Megan Lundstrom: Human Trafficking Survivor and Co-Founder of The Avery Center
In this episode, I was able to speak with Megan Lundstrom, who is the Co-Founder and CEO of The Avery Center in Greeley, Colorado. Lundstrom also happens to be a survivor, which makes this episode very special.
In the episode, Lundstrom refers to the movie Taken (2008). This movie is about a father and the search for his missing daughter and her friend. During the movie, viewers learn that the daughter and friend are victims of sex trafficking. I don't want to spoil too much; however, follow this link for more information on the movie https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0936501/.

Lynnette Grey Bull- Interview with Not Our Native Daughters Founder
Welcome to the next episode!
In this interview, I was able to speak with Lynnette Grey Bull, who has done extensive research on violence against Indigenous women, sex trafficking, started the nonprofit, Not Our Native Daughters, and ran for congress in Wyoming. It was an honor to speak with Grey Bull as she continues to do so much work for the Wind River Reservation and Wyoming.
As I am still learning and recognizing my White privilege, please be aware of some of the language I used during this interview. When discussing "tribes," it is vital that "Nations" are used instead of "tribes." Using the term "Nations" shows respect for each Native nation and their independence. As I am still learning, please learn more by following this link: https://nativegov.org/news/how-to-talk-about-native-nations-a-guide/.
I also refer to the mistreatment of Indigenous people within the podcast, and while there is not enough time to cover all of history, I am referring to the long history of genocide against Native American people, starting with White colonization, civil rights violations, and the discrimination that continues to this day.
Also, please be aware that I am referring to the University of Wyoming when I say UW or "U-Dub."
I am so glad you are all here to learn alongside me. For more information on Not Our Native Daughters, please follow the links below:
Ashley Garcia- Learning From a Survivor
Welcome back!
In this episode, I interviewed Ashley Garcia, a survivor of sex trafficking. Garcia not only is a survivor, but she also volunteers for Uprising, which was discussed in the first episode. I have done extensive research on this topic, which is so important, and now I am able to add to that research with Garcia's lived experience.

Welcome!
This is the trailer episode to this podcast. I am so happy you are here to listen and learn!
According to the United States Department of State Trafficking In Persons Report from 2021, human trafficking is defined as "sex trafficking in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such an act has not attained 18 years of age; or the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor or services, through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery."
There are many other definitions that may be more simple than that, so please check out these organizations: Uprising, The Avery Center, Not Our Native Daughters, and even The Polaris Project for more information! The coming episodes will highlight different organizations in Wyoming that focus on anti-trafficking efforts, as well as help us learn more about what sex trafficking looks like in Wyoming.
I am so glad you are here and ready to learn! Enjoy!

Learn about Uprising with Terri Markham
In this episode, I interviewed Terri Markham with Uprising in Sheridan, Wyoming. This is a great episode to learn what sex trafficking looks like in Wyoming, but also in rural areas. Again, this episode does discuss the issue of sex trafficking, so be aware of the content that may arise.
