S3 E10 Did Jesus Commit Suicide?

For a year or so, I was part of a 5 member men's group. On our last meeting, one of the members commented that Jesus committed suicide. That was the second time I had heard that comment. So, I decided to address this in this episode.

S3:E8.2 Entering Roman Catholicism Remixed

The volume on the original recording for this episode was way too low. So, I remixed it. Much better.

What is liturgy? Coming from an Episcopalian/Baptist/Evangelical/Charismatic background, I was unfamiliar with Sacred Liturgy (commonly called "Mass"). I talk about RCIA, the Liturgy of the Word, being dismissed half way through Mass, and my process of being able to fully participate in the Liturgy with the rest of the church.

In Part 2 I talk about my own musings about Time, St. Augustine of Hippo's thoughts on time, and St. Thomas Aquinas' thoughts on the Eucharistic Sacrifice. I use the Catechism of the Catholic Church to talk about time, and look at some Bible passages that talk about how the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross at Calvary can be timeless. I hope I provide food for thought.

In this episode, I explore what it meant that the Eucharist is a sacrifice, how sacrifice is portrayed in the Bible (both Old and New Testaments), and what sacrifice means for worship. Chasing After God: Episode 25 - Gnosticism, Taoism, and Christianity

As I was moving through various and diverse spiritual traditions, teachings, and practices, I was having to integrate what I was learning into something that would work for me. Early Christianity and the Gospel of Thomas lead me into Gnosticism. I then learned that Carl Jung was also a student of Gnosticism. Aikido lead me to Taoism, and i discovered a connection to Christianity. Perhaps I was getting muddled in my thinking. There was one more piece to add to the puzzle that I will talk about soon.

It's Not About Me, It's About Us: Bradley Smith

In High School, my family decided to join a Baptist Church. It was in the country, and so families from all over attended. The kids my age came from two High Schools, Placer and Del Oro. I was in Placer, and Bradley (Brad) was in Del Oro. We became friends though the church youth group, but lost touch after our Senior Year. It was great to spend some time with him.

Episode 36: Season One Finale - Childhood Stuff

Here we are at the end of Season One. I started on February 1, 2020 just talking about my life and some of the things I have learned as I reflect upon my past. Then Covid-19 became a part of our lives and "Stay At Home" became a way of life. With the discovery of online opportunities to talk with people, on April 4, 2020 I started a sub-series called "It's Not About Me, It's About Us", and began a conversation with my friends as guests. Now, My Life is about both personal stories and chats with my friends. It's been helpful to know that people were listening, because I could imagine talking to you.

Now it's time to take a break and prepare for something new in Season Two. I plan on finding some new music, learn new software for post-production (what is a DAW?). I'll also use the next couple of months recording a new sub-series called "Chasing After God". It might not be everyone's 'cup of tea', but perhaps it will be of interest to some.

I met Uli in 1997 and we became friends, eventually renting a house together with 2 then 3 other adults. My kids moved in eventually also. One day, we got a notice that the owner was going to do some work on the house in order to sell it, and we had to move. Uli and I, with the kids, ended up living together for awhile. After Uli moved out, I lost track of him, and we only got back in touch recently. It was good to renew our friendship.
