Rattle the World: Uniting Communities through Kindness and Music

Kathy shares her journey of how God led her to start Rattle the World, an organization that aims to bring people together and promote unity through kindness and music. Inspired by the divisiveness in the world, Kathy felt called to make a difference and prove that it doesn't matter who we are, God created us all in his image.

The Rattle the World for Unity concert is scheduled for August 26, 2023, at the UW Panther Arena in Milwaukee. Carrie and Shawnee welcome the audience to a special episode of the Christian Rocketeers podcast. They discuss their project Mercy's Light family, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those in need in Kenya. Carrie explains how she got started traveling to Kenya in 2008 with her church. She further explains that she was not a churchy person, and that her upbringing in church made her feel like she was never good enough. They explain that their journey is outlined in Carrie's book, From Lawyer to Missionary, and talk about how the organization is helping those in need in Kenya.

The speaker recounts their experience with church growing up. They were not impressed, feeling like it was a place of judgment and not refuge. One day, a friend from out of town wanted to go to church and the speaker went along begrudgingly. They were surprised to find that the church was open, welcoming, and addressed real life issues. It was through this church that the opportunity arose to go to Kenya. Carrie was hesitant, but ended up going to the meeting and knew right away that they were going. Their son ended up deciding to go with them as well.

Carrie Reichartz is the author of From Lawyer to Missionary: A Journey to Kenya and Back Again. She first heard of the need to provide support for pregnant and abandoned girls in Kenya when traveling to Kenya. She spoke to many people including government officials, lawyers, psychologists, pastors, people running children's homes, and women from the village. Carrie realized that many of these girls were coming to her in situations of rape, sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. Many of their own fathers had gotten them pregnant and then abandoned them due to poverty and lack of resources. Carrie had previously been an award-winning lawyer, but God called her to step away from that career and build a crisis pregnancy and maternity home in Kenya which is now a refuge providing a light in the darkness.

Shawnee Penkacik and her business partner Carrie Reichartz, a retired lawyer and nonprofit coach, discussed the concept of a manifesto, which outlines what a business stands for and against. They wrote a Christian Rocketeers manifesto to quickly skyrocket their Christian nonprofit clients to the next level of success in building their nonprofit. The manifesto was written before they got in front of their clients and focused on the pieces and parts that would bring the most success. 

The manifesto was a statement of their beliefs and a promise to their clients that they would deliver results.  The manifesto emphasizes working with God, not by yourself, and taking daily steps to quickly build and share the purpose that God gave you. It encourages people to stand firm in faith and to live out God's Word in order to see Jesus save, change and transform lives daily. It also stresses the importance of having funding to do what God has called you to do - as God will provide it.  The conversation focuses on the importance of profit for a successful Christian nonprofit.

Shawnee Penkacik and Carrie Reichartz are the hosts of the Christian Rocketeers podcast. They have recently relaunched the podcast and are excited to share their new direction. The mission of the podcast is to help those who are thinking about starting a nonprofit but are scared and don't think they have the money, time, or ability to do so.  Carrie shares that God spoke to her when she was opening Mercy's Light Family, a maternity home in Kenya, and told her to write out her journey for others. She was in the process of writing a book about the work she was doing and then realized it was actually about helping others start nonprofits.   The podcast is the result of God's guidance, and they hope to provide encouragement to those who are hesitant to start a nonprofit or are struggling in the journey.   Shawnee and Carrie have been praying for the launch of their new Christian Rocketeer podcast. They opened the podcast by reading from Luke 10:2, which talks about Jesus sending out workers into the harvest. The speaker details how she had a dream about wheat which she believes was God leading her to start Christian Rocketeers to help others with funding and so much more. The podcast is meant to help people who are on their own nonprofit journey but have not been able to get the traction or funding they need to get to the next level.
