I Am Rockstar - School Holidays Program 2023
I am Rockstar was a 3 day school holiday music program series with the ultimate Rockstar coach - Zee Gachette.
The days were are follows:
Day 1 - Learn how to own the stage, performance techniques, audience engagement
Day 2 - Explore your instrument and make the most of it (Guitar, Voice, Drums etc)
Day 3 - Let's ROCK - The ultimate Jam session using LIVE performance skills

Flood Stories from Main Arm Upper Public School Part 3 - Young Legends
Enjoy part 3 of Young Legends - Flood Stories from Main Arm Upper Public School. This episode catches up with the young people a year after the devastating floods that occurred in the Northern Rivers in 2022.
Young Legends - Flood Stories is an integrated arts, recovery, & wellbeing project that focuses on the cathartic experience of storytelling. This project focuses on the format of podcasting, which is a personal and public experience.
Grade 5 & 6 from Main Arm Upper Public School were supported by trained youth workers as they told their personal experiences of the devastating floods of 2022 in the Northern Rivers. Such supported storytelling built resilience and provided a cathartic experience for young people ‘to feel lighter’ after telling their stories.
This project was made possible by funding from the Regional Youth Radio Program from the NSW Government Department of Regional NSW.
This podcast was produced by Monet Shortland, Rasela Torise and Lealah Shostak and managed by the Byron Youth Service Inc.

Max on the road - Pave the Way to Gular Festival 2022
Max and Tilly Tancred takes us to Gulargambone for the fourth 'Pave the Way to Gular Street Art Festival'. Where street art is made in front of your eyes with 3 newly installed Billboards on the Riverwalk as canvasses for 6 artists to paint provocative concepts such as climate change, mental health, animal extinction and Biodiversity to add intrigue and stimulate conversations.
There was also a street party to close the festival including live entertainment, a range of market stalls including food vans, and workshops. Max and Tilly take the opportunity to meet the artists and get to know the locals.
BMF Youth Stage - Kaliya Lee & Concrete Gold
Byron Music Festival and Byron Youth Service have teamed up to provide an exciting and potentially career defining opportunity for four local artists from the Northern Rivers youth community.
You will hear from the BMF Youth Stage Team, Kalia Lee & Concrete Gold.
BMF Youth Stage is a two-month music mentoring program developed by Byron Music Festival and Byron Youth Service to encourage creation of new works by emerging artists between 12-24 years.
Through an online audition process, four artists have been selected to work alongside four of our region’s most renowned and successful musicians who have mentored and helped the young artists produce an original song at a local recording studio.
The culmination is a radio-ready song for release and a showcase performance at Byron Youth Arts Centre (YAC) on Saturday 15 October 2022.
The Showcase community event will include an all-day showcase of the talent of our local youth, food & beverage, and hangs in the sun with family and friends!
Byron Youth Service General Manager Christian Tancred said "This is a fantastic opportunity for young artists to plug into and gain experience in the music business. Byron Music Festival has been a terrific supporter of the music program at The YAC and we are stoked to be able to continue this relationship and foster the next generation of local artists".

Women In Music Forum 2023
WMIF is in it's second year and is an event that offers professional development opportunities to local women in the music industry and is specifically designed to benefit women in regional areas.
The WMIF is part of Project U -Turn, which is a grassroots project focusing on creating safer communities and building resilience. The WMIF offers opportunities for early intervention, community capacity building, employability, life skills training and support.
"It is a fun day of music, internationally acclaimed speakers, learning, empowerment and connection", says Lindy Lou, the producer of the WMIF.
