My book addresses our experience of living six blocks from the World Trade Center during the September 11, 2001 attacks. We had to evacuate our home after the second plane flew over our heads while we stood on our 24th-floor terrace. When the buildings came down, we were covered with dust and debris and spent hours outrunning smoke that threatened to asphyxiate us in Battery Park. We were carried off the island of Manhattan by boat in the largest boat evacuation in history and were homeless for almost two weeks before we could get back into our apartment. We struggled with PTSD, unemployment, and health issues in the aftermath. My book about Covid-19 is related to 9/11, in the sense that the toxins from the 9/11 dust compromised my health and likely led to a near-fatal case of the virus. I was hospitalized twice and told I had a 50% chance of survival.
I’ve been given a gift that no one would want — the chance to speak from inside two of the most shattering events to hit our country in the past century. But both calamities taught me that we have an enormous capacity to speak into each other’s lives, and both large and small acts of kindness can alter someone’s future. I want to inspire others by telling stories that include examples of how we can lift each other up. I also founded a non-profit called Loving All Nations after surviving 9/11, which addresses need after man-made and natural disasters around the world.

Sexual Abuse Survivor & Blogger, Patty Cabot, Discusses Her Journey to Resilience
Beginning in her teens, Patty battled drastic weight fluctuations of 50 to 75 pounds every two years. Desperate to break the cycle, in her late 30s she started working with a therapist specializing in eating disorders. Her therapist’s specialty is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a psychotherapy technique that helps people suffering from trauma. Patty was sexually abused by her stepfather and to a lesser extent, her cousin. Despite Patty’s great shame and reluctance to delve into the pain of her past, it became clear that her weight was merely a symptom of the abuse. Over 12 years she worked with a therapist and EMDR, a chiropractor to release trapped “fight or flight” responses, a sex therapist, and attended group therapy for sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is an especially insidious thing because it leaves its imprint on every part of you. Patty accomplished what she desperately hoped was possible but feared was not. Her hope is that others struggling with these issues will be able to see themselves in her and know that all is not lost. Learn more at www.pattycabot.com.

Tapping for Resilience with Dr Katie Nall
During childhood, our guest moved with her mother and two siblings attending 12 different schools in five different states. After leaving home in high school, she lived on the streets sleeping under the bushes until friends figured out her lifestyle. With education as her goal, she finally asked her high school guidance counselor to find her a home to complete high school education. For her senior year, she lived in a foster home. The day after graduation, she flew to San Diego to attend college where she found herself 20 miles away from the nearest college with no car. Undeterred, she hitchhiked back and forth to classes.
Not only does our next guest now have her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education, she also is a TEDx speaker, a professional member of National Speakers Association, and an Accredited Master Trainer and Certified Practitioner in Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) with additional training in trauma, quantum, and picture EFT. Whether in person or online, Dr. Nall shows others how to dissolve their WAFFLES – worry, anxiety, fear, frustration, lethargy, exhaustion, and stress. A careless housekeeper and worse cook with no desire for rehabilitation she somehow is still married to the same person for over 48 years.

Resilience and Inclusion in the Workplace with Julien Lefort, Succes Coach, Trainer and Mentor
For the last 15 years, Julien has worked with both non-profit (AIESEC, Chance UK, Coaching For Everyone) and private sector (Société Générale, Adecco, Thomsons Online Benefits - Mercer group). Originally working in a corporate environment managing Learning and Development functions globally, his job was supporting people in their development as leaders and as individuals, creating programs that would make them shine as employees and make them grow and develop.
After missing an important event in his daughter’s life, and a feeling of being stuck in his work, Julien decided to make the shift to entrepreneurship. As a Success Coach, a Trainer, and Mentor of coaches, he works with a range of truly amazing individuals from coaches to creative entrepreneurs.
Most recently, he has been diving into the correlation between Resilience (specifically in his work as a coach) and Diversity & Inclusion. Even though diversity was always around (he was raised in a french-senegalese family, one of his aunts is from the LGBTQ+ community, he has members of his family who suffered from mental health issues, and now he is married to someone from a different nationality), he still asks himself many questions on the impact he can have, but also whether he is moving in the right direction when it comes to becoming a more inclusive individual. That's when he created a program called Inclusion Coaching for Resilience to support leaders, HR specialists, DEI advocates and ambassadors, teams, etc. to develop their own skills and bridge the gap between awareness and action. This 5-step program aims to accelerate a leader's ability to be resilient through coaching and practicing inclusivity in the workplace.
