The Patchwork Man
Tonight, we’ll explore a children’s game with a dark secret! Nestled deep among hills and evergreen trees, there rests a quiet town with a curse. Once every decade or so, a strange song reemerges among the children in the schoolyard, and in its wake-- disappearances. Surely a coincidence, right? But, hark! Can you hear the haunting melody floating on the breeze? It’s been about ten years since Jimmy Smythe disappeared, and I’m thinking there might be something to this Patchwork Man after all… This story is called: Does anyone remember the rhyme about the Patchwork Man? And the picture game? And was written by Quincy Lee…. Author's catalogue of stories: https://shorturl.at/tuyY1 Link to this story: https://shorturl.at/sBU69
The Masque of the Red Death
Tonight, I have a real treat to share with you! It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories; I’ve done several here on the channel already. I find that as I get older and revisit these stories, I appreciate them more and more, and find new things that delight and impress me each time I read them! I also find I can connect to the stories themselves more easily as my experience in the world grows. Allow me to set the stage for this story: A great and terrible disease—called the Red Death-- is sweeping across a medieval land. The prince of this land has decided that, rather than give aid of any kind, he would rather call up his closest…erm, 1000 friends, and wall all of them inside a secluded abbey. No one can get in, and no one can get out. There, they plan to party and wait it out, while the disease rages outside. All is well; the wine is flowing, the guests are dancing and mingling at an opulent masquerade ball, until a new guest arrives, dressed horribly as a victim of the Red Death. This story is called “The Masque of the Red Death”, and was written by Edgar Allan Poe.
Low Tide
Tonight, we’ll take a relaxing walk along the beach!
Our story opens as a young man takes a pause during his run down by the ocean.
As he decides to head back resume his routine, he meets 2 young ladies. They warn him to stay away from the water at low tide, because there have been many disappearances over the years as the tide has rolled out.
Of course, he dismisses their warning at first. But he quickly becomes a believer, when the first hand grabs his ankle from within the mud.

The Crematorium
Apologies for the week delay!
Tonight, we’ll stay true to our tagline, and have an episode of the macabre! Let me set the scene: deep in the heart of a prestigious New England college, we find a medical student working alone in the crematorium. Having just lost their grandfather, our student was given the job of caretaker while they’re on a leave of absence from classes. Despite what you and I might feel, the student enjoys the work there, and finds it comforting to stay busy. But that sense of safety is broken one night when a particularly strange cadaver arrives, and voices begin to whisper from the flames of the cremation chamber… This story is called “They Spoke Through the Fire”, and was written by Chomps_Lewis. The Pit
Tonight, we find ourselves bedside, regaled with a story of the OLD days!
Our scene opens in an assisted living facility, where our protagonists—a son and his father—sit together for a visit. All seems normal enough, until a moment of clarity comes across the father, and he tells a tale so frightening and so impossible that it can’t be true! But if there IS a kernel of truth to the yarn, then both men may find themselves the target of a malicious force undeterred by distance or time.

Uncle Ashford
Tonight, we shall meet a mysterious relative who lives in the mountains of Appalachia! Or rather, we shall discover him, since he is deceased when our story opens.
The shrewdest among you will have already guessed—Uncle Ashford! And was he a RICH uncle, I hear someone ask? Well. That depends on what “rich” means to you. Financially? Not really. Intellectually? Most certainly! But I’ll remind you that not all information is safe, and some doors of knowledge should stay closed.
This story is called “Uncle Ashford”, and was written by A.G. Hilton
I Was Raised as a Gift to the God in the Mountains
Tonight, we’ll head into the back country to a small but prosperous village nestled at the base of a mountain.
Ah! So you caught that. How could such an out of the way location enjoy such success? Well as it turns out, it isn’t luck. It isn’t even hard work. It’s something much more sinister—a secret hidden between the branches with the blood and bones.

The Tell-Tale Heart ....and Other Curiosities
Tonight, we’ll revisit a CLASSIC tale of secrets that just can’t stay buried for long! Earlier this year I alluded to the Tell-Tale heart after a story that dealt with the intersection of guilt and horror. I’ve come to realize that tonight’s protagonist doesn’t feel much guilt about what he’s done—it’s actually somewhat the opposite! Vexed by the eye of an old man, tonight’s protagonist (or is he the ANTAGONIST?) begins a routine of peering into his room during the witching hours, and becoming increasingly perturbed by the eye, until one evening when he can bear the wait no longer, and the unthinkable happens! This story is called The Tell-Tale Heart, and was written by Edgar Allen Poe…

A nice walk, that will bring us smack dab in the middle of a snowstorm on one of the darkest evenings of the year! Our protagonist has driven his car into a ditch, and must now seek help and a landline at a nearby farmhouse—isolated as it is. But will our intrepid young man find a welcoming, warm hearth? Or does something evil drift through the house, carried on the notes of a piano in a farther room? Broadcasting live from the center of a haunted merry-go-round, I will be your guide through the witching hours!
Tonight, we’ll explore the intersection of grief and horror! What lengths would you go to if you were driven by despair and grief, and what would the consequences be? After a terrible accident resulting in the loss of his brother, our protagonist struggles under the weight of his guilt, and his home life continually deteriorates. Scary enough as is, right? Even without the supernatural. But what if I sprinkle in a mysterious tent at the outskirts of a carnival? And the pitter patter of tiny, wet feet outside your bedroom door? Ahhhh, yes! That’s more like it!

I'm a Water Witch; Today, I Found Blood Instead of Water
Denizens of the night, welcome to another episode of the macabre; the terrifying. Broadcasting live from somewhere only a dowsing rod could locate, I will be your guide through the witching hours! Tonight, we will bump up against the supernatural again! Or, is it pseudoscience?! Our protagonist claims to be able to locate sources of water using only dowsing rods. She has the gift of dowsing, which manifests as physical sensations when she holds dowsing rods and gets close to an underground source of water. Business is good, and her success rate is astronomical! But what does it mean if a water witch cannot sense water at all? Not far away; or faint; but completely absent. What does that say about the land she stands on? This story is called “I’m a Water Witch. I Found Something Even My Abilities Can’t Explain”, and was written by Rory Solar... Tonight, we have somewhat of a Tell-Tale Heart situation on our hands! Have you ever seen something so shocking that the image of it feels like it’s BURNED into your brain? When you close your eyes, or have a quiet moment, that thought or image forces its way unbidden into your mind? Tonight’s protagonist has just such a thing happen to them after a traumatic car accident that resulted in the other driver losing his life. It’s not uncommon to project your fears or trauma into the world around you, and sometimes even SEE things from your imagination. But what if…. Those things you see grow MORE tangible, and not less? What if the things you think you see in the dark, could hurt you?

Tonight, our scene opens in the great, vast frontier of SPACE! …although not for long, as you’ll see. It occurs to me that not many of our stories take place off planet. It’s easier to keep you awake at night if the horror takes place close to home—in your own neighborhood or in your own bedroom. But with that said, you’ll find no shortage of horror here, and never any respite from it either. This story is called “Shifting Sands”, and was written by A.G. Hilton... 3 Classic Christmas Stories To Fall Asleep With on Christmas Eve
Denizens of the night, welcome to a special episode of Christmas cheer, and levity.
Broadcasting live from a dim corner of Santa’s Workshop, I will be your guide as you drift off into restful slumber.
Tonight, instead of keeping you awake, I thought it might be nice to completely turn this thing on its head, and read you some sweet classic short stories by a fire! You may have heard these stories before, but if you haven’t, you’re in for a treat! First is the The Gift of the Magi, written by O’ Henry. It’s a humorous tale of the sacrifices we make for those we truly love. After that, we’ll hear one I discovered just this year: A Christmas Dream, written by Louisa M. Alcott. It’s the story of a little girl who comes to appreciate what she has and learns the wonder of giving to others through a fantastic dream on Christmas Eve, and a special surprise the following day. Finishing the collection, we’ll hear that familiar poem—A Visit from St.Nicholas, written by Clement Clarke Moore.
Usually I like to reappear after the stories for a final word, but tonight you’ll hear no more from me after this. After our stories, we shall hear a few hours of the sound of wind and snow outside the window, as we snuggle deeper under the blankets and sleep soundly. Before I go, I want to thank you for all your support this year—I’ve enjoyed reading your comments, and it’s my pleasure to entertain you. If I’ve managed to make you smile, or better yet leave the hallway light on, just once this year… then it was all worth it.
Enjoy.

At My University Students are "Dropping Out" in DROVES
“Don’t ever ask that again, alright?” What? I turned around. Did the prof just whisper what I thought he did? He doubled down with a hushed response. “I’m not gonna say anything about it, but a word of advice. For your own good, just listen to the material and study it. You really don’t wanna be asking people around here questions like that. Are we clear?” "I'm in my first semester at a prestigious university. Students keep dropping out of their classes." was written by WorldAwayTweedy. The Backrooms
I rushed through the door to find Clay lying in the fetal position in a long hallway, stretching a distance to my left and right.
“Change the channel...change the...change the channel.”
Clay babbled incoherently as he sobbed on the floor.
“Clay? Clay you gotta get up.”

When I walk into a room... ALL THE LIGHTS GO OUT
“This is the six o’clock news, good evening. Top story today is of course the mysterious occurrence that shook the world. At 12:08 PM, the sun went out. The phenomenon lasted for nine minutes before the sun came back on and the daylight returned. It was not a solar eclipse, scientists agree, although no one has been able to come up with an explanation....” "Lights Out" appears in Nick Clausen's short story anthology "Chills and Creeps Vol. 1". Check it out here: shorturl.at/mqLNU Also, if you liked the combination of my narration and Nick's storytelling, check out our latest audiobook series here: shorturl.at/isDMT . We Broke Into an Abandoned Hospital... It was a HORRIBLE MISTAKE
"Finally, I stopped-- alright, this is far enough, time to tell everyone it’s time to leave, I thought. I opened my mouth. “Hey, guys?” They all stopped and turned to look at me. But before I could say anything more, all of our flashlights went out." "My friends and I broke into an abandoned hospital before it was demolished. It was a horrible mistake." was written by JLGoodwin1990 Link to the story: https://shorturl.at/yOP29 Link to the JL's other work: https://www.reddit.com/user/JLGoodwin1990/ And check out Dark Night Tales rendition of another one of JL's stories: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5mtvHKG6C4

The Man in the Mirror May Have Escaped
As I scrutinized the footage, my heart began to race. Suddenly, I noticed something that hadn't been there before - a figure standing in the center of the black square. The figure was so blurry that it was difficult to make out, but its presence was undeniable. As I continued to watch, the figure grew clearer and clearer, until it was standing directly in front of the camera, its eyes fixed on me... "I set up a contraption to make two mirrors face each other, and recorded it overnight. I will never buy a mirror again", was written by Kindadusty9089. Something is setting off our tornado alarms...IT'S NOT A STORM
'I never got to finish that thought. From above us came a bassy trumpet blast that did shatter glass. Everyone grabbed their ears and squatted to the ground as if that would make it disappear. I felt my internal organs vibrating. It was unsettling.
After the longest ten seconds in my life, the trumpet blast stopped. I looked over at my kids, and they were sobbing. Cindy did everything she could to hold them together. I ran over, my legs wobbly from the noise, and hugged them tightly. “Daddy, what’s going on?” my son asked, sobbing. “I dunno,” I said, deciding that honesty was better than not. “Is something coming for us?” my daughter said, fear rising in her voice.' We found some Japanese wishing dolls. There's something strange about one of them.
"Please make his wish come true too, Anna," I said, reaching out a hand to touch her, but quickly changed my mind. She still made me uncomfortable. I stared at her for a moment more, then looked away. Then immediately looked back again. Something seemed different about her.
I walked from side to side, trying to figure out what was different. Was it her pose? Did she get sun bleached? Nothing seemed to have changed much, not that I could tell.
Her hair, I realised, a chill dripping down my spine. Her hair was longer."

If Missing Livestock Returns... KILL IT
"All color drained from my face as I was greeted with the sight of the eight foot tall beast standing before me on its hind legs. Twenty Nines head was cocked sideways with one eye focused on me. Its pupil seemed to grow and shrink rapidly as it scanned over my entire body. Its lower jaw slowly moved up and down as it began to vocalize again.
