The Fight For Climate Justice

The Fight For Climate Justice

I remember the first time I really thought about climate change, I was sitting in my 6th grade English class, and my teacher started talking about the tragedy happening in New Orleans. It was 2004, George Bush was President. I remember watching videos of people who looked like me and my friends climbing their houses because their entire neighborhood was underwater. I had nightmares for weeks. I remember my teacher briefly telling us about how climate change (what she called Global warming at the time) created a powerful storm like Hurricane Katrina that damaged and caused levis to fail. Levis, a structure that was a symbol of humans conquering mother nature, and then.
*GEORGE BUSH DOESN’T CARE ABOUT BLACK PEOPLE*
Hurricane Katrina became a global symbol of how climate change, climate policy (or lack thereof) can disproportionately affect people of color. This in my adult life, has led me to consider the fight for Climate Justice.

How Race Science Created BMI and The Image of Modern American Health

How Race Science Created BMI and The Image of Modern American Health

There is an obesity epidemic in this country and poor people of color are particularly stigmatized as “diseased” and a burden on the public health care system. intellectuals all over the country argue that the ties between how we measure indicators of health are not only flawed but in fact, have a history rooted in the controversial race science of centuries ago. In this episode, I uncover how my experience having my BMI measured led me down a rabbit hole of information to uncover how the standards of American health were developed by racist ideology and is still upheld today.

Ep. 23 - Diabetes, The Real Cause & The Right Cure w/ Dr. John M. Poothullil

I've got a Special Surprise Bonus Episode For You! It is not logical that millions of modern adults and children around the world are suddenly becoming insulin resistant. How does taking insulin treat Type 2 diabetes if you are supposedly "resistant" to insulin? I hope that "Diabetes: The Real Cause and The Right Cure" will influence governments who are subsidizing grain-based agriculture literally create a world of diabetics. Cheap grain-based products are hurting low-income families around the globe. To change our eating habits, we must learn to eat mindfully, learn to respect our bodies, reconnect with our "authentic weight," and learn to enjoy food as nutrition for our bodies. Ep. 14 - Stepping Ahead of Trauma w/ Sue Bowles

On today's episode, I have a rockstar of a guest on the show. Sue Bowles, blew my mind with the level of mental fortitude that she has. The two of us come from two different walks of life, but we came together to talk about overcoming trauma. Through Sue’s story, we address how we can all work through the collective craziness happening right now in the world, but also how we can address our own traumatic experiences. As a trigger warning, some of the topics we discuss on this episode include rape, eating disorders, and suicidal ideation.

Ep. 2 - What it Means to Be a Man w/ Marvin Clark

In this week's episode, I explore the concept of manhood. I was raised in a pretty traditional masculine way, but the qualities of manhood are often lost. Many men think it means being boastful or meeting sexual accolades, but it's much more than that. My friend Marvin is the perfect example of a great man. He started off his journey being seen as small and weak, and while his physicality has strengthened over the years, it's his mental strength that truly exemplifies his manhood.
