It was developed and created during 2020-1 during the Covid19 pandemic by Laura Phillips from Derby Museums and Rachel Howfield Massey from Arts Derbyshire and Other Ways to Walk.
Laura and Rachel volunteer as East Midlands Champions for Culture Health and Wellbeing Alliance, representing museums and arts respectively. They are passionate about supporting artists and practitioners working in the liminal space of arts and health to thrive and feel supported.

In this episode, Kiz Bangerh of CIC Hip Hop Heals interviews voluntary, East Midlands champions for the Culture Health and Wellbeing Alliance, Rachel Howfield Massey and Laura Phillips. Rachel and Laura answer questions about why they decided to podcast (under the expert tutelage of Kiz!) and what they hope for the future of the network in the East Midlands.
Kiz Bangerh is Founder of of Hip Hop Heals whose mission is to reduce mental health inequalities for disadvantaged groups. It uses Therapeutic Hip Hop as an art-based alternative to medication, combining MC culture with poetry therapy techniques.

SEND Project Nottingham - Moon Cavanagh
The SEND Project is a community arts organisation based in Sneinton, Nottingham, providing workshops, courses and bespoke projects to young people and vulnerable adults across the East Midlands via outreach work, or through projects. SEND was established in 2005, and has grown organically through adopting a local, community-based focus. Many of the staff and volunteer team live in the area and this creates a warm, positive environment for collective and individual development

Permission to dance - the spirit of East Midlands Caribbean Carnival
Rachel Howfield Massey and Laura Phillips are joined by Charis Betts and Sam Carnival to talk about the spirit of Caribbean Carnival, its local, regional, national and global links and the healing potential of Caribbean Carnival Arts.
Charis is the founder of Spice Queen productions, based in Leicester and working nationally and internationally. She is a costume designer and maker, and delivers workshops in costume making, dance and fitness. spicequeenproductions.co.uk
Sam volunteers as part of the team that creates Derby Caribbean Carnival leading the troop of children and young people. Sam designs and creates costumes and has searched for inspiration, and taken her carnival making, worldwide. Derby Caribbean Carnival was founded and is led by Derby West Indian Community Association, and is part of the East Midlands Caribbean Carnival Arts Network.

The Road Never Ends: Aaron Broomfield
Making Change Studios is a creative hub to give voice to marginalised people, particular people living with mental ill health. Partnering with NHS, the Criminal Justice System and voluntary organisations they support people to create stories and decrease stigma, through mentoring, training, podcasting, performing.
