Shane Zeringue
Awarded the rank of Black Belt in January 2014, Professor Shane began his Jiu-Jitsu journey in 1996 when there were no Jiu-Jitsu academies nearby and he had to learn on his own. Through books, instructional videos, and dedication he practiced the art. He tested himself through competition and was very successful. As Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grew, he found Revolution Dojo in Houston, TX and regularly traveled there to further learn and improve. Throughout the years he trained in several martial arts, however, his passion stayed with traditional BJJ. His journey came with new rewards when he began to teach in 2000. In 2009 he moved to the Austin area for the great opportunities it held for his family and continued to teach while maintaining a relationship with his Instructors and Mentors. In 2015 he once again united with his original team.
With a focus on teaching the evolving sport of Jiu-Jitsu, he emphasizes to students the importance of the Basics. He continues to compete when possible and was most recently awarded a bronze medal at the 2012 IBJJF Pan American Championships. When not competing, Professor Shane supports his team in their goals. He has grown very successful kids programs and won team trophies at local tournaments. But when asked his biggest success as an instructor he replies, “Being a part of the life-changing experience my students have through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.......”
