One of the things we’ve asked in this season is for you to send in questions or thoughts you’d like to hear us talk about. Today, that’s what we’re doing! Someone asked us to talk about how hurts (whether past or recent) can affect our desire and/or our confidence to lead. We’ll also talk through how to work through those hurts. This one gets pretty real and raw, but that just means it’s really good. If you’re able, maybe notebook, pen, cup of coffee, or some Kleenex. Who knows you might find yourself needing some.  We’re talking Daddy Issues on this episode of Charge the Champion.

This week on Charge the Champion you’ll hear from our good friend Stephany Peterson. Stephany and her husband Jason, have been friends of ours for several years. However, they are the kinds of friends that you feel like you’ve known for a long time. They’ve walked through hard stuff with us and have been an incredible support for us. Over the last several years, Stephany has had to navigate some medical issues of her own and we’ll talk about what that’s looked like and how she’s overcome in the midst of difficulty. Also, by the way, if the audio seems weird or if it seems like I’m not in the room with Ashlee and Stephany, it’s because… I’m not. Ashlee went out to spend the week in sunny San Diego with Stephany and left me in gloomy Indiana, so she and stephany are chillin’ together on this one. Anyhow, We can’t wait for you to meet her, so let’s get to it, FAM. You won’t be disappointed you hopped on today!

This week on Charge the Champion, it’s part 2 of our conversation with Chocolate Bear. Last week’s episode was SO good we had to split it into two parts. Just as a reminder, Chocolate Bear, AKA Chris Reynolds, is the Executive Global Pastor at Gateway Fellowship Church in San Antonio, Texas. He oversees staff and the functions of their multi-site campuses. He truly is a leader of leaders, but most importantly we’re able to call him a friend. This week on Charge the Champion, we’re joined by an incredible friend of ours… Christopher Reynolds, although most people call him Chocolate Bear! Chocolate Bear is the Executive Pastor of Global Ministries at Gateway Fellowship Church in San Antonio, Texas, overseeing their soon to be 11 campuses! Along the way he’s spent years impacting young people in Student ministries, and speaking at Camps and conferences around the world! He’s a leader of leaders and Ashlee and I are so blessed to call him a friend! Grab something to write with and a notebook… it’s gonna be so good! So good, in fact, we thought we’d make this one a two-parter!

We know it’s been a handful of weeks since a new episode’s dropped, but we’ve been busy! Sure, busy with life… but also busy with some incredible interviews that we’re about to let you in on over the next few weeks! Becky has been a shining example of living Faithfully through every season of her life and over the last several years, Ashlee and I’ve been able to have a front row seat to that. This week, on Charge the Champion, we take a look at 3 types of friendships and why it’s important to have friendships for a reason, for a season, and friendships that last a lifetime. Ashlee and I have been blessed with some incredible friendships over the years and we have also felt the pain of friendships mis-labeled. If you are breathing, you have probably felt pain from those who we called friends as well. Knowing what kind of friendships you have will help you to avoid frustration and pain and will propel you forward into more purpose filled relationships with others. Let’s Go!

In this week’s episode of charge the champion, we are going to revisit our interview with Josh. If you have never had the privilege of meeting Josh in person, this podcast interview episode, along with Episode 6, where we began his interview, give you a pretty good view into this incredible human being. He is wise, funny, and absolutely, incredibly, awkward. This episode will leave you feeling challenged and uncomfortable in all the best ways. So lean in, friends, as we hear the heart of a true champion. 

It’s Mother’s Day Weekend! And, in honor of all moms out there, whether you’re a physical momma, or a spiritual one, or just know a momma somewhere, we are going to take a break from our interview episode to share some wisdom about how you can be a champion in the Job Journeys of your lives. So grab a notebook, and a cup of coffee, and maybe even grab yo’ mama and get prepared to charge the champion.

And you are in for a real treat because, although my husband is wise beyond his years, his incredible humility often prevents others from knowing the extent of that wisdom. Josh lives godly leadership out loud through his everyday decisions, actions, and conversations. And over these next two weeks, you’re going to get a small glimpse into what I have the honor of living up close to. We will cover a broad range of topics like overcoming setbacks in life, the value, importance, and strategies for living a pure life as a young man both single and married, and we are even going to get to hear the time Josh, the master of making awkward situations happen, tell the story of the time that he, himself, felt the most awkward.  So get ready, as we hear from a true champion in my life, and the life of so many others, Pastor Josh Mullin.

We had so much fun in the last episode that we decided that we should split it into two parts. Listen in as we hear how Ashlee answers some pretty deep questions about her biggest obstacles, what's been her biggest highlight in ministry so far, and, of course, WHO she'd want to be stuck on a deserted island with!

Serena Williams said “A Champion is not defined by their wins, but how they recover when they fall.” The Word of God tells us in Romans 3:23 that, “We have all sinned and FALL short of the glory of God.” In this episode, Josh and I are going to get real and raw with some falls we have had. But in true Jesus fashion, whether we were aware in the moment or not, He was right there, guiding, directing, and helping us to turn our defeated days into championship seasons.

In this episode, we are going to invite you into our living room, where we talk through how dreams, specifically this dream, of being amateur podcasters became a reality, and what we hope to charge you to champion in this season of Charge the Champion. 

A wise mentor of mine once said "History will be kind to me, because by the grace of God, I will write it." In season 1 of Charge the Champion we are going to be reliving some of the most defining moments of our childhood, adolescence, marriage and our lives. We will discuss how God has given each of us the ability to live each day intentionally and on purpose despite the ever-changing or seemingly never changing circumstances around us. So, together, let's pause, take a look back, and use our individual histories to move forward and charge the champion in you to make the next chapter of your life the best one yet.
