BCDC Essential Conversations: Dave Gilchrist
𝐁𝐂𝐃𝐂 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 /////// 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐞 8: Dave Gilchrist In this episode of BCDC Essential Conversations, I had an enriching time talking with Dave Gilchrist, whom I regard as my big brother in Christ. Dave expresses God’s heart for the lost by sharing the gospel in word and deed. The overarching theme of our conversation was edification and evangelism and what that looks like in everyday life. We also talk about the cost of discipleship as we move from former worldviews into new life in Christ. Be blessed by the insights that Dave shares. Dave Gilchrist was born and educated in South Africa. He accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Saviour in 1992 and was involved in door to door ministry to muslims within the Johannesburg area from 2004 to 2011. He is married to Taryn and has two daughters Charis and Gabby. He has worked in different Marketing roles within the fast moving consumer goods sector from 1999 to 2015, which included a relocation to Bangkok within a South East Asia regional role from 2011 - 2015. Dave and his family lived in Bangkok for almost 7 years before moving to Sydney, Australia where he is currently based as Director for Child Sponsorship Marketing at World Vision International since 2017. He is actively involved in schools ministry and leads a life group at his local church in Sydney. - In the Essential Conversations series, BCDC co-founder Siree Sivapetchranat interviews disciples of Christ with the purpose of encouraging other believers in the body. There are many conversations happening all around the world regarding different topics relevant to our lives, but the inspiration of “Essential Conversations” comes from God’s exhortation for us to avoid “idle talk” (2 Timothy 2:16). We hope to spur believers to set their minds on things above and focus on the essentials of being a disciple in everyday living. - 📺Link to YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPGKeZ5p0yM&t=59s 🎙️////// Listen to the BCDC Podcast on these platforms: Anchor.fm anchor.fm/bcdc Apple iTunes https://podcasts.apple.com/th/podcast/bcdc/id1507329239 Spotify https://spoti.fi/2K2Li90 #bcdcessentialconversations #discipleship #followersofChrist #Biblestudy #Christianpodcast

Essential Conversations: Matthew Miller
𝐁𝐂𝐃𝐂 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 /////// 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐞 5: Matthew Miller When we truly encounter Jesus, our lives are transformed. My guest in this episode is Matt Miller. As a young man, Matt had pursued the pleasures of the world to fill up the “God-sized” hole in his heart. When lovingly confronted with the question from a friend, “Do you have joy?”, he came face to face with the reality that his life was empty. Matt shares how his relationship with Jesus Christ transformed him radically. We also discuss how following Jesus closely can have its ups and downs and what we can do to keep pressing on in the journey. Matt has served as Lead Pastor in the States for 8 years before moving to Bangkok. Matt Holds BA in New Testament Studies and MA in Church History. He’s been married to Bobbi Jo for almost 13 years and they have two kids, Lexi and Jude. He currently serves as the Teaching Pastor at Tairomprakhun Bangkok Church. He loves spending time with family, the outdoors, and rocking out to a band called Phish. 📺Link to YouTube video: 🎙️////// Listen to the BCDC Podcast on these platforms: Anchor.fm anchor.fm/bcdc Apple iTunes https://podcasts.apple.com/th/podcast/bcdc/id1507329239 Spotify https://spoti.fi/2K2Li90

Let Your Heart Break for Those Who Have Lost and are Lost
During this time, we hear a lot of “stay strong”, “have faith”, “this too shall pass.” And these are all important words of encouragement to share. We should absolutely be strong, have faith and yes, this too shall pass. But when I received an email titled “It’s time to grieve a little, and this is how…” this morning, it woke me up the reality that we need to take this time to grieve and lament as well.

Deeply Rooted: Day 6
Here we are, the last day of our six-day devotional! We arrive at the concluding sentence of verse 8: "It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” This last verse promises that not only will our leaves be green but we will even bear fruit! It's a promise that we will never fail to bear fruit! That is God’s promise to us if we abide in Him. Fruit in the time of drought would be nothing short of a miracle. When drought comes, trees will naturally concentrate all their resources to just stay alive and keep vital functions going. Fruit is produced produced in times of excess resources and abundant conditions.

Deeply Rooted: Day 5
We are now on Day 5 of our Deeply Rooted Devotional. Thank you for sticking through with this and I pray that it has been a truly Spiritually enriching experience as we camp out in these two verses!   "its leaves are always green.”    This part of verse 8 is a promise. Receive it as so. Biology was one of my favorite classes in high school and I was really interested in the units on plants. While I've never had a green thumb, I really do appreciate learning about plant life! We study from a very young age that healthy plants have green leaves. Brown or discoloured leaves are a bad sign. Most of the time, it's a symptom of a plant not having enough water. They start wilting, turn less green, more yellow and if left long enough without remedy, they will dry up, turn brown and fall off. In one of our science classes, we had to take care of our own house plant and I remember that when we came back from a long weekend, we found that one of my friend's plant had drooped and wilted. She was quite distressed about it, but the teacher said, don't worry, it can still be saved. Just give it some water, and it will come back to life. And it sure did! Thankfully, she saved it just in time.

Intro to Deeply Rooted: Growing and Going Together 6-Day Devotional
I’d like us to explore Jeremiah 17:7-8 to really align our perspective of productiveness with God’s. To do this, I believe we need to be deeply rooted first and foremost into His Word and nurture our relationship with our Saviour. So we will be starting a devotional series called Deeply Rooted: Growing and Going Together that will be posted on our website, our Instagram and Facebook accounts. Please join us starting tomorrow for the first BCDC Devotional Series and seek to be deeply rooted and learn together. Share with others and let’s grow and go together.
