S2E6 Christine Taylor
In this Episode of Learner Journeys, Bastian speaks with Christine Taylor
Christine Taylor was born in California, grew up in Germany, South Dakota, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland and has lived in the Netherlands since 2004. She’s been a book lover and traveller all of her life, which hasn’t always made packing easy, but has exposed her to endless worlds and ways of being in them.
After working in a German bakery in North Carolina, then teaching intercultural awareness at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, and working in the International Office at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, she started her own business in 2017: StoryCraft.
Focusing on story structure as the foundation for all storytelling skills, Christine helps people in transition learn to use stories to find their voice so they can communicate and connect with confidence. She helps clients find, craft, and tell their stories.
She also stays involved with intercultural work, although these days it’s more often in the form of diversity and inclusion projects. She’s moving to Edmonton, Canada in 2021 and taking StoryCraft and a sizable home library with her.
Christine’s professional home online is here: https://www.storycraft.nl/
Her Instagram is full of inspiring content over @storycraftnl

Mac has been working on leadership and organisational development for all of his life in various capacities (from youth leader in a local NGO to director in the board of a large company). A scientist by training and an educator by choice, he's currently working with a team of amazing engineers that he feels very fortunate to serve as their manager.

One of the ideas or frameworks Mac referenced in the conversation was the "5 dysfunctions of a team" model. He suggested this video for a light-hearted and yet profound introduction to it: https://youtu.be/O5EQW026alY (36 mins, by the creator of the model, Patrick Lencioni).

She sees herself as a facilitator first and foremost. Tatyana facilitates trainings, meetings, and complex processes, and gives trainees the skills to continue that work themselves. Most importantly, she facilitates changes and deep shifts for individuals and teams she works with.

Learner Journeys S1E2 Madi van Schalkwyk
In this Episode of Learner Journeys, Bastian speaks with Madi van Schalkwyk
Madi is the founder and lead organiser of the 'Human Library South Africa'.
Growing up as a privileged minority in an apartheid South Africa, she took the step a few years ago from “perfecting the art of ruining a family dinner" towards “finding really amazing people to talk to”.
In the context of the Human Library, she creates a space and offers a structure, in which members of discriminated minorities can share their lived experiences and thus showcase the complex reality behind the simplified label that the wider society places on them.
Together with a large community or volunteers, she enables and facilitates conversations that otherwise might never happen. Through this she creates opportunities for truly authentic, vulnerable exchanges and truly transformational learning experiences.
Less interestingly (to her), she has a degree in Visual Communication and a certificate in “The Rise of Superheroes…”
