In Episode 62 of Beneath Vancouver Radio, I chatted with Angela Ha, founder of The Rosy Weekend. Angela started her small business during the pandemic due to her frustrations while working as a Medical Radiation Technologist and wearing a mask for long hours. A few restless nights later and The Rosy Weekend was born. They also donate $1.00 of each purchase to environmental foundations that help tackle this problem. Maya shares her background of the fashion industry and how she got inspired to start Second Life. She also breaks down the fashion scene in Vancouver and the importance of collaborating with others.

I met Rico about 8 years ago when he had first opened up the shop with his wife, and have always found myself at home when eating there. Fast forward to today, and Rico's store is a staple within the community and has allowed people to not only enjoy amazing sandwiches, but also be a part of something more. In today's episode I dive deeper into the backstory of the shop, and learn more about the inspiration behind the food item and their names.

Naila shares the importance of trying out new things while your young, and she explains how she doesn't let her age define what she can or can't do.

In Episode 52 of Beneath Vancouver Radio I chatted with Tiffany Sham; a Vancouver-based artist who started her own small business last summer selling tote bags designed with her drawings. Tiffany has always had a creative side, and has learned a lot about herself in the last few years. When COVID hit, she decided to share her love for art with her friends and to her surprise people wanted more! Being a recent university graduate, Tiffany shares about the struggles of balancing hobbies, side projects and school work. With the summer ahead Tiffany hopes to continue to develop her business and kick-start her apparel line, all while enjoying the beauty Vancouver has to offer.

In Episode 51 of Beneath Vancouver Radio I chatted with Shawn Esquivel; a Vancouver-based chemical engineer grad and Youtuber by night. Shawn started his Youtube channel when he noticed that there wasn't any content for chemical engineers, especially during the beginning of his degree. Having found a niche, Shawn took matters into his own hands and started creating content for his fellow peers. Fast-forward to today, and Shawn has grown to over 4,000 subscribers and has enjoyed seeing the value that his content provides to others. In today's episode we chat about his start in Youtube and on what it takes to silence the "inner" voice that tells you no.

In Episode 50 of Beneath Vancouver Radio I chatted with the Erin Jay; a Vancouver-based digital marketer & content creator. Erin ventured into the world of digital marketing upon graduation and found herself navigating through various jobs and opportunities. Shortly after grad Erin started creating content online and shared her various interests and hobbies online. From there her personal brand starting to grow and shortly found herself opening more doors than before. Erin now works full-time with a company in which connects with her values, and as well spends time helping younger grads and students who are interested in digital marketing.

In Episode 49 of Beneath Vancouver Radio I chatted with the Drunk Engineers team composing of; Yohan, Cole and Kevin. This group of friends came together in 2020 and after a few drinks, Drunk Engineers was born. From a few ideas, to sketches and now boasting a global following the Drunk Engineers blew up the last few months. They brought their brains together to create new innovate ways to make drinking fun, with their ultimate goal of bringing people together, especially during these lonelier times. What started off as a fun idea is now starting to scale into a full-time business, and the boys are excited as ever to see what's in store for them.

In Episode 48 of Beneath Vancouver Radio I chatted with Lina Lecompte; recent UBC graduate, actress and content creator. Lina has always had a knack for creating, starting off her Youtube channel with personal travel vlogs and family content, before it was mainstream. Fast-forward to her time at UBC she noticed that there wasn't much content revolving around student life. A few videos later and Lina's Youtube videos started to spread around campus and from there her Youtube journey rocketed. Outside of Youtube Lina still loves to be in front of the camera and is constantly searching for new acting roles here in Vancouver.

In Episode 47 of Beneath Vancouver Radio I chatted with Dina Lu; calligrapher and full-time business owner. Dina started her journey in entrepreneurship through the creative arts, specifically calligraphy. In 2018 Dina found calligraphy as a way to spend more time with her mother and this allowed her to enjoy the finer things in life. Fast forward to 2021 and Dina is now a full-time modern calligrapher in Vancouver who specializes in teaching public and corporate team-building calligraphy workshops, as well helps companies elevate their events with on-site calligraphy.

In episode 30 of Beneath Vancouver Radio, I chatted with Stanley Rashai, a local content creator. I actually met Stanley about 2 years ago at a networking event when I first started Beneath Vancouver. Being a tad shy I never actually introduced myself, but I started following his work and slowly starting seeing more of him at future events.

Fast forward to today, Stanley and I have crossed paths many times and have been able to see each other venture in different projects, both succeeding and failing in them. In our chat, we talked about Stanley's own failures and successes and how it's important to reflect on those experiences. We are always wanting to chase the next step in our lives, but being aware of our own growth is important as well.

With that being said I appreciate all of our listeners for tuning in and hopefully, these podcasts provide not only insight to our community but help push you to become a better version of yourselves (whatever that may look like).

In episode 29 of Beneath Vancouver Radio I spoke with fellow podcaster Joe from the "Phresh Cup Of Joe" podcaster. Joe shared his journey on how he dabbled into podcasting, which all stemmed from his passion to share stories with others.

Joe went through some crazy times in university and there were many defining moments in his life. He took these moments and took something of value every time, regardless if it was a positive or negative outcome. In general, life may not always pan out the way we want it to, however as the saying goes "What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger". I think this saying is more powerful in the current climate and to know that we all have something to give to the this world.

In episode 27 of Beneath Vancouver Radio, I had the opportunity to chat with local DJ and good friend, Christopher Wan.

Chris has made a splash in the nightlife scene in Vancouver in the last few years and has established his brand within the city. Chris started off his DJ'ing career at university and learned everything from scratch. With the mentorship of others accompanied by his work ethic, Chris went from bedroom DJ to club DJ in a matter of time. 

Chris continues to learn different techniques and shows that there is already room to improve. I chatted with him about the "life of a DJ" and the balance that was needed with work and school. Chris is a prime example of how hard work and time can push you to where you want to be in life. Chris has also started to learn music production as he wants to impact others with his unique sound as well.
