Author of “ReInhabiting the Village: CoCreating our Future”.  Keala is a whole systems designer and regenerative practitioner with a background in the healing arts, pattern language and group facilitation.  Jeff Clearwater is the cofounder of VillageLab and has enjoyed 36 years as a leader in intentional community design, appropriate technology, and new paradigm economics. He also co-founded the Ecovillage Network of the Americas and served as the Director at Sirius Ecovillage for 6 years.

In this conversation, you’ll hear how the deepest understanding of the principles of living systems can help us be better stewards.  We believe in a thriving civilization and this is one of the trim tabs for supporting our process right now.  Group forming is an ancient aspect of life, it’s at the foundation; it’s what we humans do.  It’s humbling to see that we are still figuring out how to better coordinate with each other.  We need all the tools we can get so we can activate our greatest social potential.  The Participatory Commons is a tool we can all use for the essential community building that is needed as we stand together in cocreating our regenerative future.  We are learning to think and act like living systems that ultimately can enable groups of different sizes to take on complex challenging issues and create impactful and empowering outcomes.

As you listen to our conversation, you will quickly learn that we all have a love of nature and the principles of living systems that inform how we work and play together.  In our alignment and connection, we can behave more like a gorgeous super-organism and handle the metacrises with all our intelligence and wisdom fully online.  In order to do that, we need maps and practices and worldviews that allow us to bring the lessons of nature more fully into our lives and learn together how we can work together more naturally and with less ego and shadow.  The time of separation and fragmentation and competition must be left behind as we embrace a more life-giving operating system.  We do this by holding to the ancient lessons of nature along with the insights of indigenous knowledge and the breakthroughs from cutting edge evolutionary biology.

The role of the artist in culture has long been a central theme and when explored brings us to new insights into who we are as a people.  It also invites us to inquire into how we cultivate greater creativity globally.  We know this is foundational for a culture in crisis.  Without a vision, the people will perish.  When we look at how we have been neglecting this creative lifeblood in our educational system in the United States and many other ways, we can understand the necessity for finding new pathways to support the creator culture and the artist in our world.  I believe that we are all born creative and it is a God-given aspect of our nature.  So how we create spaces and systems of support for the creative voice and our emerging expressive capacities will determine the future health of our country and the world.  We will explore this and more in our conversation with Raamayan Ananda who is a mystic-preneur musician poet-author and perfectly poised to share his wisdom with us.  What I find inspiring about being with Raamayan and receiving his transmission offerings is that he takes everything up a notch; he does not stay at the current level of systems design or cultural innovation and evolution.  Feel the expansion of the realm of possibility.

Diving into the role of creativity reimagined, you’ll get the embodied sense of why artists are the “unacknowledged legislators of our time” and what happens when we become more visible and the structures, our enabling structures for our own creativity and our community building begin to take root as the new social DNA.  Ultimately, we can imagine how this supports us learning and experimenting with how we can coordinate locally to learn how to coordinate globally.

From Raamayan’s spiritual catalyst roots to getting down into systems thinking, he brings through some wonderful insights into what it is that calls us forth into our dharma, our higher shared purpose, and does so by bringing to us a beautiful upgrade of DAOs as a system architecture.  From DAOs to Dharmically Aligned Organisms.  There’s so much encoded in that - there's your dharma, your purpose, then there’s the alignment (beyond agreement), then the living systems, bringing in the power of the natural world as the ultimate teacher.  In this conversation, we’ll go behind the structure and stories of DAOs into the deeper inquiry around what are we learning as humanity, what are we experimenting with, why do we need to be experimenting, and what is necessary for us to learn.

One of the main things that I love about speaking with Raamayan is to notice how he’s weaving together art, media, culture and ‘spiritual unfoldment’ as a prerequisite for cultural evolution.  This is wholeness at its best.  How do we know ourselves even more deeply and our purpose in the world to catalyze culture to its next levels - the heart of community building and freedom.  When we take that combined with alignment, not where we all have to agree, but we have alignment around our principles and values and that alignment is around the common good, we find ourselves in new territory worthy of exploration. I really value exploring how this is the new training ground for humanity, and identifying the need for these kinds of communities of practice, training grounds and dojos.

My next guest is Tibet Sprague and this is my second interview with him and likely not to be the last.  Because the conversation we had around technology and what we might call appropriate tech or conscious technology is one of the most important conversations we could be having in culture right now, and I really want to honor and give gratitude to Tibet and his whole team at the Terran Collective and Hylo for the way they are stewarding and developing not just Hylo but also the Collaborative Tech Alliance.  They are truly showing the way for this entire industry around how to uplift the values and principles that are needed at the foundation of civilization redesign.

In many ways it gets very very simple - how are we choosing to make decisions that impact the choices other people make when using our technology.  The kinds of responsibility for people working in tech companies, when in alignment with the codes of life and institutions like Center for Humane Technology, is on a whole other level.  Then we are talking about stewarding the commons.  Because technology can scale, the impact potential is great and can be global. The minute you put something on the internet and you make it available for people to use to help them coordinate and find each other and work bioregionally and to share resources and to become sovereign empowered citizens and give them adequate information you are touching at the heart of culture creation.  This is the essence of the stewardship of the commons.

Technology is all around us in many forms. There are those that we are aware of and those we are unaware of - we call those invisible architectures and they have a powerful influence on us, and not always generative.  There are those technologies that serve us and those that do not.

What is important for us is that the more we become conscious of how to design technologies for an all- win culture, the more we are liberated into our true freedom and true sovereignty.  This sovereignty, this full-spectrum human dignity, must be fully landed in our bodies and our relationships and our communication protocols.  To make this a reality, this technology must come from a consciousness that can support our evolution as individuals, as a species, and throughout our social systems.

Imagine if we designed technologies that were aligned with the principles of life and living systems, where we were served in who we are becoming in more of our social potential.  We have been so long under the spell of an oppressive tech infrastructure bombarding us from all sides, that we don’t even fully recognize how repressed and limited we have been in these waters.  It’s like the frog in the pan as the water is slowly heating up.  It doesn’t jump out.  Our opportunity is now here where we are aware enough and conscious enough to say now we want our technologies to serve all life and nothing less.

This next conversation is all about technology that serves life and our social potential and technology designed from a beautiful state of consciousness that is taking into account the whole and the part and the one and the many.  My guest is Adam Apollo who I have known since 2007.  This is our first interview and I’m truly excited.  You’ll hear how we met in a wonderful context with a group of people using open space technology and inquiring into platforms that can serve a wiser commons.  This was the beginning of Wiser Earth, a project initiated by Paul Hawken, which was the direct result of his book Blessed Unrest which was tracking the movement around the world, essentially humanity’s immune system.  Adam was one of the participants and was already working on some cutting edge technology that is even now being brought into greater form, in our time of need.

Adam is a very unique and awake human.  He has offered insights on global transitions, physics, technology, human spirituality and the future as a "Next Generation Leadership" ambassador at the White House, in multiple NEXUS and other summits at the United Nations, and at conferences and festivals around the world. He served as Chief of Business Development for the 2020 Fund, and organized two Prayer Runs for World Peace with indigenous elders and youth from all over North America. He is a cofounder of the UNIFY movement which has reached over 100M people, and two education and technology based companies: Access Granted and Superluminal Systems. He is an active faculty member, author, and the lead systems architect for several international online academies, including the Resonance Academy for Unified Physics and the Guardian Alliance Academy for self-mastery, with over 100,000 active students of all ages from around the world across these schools.  He is now building a decentralized social operating system that has a revolutionary 3D starship dashboard and regenerative impact engine for gamification of planetary transformation. Adam is dedicated to achieving a sustainable and thriving interplanetary culture.

I believe this technology that Adam has been developing can ignite some of the visions that have been foreseen for some time and that have been needing the conditions conducive for their manifestation.  I believe we are at that precipice.

When I think about the times we’re in and this moment of history and all that is being revealed to us, all that we haven’t seen, all that we have forgotten, when that all comes together in flashes of insight and wholeness, clear intuitive guidance, then we’re touching on that place in ourselves that already knows - this is innate and we are naturally multidimensional with more capacities than we yet realize.

We must recognize that we are at a collective fork in the road and we need to upgrade our capacities, attune to the highest frequencies of ourselves, listen deeply to the wisdom inherent in our life.  This deep gnosis, that knowing beyond what we were told, beyond what we learned in school or what we were raised with, that’s touching into the heart of who we truly are.  There are many ways to do that, through direct experience, teachings, books, teachers, life experience, perennial wisdom, the transmission through all the major religions and the mystical paths, and from life Herself, from the intelligence of Gaia and Divine Wholeness.

And my next guest will weave many of those strands together in an exquisite embodiment that will inspire and welcome you to step into more of your greatness.  Her name is Sarah Drew and she’s a dear friend who is “the visionary author of the eco-feminist novel, GAIA CODEX, which catalyzes powerful blueprints for the future deeply rooted in the gnosis of the past.  Sarah has been a featured speaker at the graduate level and at organizations such as Google, ABC Deepak Homebase, and Bioneers, and she is currently a popular teacher and mentor for women worldwide on topics such as Feminine Wisdom, Evolutionary Culture. and Regenerative Technologies. Her work expresses a deep curiosity and a polymathic approach to exploring multiple disciplines with a focus on humanity’s evolution, the cultivation of compassion and our multi-generational nurturance of Mother Earth.” This is 7 generation thinking.

We will touch on all of this in our conversation, and we do so in a deeply personal way that has repercussions for the collective and our global community.  She also shares some of her personal practices from her spiritual lineage and the divine feminine lineage of women who remember.  Toward the end she guides us into a simple yet profound visualization practice to bring forth a future that aligns with the more beautiful world we know, the vibrant seeds waiting to blossom in our hearts. So much of Tomas’ focus in the world is about cultivating the inner capacities of people as well as the collective capacities that can make the biggest difference. My next guest is a wise soul who combines the best of a scientific understanding of the cosmos with a deeply spiritual and intuitive knowing of the deeper reality all around us.  This story of the unity and convergence of science and the primary nature of consciousness is one of the gifts she brings to us.  Dr. Jude Currevan is a delightful human with a natural and highly contagious joy that exudes from her.  She is also a cosmologist, planetary healer, futurist, author, previously one of the most senior business women in the UK and co-founder of WholeWorld-View. For the last twenty-five years she has lived in the sacred landscape of Avebury. She has experienced multidimensional realities since early childhood and has worked with the wisdom keepers both incarnate and discarnate of many traditions.

Welcome everyone once again to Awakening Together. I’m your host Sheri Herndon and as always I’m very happy to be here. This is what I consider to be a sacred container. I have a great love for containers because they are the membranes around a field, around a conversation, a group, a potential, an emerging potential. This conversation is a container. We tend to not think of it that way but when we go deeper into the scientific understanding, or innerstanding, of energetic fields and our combined biofields and the nonlocal fields, we begin to see more of reality, we experience the veils dissolving, we see through the glass darkly and then face to face. Our next conversation is a deepening of the conversation I had with Anneloes Smitman on becoming future humans part 1. What was clear in that episode is that we covered a lot of terrain and now it’s time to go deeper. By going deeper we will be going under the more superficial top layer, and thus are bringing in more of the wholeness that we can access within ourselves. Hello everyone, welcome, I’m your host Sheri Herndon and we’re here again for another inspiring conversation. I recorded this dialogue about two months ago to the day and for a variety of reasons it’s just now getting out. And it’s perfect because some of the themes we’ve been seeing over the past 6 episodes there’s a weaving here and we’re seeing these themes being amplified again organically in this conversation. Welcome everyone to Awakening Together. This next episode goes really deep into the heart of the new social DNA of an awakening culture. With my guest Tibet Sprague, we cover alot of terrain, starting with how we live in community, embody our values, stay connected when it gets difficult and do the healing work necessary for cocreation. It’s potent and enlivening to fully inquire together into what it takes to build a new culture, what are these building blocks from healing relationships to building deep and trusted friendships, navigating through the disconnection, as well as what will it take to birth these next generation of technologies, platforms and social networks. This is what is so inspiring because Tibet because he is bringing a whole systems way of embodying new culture. This is our collective creative opportunity to give birth to a human culture that is mature enough that we can actually work together in order to create a new kind of social coordination system for a planet in transition. We’ll hear wonderful examples of living together, working together, and working on a tech platform. Such a unique convergence. What will it really take to shift into Game B, the Infinite Game, or become a coherent superorganism for a regenerative culture. Basically we are talking about creating community, the kind that builds a beautiful structure of belonging. We’ll hear about the way of council, how it works in community and with for purpose businesses, as well as in a home, family, community. Here are living prototypes of the new operating system in action. Wisdom in action. We’ll learn about the Terran Collective and Hylo, a pro social platform, and ultimately as Tibet likes to say building a platform for stewardship of the planet. Our next conversation is going to take us into a full spectrum approach to regenerative agriculture. What does that mean you might ask. My next guest, Adam Russell, is an extraordinary person in his own regard and he also happens to have a profound and integral relationship with working with the land and life. There are many people working in this space, but Adam’s uniqueness is that he is an integral comprehensivist and is firmly in the lineage of Buckminster Fuller. In this conversation we’ll go deep into what it means to be in right relationship with the land itself and how essential this is to be able to mirror more of life’s intelligence. In this way we heal so much of the wounding in our relationship with the earth and our outdated story of separation. There’s alot of hope in this conversation. From his vantage point he sees a readiness and shift in culture to have a different relationship with the earth. This land consciousness has been a core thread in all of our conversations on Awakening Together thus far – This being in a participatory relationship with life. We also explore coherence and an ancient technology called agnithotra, the seemingly miraculous aspects of biodynamic farming and quantum agriculture, as well as what does it take to transition from conventional to regenerative agriculture. 

BIO 

Adam Russell is an ecologist, explorer, and educator. For a decade he was an educator for Remote Medical International where he has worked with human and land health in remote locations around the world since 2006. He has worked to regenerate land with the use of the Holistic Management framework, Regrarians platform, Permaculture, earthworks, biodynamics, pyramids, and Homa farming practices which include biofertilizers and agnihotra. He seeks to build a knowledge base of how we can work to release the potential from under-utilized lands. Adam’s current projects include broadscale soil and atmospheric regeneration and the spread of available solutions through his work with Symbiosis.
