Big Gay Friendship [Preview]
We’re talking about queer friendship, and the ways it can be expansive, affirming, and enriching in a world that teaches us to prioritize romantic monogamy over everything else. Turns out, it’s gay to be friends.

Queering Barbie
Hi Barbies! We’re talking about the Barbie movie, which we believe is a film about gender performance. We discuss Barbie as an ace icon, Ken’s compulsory heterosexuality, the homoerotic tension between the Kens, and all things gender. And of course, we beach off.

Friendshuationships (aka Complicated Friendships) [Preview]
Bisexuality 201
Welcome back to class! In Bisexuality 201, we get into the “symptoms” of bisexuality, the ways that bisexuality can intersect with other labels and identities, and how our understanding of ourselves can change and evolve as we do.
If you haven’t listened to Bisexuality 101 yet, you can find it in our feed! If you’ve listened to both episodes, you can download your completion certificate for FREE on our Patreon.
You can find out if you are experiencing any of the symptoms of bisexuality here: https://www.mindbodygreen.com/articles/am-i-bisexual
You can find the TikTok we mentioned here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3axq0ptvku/?igsh=MzY1NDJmNzMyNQ%3D%3D
Here are the reflection questions for your optional homework:
- What is your definition of bisexuality?
- Which labels feel the most true for you? Do any of your other identities chafe with or inform these labels?
- What would your life look like if you followed the societal “trellis”? What is the light you are growing toward now?

This time, we talk about Rebecca’s (questionable) heterosexuality, Valencia’s queer journey, AJ’s gender, and Daryll and White Josh’s relationship. Am I Queer Enough?
If you’re looking for the Queer DMV office so you can apply for your queer card and pay your membership dues, you’ve come to the right place!
Just kidding, it’s free to be gay! On this week’s episode, we chat with Flo Godineau about what it means to be bisexual enough and nonbinary enough. We also talk about backcountry skiing (as a metaphor about dating), and how Smallville fanfiction can make you queer.

Getting Bi - Queerness, Music, and Mental Health in Crazy Ex Girlfriend
This week, we’re talking about the television show Crazy Ex Girlfriend! In addition to being hilarious, smart, and out of the box, this show is very, very queer, which we love to see! There are three explicitly bisexual characters! While the show ran for four seasons (a surprise for Christina, who thought she’d seen the whole thing), we’ve recently rewatched the first couple of seasons so we mostly discuss those. The links below contain spoilers for season three!

The in-here is the out-there: empathy, self-compassion, and the pursuit of Beloved Community
How do we have difficult conversations with the people we love? Is it possible to extend self-compassion to ourselves when we've made a mistake or caused harm (is that allowed?)? How does anti-racism fit into all of this?
This episode gets into it!
We're joined by Roxy Manning, PhD (Clinical Psychologist) and Sarah Peyton (Neuroscience educator) to talk about Roxy's book "How to Have Antiracist Conversations" and the handbook Roxy and Sarah co-authored, "The Antiracist Heart".
This conversation (and these books!) align with many topics close to our hearts, and we're excited to share it with you!
Mentioned in this episode:
- How to Have Antiracist Conversations: Embracing Our Full Humanity to Challenge White Supremacy by Roxy Manning
- The Antiracist Heart: A Self-Compassion and Activism Handbook by Roxy Manning and Sarah Peyton
- Healing Resistance: A Radically Different Response to Harm by Kazu Haga
- The Freedom Project
- Roxy & Sarah's podcast, Fierce Compassion

Heartstopper
On this week's episode, we talk about the Netflix series, Heartstopper! This show has truly stolen our queer, tender, hearts. Chelsee also talks about the comic series the show is based on; you can find the first volume here: https://bookshop.org/a/83912/9781338617436
You can also read the comics for free, online, one issue at a time! Here's the Tumblr that started it all: https://heartstoppercomic.tumblr.com
*While talking about the comics and the character of Isaac, Chelsee mistakenly calls Aled (one of the protagonists of Radio Silence) 'Ahmed' - apologies for the misspeak on that!

We get radicalized by public health
In this week's episode, Christina and Chelsee talk to Grace Mackson, a public health professional, about queerness and public health in celebration of LGBTQ Health Awareness Week.
You can follow Grace on Twitter @GraceMackson.
If you're looking for local health resources, check out your local LGBT center: they'll often have links to places that are queer-friendly or even on-site services themselves. Also check out local community groups like Queer Exchange, where people often ask questions and trade hot tips about specific health services and doctors!
There are many resources out there to help you find a provider and a healthcare spot that you can trust and talk to them about health problems that you have. Also, your local health department might or might not have better resources than the CDC: check them out!
You can find links to more resources, including the Bi+ Resource Center and a PDF guide for coming out to your doctor, in last week's newsletter.

Casually Obsessed with Red, White and Royal Blue
This episode is about the very bisexual book "Red, White and Royal Blue"! It was originally recorded for Chelsee's solo project, Casually Obsessed. It's a spoiler free discussion, so you can listen even if you haven't read the book!
In the episode we talk about:
- Avoiding things that are popular;
- Our theories on why straight women like content about gay men;
- Quintessential queer experiences;
- Why books like this matter (even when their covers are bubble gum pink);
- Writing about an identity other than your own;
- Author's we want to be friends with (and maybe date);
- Perfect nights with chosen families.

What counts as a queer book?
In this week's episode, Chelsee and Christina talk about the novel Catherine House and queer representation in general. How much bisexual representation is enough bisexual representation? We don’t know!
