Calvary Church with Robbie Hilton
By Calvary Church

From a Mess to Messiah | Robbie Hilton
Matthew 1 opens with the genealogy of Jesus, highlighting not only the fathers of the faith but also several unexpected mothers in His lineage. Women like Tamar and Bathsheba had complicated, even scandalous stories—yet God intentionally included them in the bloodline of the Messiah. Their broken circumstances didn’t disqualify them; instead, God redeemed their stories to fulfill His redemptive plan. In the same way, God can use the parts of your story that feel messy or painful to bring about new life—not just for you, but for those around you as well.

Stop Telling Me What To Do | Bishop Courtney McBath
In this sermon, we explore the idea that too often, we approach God with a laundry list of our wants and needs, directing Him on what we believe should be done. However, God is not our servant—He is our guide. Instead of telling God what we think we need, we are called to humbly ask Him to reveal the next steps for our lives. True faith isn’t about presenting our own plan; it’s about trusting Him to direct our path. This message encourages us to shift our focus from demanding answers to seeking His wisdom in every situation.

Make it Make Sense | Robbie Hilton | Calvary Church
In this sermon, we explore how God desires to use your future self to fulfill His purpose, even when your past feels confusing or painful. Life’s challenges and setbacks can sometimes make it hard to see beyond the present, but God is always working behind the scenes, preparing you for what’s ahead. Join us as we dive into Scripture to understand how letting go of past disappointments and embracing God’s vision for your future can help everything "make sense" in His perfect plan.

Jesus: The True Tabernacle Among Us | Robbie Hilton
In this powerful video, we explore how Jesus Christ fulfills the ultimate purpose of the Tabernacle and the Temple in Scripture, becoming the true dwelling place of God among His people. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus replaces the physical temple and brings the presence of God directly to us. We uncover the profound meaning of Christ as the new Tabernacle—His body, broken for us, becomes the holy place where heaven touches earth. We'll examine the rich biblical themes that point to Jesus as the fulfillment of God's promise to dwell with His people, and how His crucifixion and the judgment on Jerusalem in 70 AD marked the end of the old covenant system, inaugurating a new era where believers are now the temple of the Holy Spirit. When we are in Christ, we are in the holy place. Heaven has been brought to earth, and through His sacrifice, we are invited into intimate fellowship with God, no longer needing a physical temple. Join us as we unpack the deep theological truths that reveal Jesus as the true Tabernacle, and how His work on the cross transforms our understanding of God's presence in the world today. #Jesus #Tabernacle #Temple #HeavenOnEarth #NewCovenant #Crucifixion #70AD #GodWithUs #BibleStudy #ChristianTheology

Canceled // Richard Hilton
Drawing inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, Pastor Richard explains how Christ not only paid the price for our sins but also modeled forgiveness, grace, and unconditional love.
Just as Christ canceled our debt of sin, we are called to let go of the things that hold us captive—especially fear and grudges. By forgiving others and trusting in God's provision, we release the power of fear and debt over our lives, and walk in the freedom Christ has already made possible for us.

Relational Death and the New Covenant // Robbie Hilton
This sermon explores the concept of relational death and its connection to sin and the law, particularly through the lens of Paul’s teachings in Romans.
Here’s a summary of the key points:
The Law as the Cause of Death: The sermon begins by emphasizing that the law, in a spiritual sense, is what causes someone to be "dead." This doesn't refer to physical death, but to relational death—being separated from God. Paul’s letter to the Romans explains that the law reveals sin, and without it, we wouldn't recognize our need for salvation. Romans 7:9 is referenced, where Paul says, "I was once alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin came alive and I died."
Relational Death in Adam's Fall: The idea of relational death is tied to Adam’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden. When God told Adam that eating from the tree would lead to death, it was not a physical death but a relational one—Adam’s sin caused a break in his relationship with God, casting him outside of God's covenant.
The Death Jesus Conquered: This sermon argues that the primary death Jesus came to conquer was not physical death, but relational death. Through Jesus' atonement and sacrifice, believers now enter into a new covenant with God, one that does not require the rituals of animal sacrifices or strict adherence to the Old Testament law. Jesus' death and resurrection provide a way to restore the broken relationship with God, offering a new way of relating to Him without the need for the law to define that relationship.
The New Covenant in Christ: The sermon highlights that through Christ's sacrifice, Christians are freed from the law’s power to condemn. This new covenant is based on grace and faith, offering believers forgiveness and a restored relationship with God without the burden of the Old Testament law.In essence, this sermon teaches that relational death—the separation from God due to sin—was the primary issue that Jesus came to address. While physical death is important, the real victory in Christ is the restoration of our connection with God, which had been severed by sin and the law.

Walking and Waiting // Derrick Hudson
Today, we reflect on the significance of prayer, noting how Jesus frequently withdrew to commune with the Father. In His example, we find a call to patiently await the blessings He has in store for us. Yet, in our eagerness, we often struggle with this waiting. There are moments when we are called to walk in faith and other times when we must embrace the art of waiting with faith.

Worship in the Wilderness // Robbie Hilton
We know what it's like to worship when everything is going right around us and in the world, but do we know how to worship in the wilderness? Let's look at what the Bible says the Israelites did on their exodus out of Egypt and the parallels it makes to the New Covenant. Do we know what it's like to not go back to the old way? How can we set forth in the New Covenant relationship Jesus established for us.

Don't Look Back // Robbie Hilton
In this message with Pastor Robbie Hilton we explore the profound relationship between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. In the Old Testament, we examine how the Israelites were tempted to cling to the Old Covenant, despite God's call to move forward. In the New Testament, the book of Hebrews conveys to not look back at the Old Covenant but to embrace in the New Covenant established by Jesus Christ. Join us as we uncover the significance of embracing the new covenant in Christ, the transformative power of faith, and the power of what Jesus said about Heaven and Earth passing away. Whether you're seeking a deeper understanding of scripture or looking for encouragement to move forward in your faith, this sermon is for you. Don’t miss this opportunity to reflect on what it truly means to leave the past behind and embrace the new life God has for us.

Jesus is our Rest // Robbie Hilton
In this sermon we explore the Exodus of the Old Testament AND the New Testament. The 40 year Exodus of Israel traveling to the promised land of Canaan parallels greatly with the 40 year Exodus of the Old Covenant into the New Covenant after Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. Like the Israelites turning back to the law after not entering into the promised land, Jesus cautions us to not turn back to the Old Covenant, which is filled with sacrifices and atonement made by animals.
Instead, Jesus claims He is our ultimate rest. He is our atonement. We find rest in the finished work of Jesus on the cross, the old covenant being done away with, and the temple being destroyed in 70AD.

A Generous Mindset // Robbie Hilton
Explore the transformative impact of choosing generosity, no matter the circumstances. Shifting your mindset can create abundance and joy, enhancing your life and those around you. With practical insight we can begin to cultivate a giving spirit in a world that often focuses on scarcity.

What the World Needs Now // Richard Hilton
With so much fear and uncertainty going around our world, you may have asked the question, "what does this world need now?" In this sermon, Pastor Richard Hilton answers just that. We are not in this world alone. Instead God walks with us and desires to be with us. Knowing God's heart is to love us and be with us leads us to following in the footsteps of Jesus, therefore answering His call and loving others like He does as they see Him reflected in our lives. So, what does this world need? Jesus and Christians who look like Him. -------------- Welcome to Calvary Church of Johnson City, Tennessee's YouTube channel! Give God Your Best // Robbie Hilton
God deserves nothing but our absolute best. In this sermon Pastor Robbie Hilton delves into the life of Daniel to show us an example of someone giving God his best even in situations that weren't great. God sent his Son Jesus to save us from our sins so that we would have what He called "abundant life" regardless of our circumstances. Jesus' desire is for us to be exceptional and in order for us to take on that identity we must have exceptions in our life. We've all heard the phrase "The devil made me do it"... but did he really? In this series, Pastor Robbie Hilton describes the nature of who our true enemy is and how we can rest assured that we are victorious in Jesus. ------------- Welcome to Calvary Church of Johnson City, Tennessee's YouTube channel!
