Sleep is the Magic Supplement- Dr. Greg Wells talks Sleep, Stress and Precision Nutrition's New Course!
Everyone on a fitness or lifestyle journey is bombarded with supplements to buy. Get the latest fat burner, the best protein powder or the next detox guaranteed to help you reach your goals. Can I ask you a question? Has that magic supplement done what it promised? Most likely, no. The real magic supplement doesn't come in a bottle. It can be taken literally any where and the best part is it is free to use. Sleep is that magic supplement. Sleep is so undervalued in the grand scheme of our wellness routine. We have a routine for the morning, the commute to work, work itself and an at home routine...Why not a sleep routine? Maybe if I put it this way... "This new supplement will change your life. It will give you sharper mental focus, a better pump in the gym, easier weight control and is a natural appetite suppressant. This game changer also can boost mood and cognitive function." Today, We talk with Dr Wells about sleep, stress and Precision Nutrition and their fantastic new course on Sleep and Stress Management. Three Strategies to Defeat Limiting Beliefs
I use to struggle with limiting beliefs about myself when it came to diet and losing weight. I would try losing weight, jump on the scale and see it either didn't move or went up a little and thought "I screwed up again". Then the yo-yo cycle would continue.  That is an example of a limiting belief. They are these beliefs that come from sticky thoughts that keep us rooted in the places we don't want to be yet can't seem to get away from. In this episode I have given you three sure-fire techniques that you can implement right now, to begin to get unstuck and really reach your goals. I hope that this is helpful to you. Don't Diet During the Holidays
I know the title is off putting. Stay with me.  A majority of people that attempt to diet fail at long term success. This is backed by study after study. There is also a reported increase in psychological issues and mental health decline around the holiday season. Many people that are dieting will attempt to continue through the holiday season only to fail and see themselves as some sort of failure. The thing is, it isn't your fault. You are not the failure. It is the system in which you are attempting to work, it simply does not work for you. This is where the idea of not dieting during the holidays comes from.  During this episode I give you several nutritional, psychological and behavioral tips to navigate the holidays, enjoy your time with friends and family and still work on your goals. I really hope that this is helpful to you. Remember, you deserve your health. See You Next Week, Clint Contact us: Study:

Five Behavior Techniques to Help You Navigate a Night Out
Number one red flag that your "diet" is too restrictive? "I can't eat there".  Listen, life is about enjoying the little things right? Well appetizers are little things. We must enjoy them.  All joking aside, in this episode we give you five behavioral strategies that you can use RIGHT NOW to help change your relationship with diets, with eating out and the whole concept of flexibility. We want you to be able to have your cake and eat it to, while reaching your goals. I know, that sounds impossible, but it isn't. It is more about your overall relationship with nutrition, how you approach stress and food related binges (or restrictions) and the make-up of what you eat day-to-day. There is no "hack" that will lead to sustainability. There is however the ability to learn to be psychologically flexible and focus on consistency through continued practice. In this episode we deliver 5 sure-fire things you can begin to use that will help you change that relationship with food. You deserve your health. Sometimes that means eating the pizza and taking the data.  check us out:

Diets, Goals, and Behavior Traps
"I keep trying to lose weight but nothing is working". Heard that before? Have you said it before? Are you saying it now? If you have answered yes to any of those questions, this short episode is for you. In episode 31 I talk about how sometimes the things we think are goals are really nothing more than a previous failed attempt that we clung to with some minimal success. These are also known as behavior traps. We get trapped in a cycle of behavior that is centered around a goal that may not even be our idea in the first place.  I also share more on the 3 C's of goal creation so that you can ensure success instead of falling into the behavior trap.  I hope this has been helpful to you! BC Pod Appetizer: Response Effort
Does it ever seem like too much effort to cook a meal when you get home so you opt for take out? Do you have a hard time sticking to your nutritional goals due to things seeming too hard to follow? Maybe there is an issue with response effort in your life. Response effort, essentially is how hard or easy it is to do something, that dictates what we may choose to do. (For the ABA crowd, we go more in depth in the Appetizer). Simply put, you may be seeing issues with your nutritional goals, or any goals for that matter because it is behaviorally expensive to do the thing you wish to do and is far simpler to do the thing you want to change! How do we fix that? Give this episode a listen to learn more. As always, reach us at!

Samantha's Journey to Nutritional Flexibility
Hey all! Sorry for the absence. Life GOT REAL BUSY. We're back now. This is one of two back logged episodes that we recorded a couple of months ago. I'm so excited to bring you the story of Samantha! I will let her tell you about herself! Samantha: "I am a therapist, and I have a story to share about how I've changed my own eating habits. I had a pretty typical American diet (heavy in processed foods/ convenience foods). I was sick, and I tried changing my diet as a way to heal some of my underlying health issues. I would go on really strict protocols, and I would see results. However, they were so hard to stick to that I would eventually bounce back to my old ways of eating.  Obviously, a lot of extremes and black and white thinking and behaving isn't super effective for long term change!  I changed my whole approach and found that simple, sustainable systems were the key to making a long-lasting healthy change. I also discovered that I didn't have to be so strict to get the benefits of a healthy diet." Check her out at and on Instagram @.samanthaosbornetherapy make sure you leave us a 5 star review on either Facebook or Apple podcasts!!

History Doesn't Have to Repeat: jackie's Story
Well, it is finally here! I am so excited to bring you Episode 1 of the Human Series! In this series we here from real people who have real stories about nutritional behavior change. In today's episode I am joined by Jackie! I will let her explain a little about herself later on in the show notes. Jackie has a great story of how our learning history does not have to control who we are or what we do, but can inform the future decisions we make!! Jackie struggled with a life of yo-yo dieting from a young age and as a busy adult found herself climbing into the same rut. She was able to see the patterns and lean on her personal history as well as some learned nutritional behaviors, to change the future outcomes to what she wanted them to be. Listen to this episode and be encouraged by an amazing story of Behavior Change and honesty.  About Jackie:  Jackie Jackson is beginning her journey as an entrepreneur using all the tools for her experiences in teaching, behavior analysis and nutrition. Just two years ago,  Jackie was deeply struggling with her health and was faced with a choice: accept that she would never be “healthy” or find her own health. Since then she has gone on an incredible health journey and is now passionate about helping others do the same! Hey all! Happy Thanksgiving from The Behavior Chef Team! I hope you all have a great holiday, (if you celebrate) and hope you have a great day if you don't celebrate! I hope that today's episode will be one that is so valuable to you. At the beginning of October I had the extreme pleasure to interview Dr. Steven Hayes, creator of Relational Frame Theory and more currently, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. We discussed several topics including ACT and the application to nutrition, pivoting towards personal success and the details behind his new book A Liberated Mind (which can be found at or anywhere books are sold).  My hope for this episode is that you, the listener, get to come along the journey with us to a more vulnerable self-discovery. I know I was able to access a deeper part of myself and relate it to my own personal behavior journey through this conversation with Dr. Hayes and I hope that you can too.  Thanks for Listening! -Clint Evans BCBA-LBA
