Education Unboxed Ep. 3
Conversations with students about how they ended up at Durango Big Picture High School.
Education Unboxed Ep. 2
During this episode of Education Unboxed, I will be speaking to a high school senior about how she chose the best high school for her, how she was able to navigate the school structure and gain the most out of the high school experience.
This is particularly important to me because I feel like middle school doesn't always support students in making the best decision for themselves when choosing a high school. More often than not they just stay on the "traditional train" and go from a traditional middle school to a traditional high school without considering themselves as a learner and how they can best support their future.

“The fact is that given the challenges we face, education doesn't need to be reformed -- it needs to be transformed. The key to this transformation is not to standardize education, but to personalize it, to build achievement on discovering the individual talents of each child, to put students in an environment where they want to learn and where they can naturally discover their true passions,” stated the late Sir Ken Robertson, author and international advisor of education. The benefits of unique and student-directed educational options are that it supports students’ learning beyond academic needs and creates a productive, creative member of society. The philosophies and theories behind alternative campus high schools provide more to create a well-rounded member of a community than traditional education.
Today's episode features an interview with the Superintendent of the Durango 9-R School District, Dan Snowberger. We discuss the benefits of alternative campus learning and making good educational choices for your students.
