Episode 9: My Creative and Spiritual Awakening

Episode 9: My Creative and Spiritual Awakening

My spiritual awakening is something I will forever be grateful for. In many ways, this feels like I've escaped the "Matrix." It wasn't easy at first but over time working with a therapist has given me the confidence to embrace all the different parts of myself and my values.

My creative awakening has allowed me to express myself in ways I never imagined possible. I've started experimenting with painting, black-and-white photography, and writing as a daily hobby. I feel very happy when I get to do these activities. I feel like my mind and soul expand each time I reconnect with myself. I feel like a portal opens when I pursue my creative passions. Fashion has been another way for me to express my creative awakening. Each outfit is an opportunity for me to experiment, explore and discover the breadth of my creativity.

I've also reconnected with my old hobbies such as tennis, soccer, basketball, and competitive volleyball. I feel younger again. I am also listening to music and going back to some of my favorite fashion trends 10 years ago. I love Lady Gaga, Alexander McQueen, and Avril Lavigne. These visionaries created works based on truth, justice, and being yourself all the time. They had the confidence and audacity to be themselves which I admire.

My hobbies are an expression of my inner world and the way I feel on the inside reflects on how I dress. I hope this episode inspires you to embrace your own uniqueness and be unapologetic about who you are and who you want to be.

Episode 8: Comme des Garçons and Early Childhood Education

Episode 8: Comme des Garçons and Early Childhood Education

Comme des Garçons was unlike anything I had seen before. I remember wearing my CDG x Converse Chuck Taylors and I loved the wear they made me feel. I could tell that CDG was daring and unafraid to stand out. Since then, I've been a huge fan of Comme des Garçons' clothes and shoes. I also recently found a nail salon in West Hollywood that specializes in Japanese gel and nail art. I recreated the playful heart logo on my nails and I couldn't be happier!

I also completed my studies in Early Childhood Education. I'm so thankful to have this time to volunteer and work with children because it helped me discover my own passion for fashion and creativity. It taught me never to be afraid of standing out from the crowd and always to stay true to myself.

I am a firm believer that knowledge is power and the more you know, the better you will be in life! I am currently working as an assistant teacher at a local children’s center and have been learning so much from all of my experiences there.

Every day I am grateful for being able to express myself through fashion and my work. When I wear Comme Des Garcon, it makes me feel like I'm a part of something bigger than just me—I'm part of a larger culture and community that celebrates fearlessness and creativity. It's empowering!

Episode 7: The Gifts of Beauty and Song

Episode 7: The Gifts of Beauty and Song

I had heard lots of great things about the Walt Disney exhibition in the Huntington Library, so I was really looking forward to my visit! What I found there was beyond my expectations. There were incredible paintings, manuscripts and sculptures - it felt like a dream!

It was amazing to see how Walt Disney had created classic characters and stories that have become so beloved across generations. Seeing those works in person made me reflect on the power of creativity and the impact it can have on the world. It also gave me a deeper appreciation for his work, which is why I'm such a fan of Walt Disney! I think he is a fantastic entrepreneur, artist and entertainer! In this episode I talk about my love for art, Disney and Tchaikovsky! And why it's important for us to incorporate child-like wonder and exploration in our everyday lives.

Episode 6: The Importance of the Humanities: Why I love Philosophy and Art History

Episode 6: The Importance of the Humanities: Why I love Philosophy and Art History

I think the humanities are so important, and here's why: they help us to understand ourselves and the world around us better. They allow us to explore different cultures and perspectives, and they teach us how to think critically about the world we live in. The humanities can also be a lot of fun - they give us a chance to learn about things we might not have otherwise considered! In this podcast I will share with you my favorite subjects that I studied during my time at LMU.

Episode 3: Beautiful Vietnamese Values That I Grew Up With

Episode 3: Beautiful Vietnamese Values That I Grew Up With

Today, I am grateful for the culture of Vietnam. The warmth, hospitality and love that permeates my soul from years of experiencing the joys of my cultural traditions is second to none.

My culture has a lot of respect for fellow elders, being family oriented, respecting one’s reputation, loyalty, education, being feminine as a Vietnamese woman and celebrating Tet Lunar New Year. These are the Vietnamese values I cherish. Although I have moved to the U.S, I do my best to instill these values in my everyday life. It is challenging but so fulfilling and rewarding to me.

I'm also grateful for the American culture that gave me the freedom to be who I am and combine both Eastern and Western values as I navigate my new life here.

Thank you so much Vietnam, I love you. #Vietnam#Vietnamesefood#Vietnameseculture

Episode 2: How to Cope Being Away from Family During Holidays

Episode 2: How to Cope Being Away from Family During Holidays

Loneliness is a challenge that we all have to deal with from time to time. No matter how well you speak English, there is nothing quite like being home around the people and things you love during the holidays. I have spent a lot of time alone since I came to the United States. I’ve learned to love myself more and realized how important it is to be happy with who you are. I found the best way to deal with loneliness is by being grateful and enjoying my time doing the things that I love.

Remember that it is okay to feel alone. It's a big world out there and you don't have go through this by yourself. That's why I'm building a community of support and sharing the resources which have helped me overcome those moments and I would love for you to be part of it. Keep coming back to the podcast and my blog and leave a comment. I would love to hear how you dealt with loneliness when you studied abroad.
