Back Pocket - A Podcast by Jake and DylanAug 18, 2022
Episode 81: The end
Today is not a day for mourning, for long faces, for tears. No. Today is a day to celebrate a life that ended, a light that no longer shines for all to see with their eyes, but rather one that lives on in your memories. This is the end of Back Pocket, and the beginning of something more. No longer is it bound to our physical plane by its corporeal form. Now it may spend its days in the great beyond, wherever that may be. So when you look back upon these episodes, reminiscing to a time when every Tuesday you had something to look forward to, a shimmer of hope in an otherwise dreary landscape, fret not. For it will always be with you, watching, waiting. Waiting for a time when it can creep back from amongst the shadows and take back the land that was owed to it since birth. A new world shall rise from the ashes, one where every pocket is your back pocket. Where everyday is Tuesday. But until that day, you must be strong. Not only for me, but for your mother, and the little ones. They need you now more than ever. I must leave you now, for I hear them approaching. I never did much in my life that I can be proud of, not until you came into this world. I can leave you now, knowing that you will carry on. Carry on our name, our legacy. So go forth into the world without fear, without shame, but rather with pride. For you are the child the prophecy foretold, the one to lead us back into the light and towards peace. Until that day comes, know that I love you, now and always.
Didn't know where that was going when I started writing it, not bad. Bit of a fever dream though.
Thank you to everyone who has listened to these past 80 episodes, you helped make this show what it was. Until next time, keep on keepin' on.
-Love Jake and Dylan
Episode 80: The beginning of the end
Well folks, this is almost it, the second to last episode we will be releasing on Back Pocket, and boy do we not hold back! We talk moving, driving, committing to the bit, trivia, and even Michael Cera. Tune in next week for the grand finale, who knows what's gonna happen!
Episode 79: Say it with me, velour tracksuits
Titles says it all really, suit up.
Jake gives a tell all about this year's OSL (Outside Lands for those of you like Dylan who had some trouble with that acronym), and we get to hear about Dylan's nearly fatal cactus injury.
Episode 78: The coolest guy in golf shoes
After a week off, we're back and better than ever. We get to hear about the rest of Jake's trip, and Dylan's fun but disappointing golf outing. If you can, reach out and tell him things will get better, it was just an off day :,)
Episode 77: This routine will CHANGE YOUR LIFE
Howdy y'all. This week we check in with how the Euro-trip is going so far, all the way from Amsterdam. Tommy and Jake explore all the city has to offer, Dylan goes on hot boy walks with his sultry stache, you really don't want to miss this one.
Episode 76: Dipshit, party of one your train is ready
Don't you hate it when people trying to help you actually end up messing up your life? Messing it up so hard that you're probably just gonna cancel the rest of the month long trip that you're on? Absolutely ruining your life in ways that not only can't be fixed, but are hard to even fathom how someone could do such a revolting, gut-wrenching, awful act. One that will surely go down in the annals of human history as one of the worst things a human has ever done to another human? That's not exactly what happened to Jake in Barcelona but it's pretty damn close.
Episode 75: Hostel roommates from Hell
We're back with a little update from the Summer 2023 Euro Trip, and boy are there things to update. Everything from terrible roommates to near death experiences, Jake and Darren saw it all.
Meanwhile, Dylan reflects on finally discovering how to use tap-to-pay and the fact that life really do be happening all around us.
Tune in for a scorcher this week!
Episode 74: No place like Europe for the holidays
Imagine celebrating the 4th of July in the United States. Could NOT be Jake. He will be somewhere in Europe eating 4-5 sausages and enjoying a nice chocolate cigarette for dessert. His life is truly a movie.
Meanwhile, this episode has it all. The pain of packing and going through a breakup. The joy of going away parties and having incredible friends. New licenses and registrations, house inspired playlists, and even an old FBZ mixtape that will be streaming everywhere very soon :)
Episode 73: The return of Okay Sports
Friends of the show Harry and Darren make their long awaited return so we can discuss the making of their single they recently put out. The level of musical genius these two clearly have is off the charts. More like we interviewed Mozart and Beethoven ya know?
Episode 72: Cut out soda. Got a WAG.
This week we have huge news. I don't want to spoil it but I think you'll be able to piece it together. Fine we'll tell you. Dylan is no longer a lone wolf, he has found his...girl wolf? Yeah let's go with that. Bottom line is the show is no longer WAG-less. Also Jake wore some pretty killer shades, not that you can see them but it's definitely worth noting. Enjoy!
Episode 71: Currents - Tame Impala (feat. Alec Turner)
After some technical difficulties we made this episode work! Alec comes on to talk about the psychedelic rock masterpiece that is Currents. One of our longer episodes but that's just because we had so much amazing music to discuss. Enjoy!
Episode 70: The closed mouth smile defense of Alex Maloney
Alex makes his coveted return to the show to defend himself against to filleting he took several episodes back from Darren, Harry, and Charlie. What caused the closed mouth smile to become his go to in the first place? You'll have to listen and find out!
Episode 69: MM...FOOD - MF DOOM (feat. Dylan)
Wait Dylan's the guest this week? But isn't he one of the hosts? WHAT'S GOING ON?? Don't worry silly, this is the first installment of The Albums That Made Us, a series where we give you all a look into some of the most important albums in our lives, and what better way to start than with some DOOM. This album has everything: raps, beats, bars, food, fun. Enjoy.
Episode 68: Dibs on Brad Pitt
We call dibs and so does Samantha from Sex and the City. I mean let's be real. Ladies, have you seen him in Fight Club???
Anyways. On this episode we wish a very happy birthday to Dylan's mom, talk about fireworks and concerts, celebrate employment benefits, go gamer mode talking Hogwarts Legacy, and even discuss a little bit of good ol' fashion bull riding. Needless to say, this is an action packed 50ish minutes that will make washing those dishes this week that much more enjoyable :)
Episode 67: Acid Rap - Chance the Rapper (feat. Cooper Lienhart)
On this edition we bring on friend of the show and Jake's former frat little, Cooper. He joins us to discuss the famous Chance the Rapper MIXTAPE titled, Acid Rap. You know you've heard of this mixtape, so whether or not you have given it a listen before, check this episode out and see why it is one of Cooper's all time favorites. Plus, you will find out what Dylan was missing out on when he didn't get invites to any of the parties in high school. Jake was there though. He lived. #Juice #FavoriteSong #AcidRap
Episode 66: Candle lit convos
First ever dueling candle lit convo in this podcast's history. Many are aware that a singular candle typically gets lit during recording, but TWO whole candles?!? Let's be honest; that is probably a fire hazard.
Nonetheless, we run a tight ship this week. Exactly 60 minutes on the dot while discussing topics as interesting as colds, coffee shops, guac at Chipotle, night club hierarchy, going viral, 2in1 hair products, and much more.
Cool. Give this a listen and as always please sound off in the comments!

We had one of the OG boys on the podcast for this episode, none other than Pearu Pold. We talked about growing up and discovering music together, as well as these guys from Australia who make cool music.
Episode 63: No more lies
You read that right. We are done lying. Enough is enough. We promise that there will be a music episode with Pearu, it is just going to be next week. Sorry for the wait.
