Women and Society - Episode 4. Reflection on B6 Podcasts
As we wrap up our first season of podcasting, we reflect on the benefits that it has brought to the College. Learners have had the opportunity to engage people from our local community in their work. This has been very rewarding and helped them develop their work ready skills whilst discussing topics important to them as young people. We have also enjoyed the fact that curriculum topics have supported the closing of any learning gaps. We have also gained a great deal by keeping in touch with prospective new learners and our fantastic alumni.
We will see you for season 2 in September
Women and Society - Episode 3. Deputy Leader of Bolton Council, Martyn Cox joins our first year students
Join us in our ‘Weekly Podcast’ where our first-year students discuss with Deputy Leader of Bolton Council, Martyn Cox the safety of women in the borough by placing new cycle routes and further development plans in the centre.
Women and Society – Episode 2. Celebrating the work of women
In episode 2 of our Podcast series, Women and Society we were thrilled to be joined by Gulnaz Brennan. Gulnaz is from Bolton and does a great deal of work locally to support and celebrate the role that women play in our society. She is influential and successful in her own right and works tirelessly on projects to support women in our local society and beyond. Join us to listen and find out about Gulnaz’s journey about the work that she has undertaken including writing books and publishing materials to support mental health. Find out more about her awards programme, which this year has gone global (Inspire Women Awards: www.inspirewomenawards.co.uk) and why her mum has been one of the most influential people in her life.
Women and Society - Episode 1. Feeling Safe
Women and Society – Episode 1. Discussions with a Soroptimist!
In this episode our learners and staff welcome our special guest, Carole Swarbrick. Carole is the Vice Chair of Governors but is also a keen supporter of women, especially young women, in having a voice in society. Carole explains her role in the Bolton Soroptimist Society and we also discuss how they society are lobbying the local council in regard to their proposed safe walking and cycling routes. This topic is close to learner hearts as they do not always feel safe when they are travelling around the borough.
