Prose and Cons - Episode 2 : Mary Jean Chan
In this episode, Cassandra explores the powerful impact of Mary Jean Chan’s non-Anglophone upbringing on her poetry and poetics. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Chan writes from the intersection of cultures, languages, and identities—bringing Cantonese inflections and a diasporic lens into English verse. We examine how her bilingual background shapes her themes of queerness, voice, and belonging, and how her poetry navigates the tension between inherited tradition and self-invention.

Yap now, cry later—Episode 1: Political TikTok and The Meat Dress
From vintage 'Vines' to modern 'Music.ly's', join us as we deep dive into the watershed moments of our generation. Spanning from Lady Gaga's meat dress to Barbie-fuelled phenomena, this light-hearted, witty and fast-paced podcast is sure to make you laugh and yap. Not forgetting some fresh and new conspiracies to whip out in that boring Tuesday afternoon seminar. Our school education comprised of too much history on the British Empire and not enough on Gen Z's 'Roman Empire'. So, rather than following taught theories to explain the world around us, as avid politics students, we opt for a more digestible take built on iconic pop culture moments. Our view is that these moments have shaped our generation's place in the world today. So this podcast will fill a gap in the market left by too much bland, grey-haired waffle and instead, invite more approachable and accessible discussions for any and all at UOB. So, whether you need some white noise to drown out that annoying housemate, a good laugh to cure the hangxiety or some general company, we've got you covered. In each episode, we will review the week's events through the lens of viral moments traced back to the historical roots of pop culture. So refresh your twitter feed, delete sky news notifications and tune in to 'Yap now, cry later.'
