Reboots/Remixes/Recycled Content...We love it...we hate it....we love to hate it! Bringing back Cinema bunday monday for season 3 with a chat with my wife, Kim, about non original content in film & TV. Is there any merit in recycling content? Is it always a cheap cash grab? ...Better late than never, eh? Yes I recorded this a few days after Halloween and am releasing it a few days before Christmas. Grad school man, what can I say? ANYwho, I wrap up my Octoer viewing movies and chat with my beloved Alea about the book to film adaptation of Something Wicked This Way Comes. And we delight in Will's warning to Jim to stay away from horrible demon fingers. It's a treat worth the delay. (sorry!)

I totally forgot to note how the losing of one's face over time plays into the identity loss that can come with trauma. ANYWHO..always more to say! That's when you know you've got a great film/TV show. What'd y'all think? Is anyone watching Flanagan's newest show, "Midnight Mass"? It's once again Fall, y'all. Or summer still? idk. Regardless, we're starting our October horror and spooky watch list early this year with "Spooktember." We have one spooky fun, family safe list for the halloweenies who aren't here for nightmares, and another scary scary pee your pants list. let us know what you're watching this fall! I also just started Only Murders in the Building, but I hardly think it qualifies as fall viewing? Only two eps in though, maybe it gets murdereyer?

Warning: this episode is on the mature side of content; we discuss emotionally heavy material like sexual assault and PTSD.
We are discussing Season 4 of Handmaid's Tale from this spring and how accurately and brutally it depicts trauma responses. This show is gutwrenching and cathartic all at the same time. Incredible acting, cinematography, music choices, writing, etc. etc. Seriously A+ television!

Here's a look back at the best of 2020 TV, or at least the best of what I watched in 2020. This is the last ep of season 1 of Cinema Buns!! WHoooaaaA! I do have one more bonus bun coming which will be my list of least fav tv I watched this year, but other than that, we are wrapping up this marvelous season. Had a lot of fun, a lot of laughs, a lot of learning, and a lot of time listening to my own voice as I edit and thinking, "Why do I never finish a sentence? Why do they just trail........."

This was so fun! And therapeutic =) Molly and I talk about Fear, horror, what scares us, irrational and rational worries, and we share our own screenplays..well rough drafts at least! What'd y'all think? Any backers for our project?

As a weenie, I don't spend much time at all thinking about horror, and I stay away from all things scary. But October is the month to let yourself have some fun, and dip your toes into the world of the supernatural and magical. I learn loads about myself when I examine my fears, and I encourage you to try it as well. What spooks you? Do you know why? Do you like feeling a little scared, as long as you're safely at home and the horror is playing out on screen? Horror is an entirely underrated, overlooked genre. It has a pretty bad rep, mostly bc there is a bunch of duds out there. But there are some gems too! And a good screenplay is good regardless of genre. So c'mon in and join us for a bit! Let us share our spoooooky stories! It's always cleansing to go thru the spooky, ooky, weirdness of October before the feel good, cutesiness of the December holidays.

Herein lies a rather detailed and fully expanded upon analysis of Charlie Kaufman's latest "I'm Thinking Of Ending Things" (available on Netflix). This film was.......thicc with deets, so we thought we'd unpack it for a bit! I realize this is nearly as long as the movie itself, haha, but it was originally 2 1/3 hours that I cut down! Sorry, I'll continue working on being more concise-but I am happy with the outcome. I believe Wifey and I got to some interesting points, and I certainly have a better understanding now of a fairly confusing film. but so brilliant when you examine all the puzzle pieces Kaufman scattered in every line of dialogue! Worth a 2nd and 3rd viewing definitely.

What is the VERY BEST Disney Animated film Poster?? Mary, Larissa, and I toiled away until we agreed upon a winner. And what a winner!!! We are all verrry pleased with the final champion of this mega bracket. 56 disney fully animated films to discuss. 3 hours worth of recording ( I edited down to an hour forty, ya welcome!) brought about some great chats on what makes a poster good, which posters were the most memorable, why some posters fell flat, and how poster styles change over the span of...82 years? Wow!

I know it's a longer ep guys....I tried to pepper this month with some bonus mini buns every friday for those who have a shorter work commute and need just a (sound) bite! As promised...THE BONUS EP! So this is something the Wifey and I recorded back in....March or April? and we have been waiting for the right time to share. I wanted to make sure Cinema Buns was up and running first, but now that we have 101 likes on our facebook (!!!!AHHHHH!!!) we are feeling like celebrating!! Movie recs for whatever you're going thru! We asked four women what movies they'd pick for the Inside Out Challenge (Movies for Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger), and this is our second week of responses. Last week we talked to Stephanie and Alicia in Cali, and this week it's Lynn in Fl and Kate in Co.

Now, one small thing did go wrong....the entire interview with Lynn got deleted =( SADNESS!! Now I know that you can't split a Garageband file in two by copy and pasting without losing the original audio. YIKES. I am quite sad because Lynn gave a lovely interview and I immensely enjoyed our chat!! I did my best to recap what we talked about, but it's not the same. Sorry Lynn, and sorry Bunnies!!! my small way of making it up to you is to release ep one of my secret BONUS series this friday!!! Keep an eye out for that!! Very exciting!! I will still be releasing regular Cinema buns every Bunday Monday, but occasionally I will be dropping shorter bonus eps as well. YAY!!!

Movie recs for when you're feeling any certain way! I came up with the Inside Out challenge to provide options for movies we can all pop in when we are having certain feelings.
I asked FOUR awesome women of different backgrounds across the US to  share their picks for a challenge that’s sweeping the nation!!!(jk, I  just made it up)

😁Joy: a happy time movie that makes you leap around to think about. Your pick me up flick that brings smiles every viewing.

😭Sadness:  movies that you watch and know will make you cry. We all need a  melancholy, feelingsy afternoon once in a while sipping tea and watching  the rain. These movies are there to be a cathartic release when needed.

😳Fear: scary movies help us get a good rush of spooky without the fear of real danger.

=( Disgust:  movies to stay away from! Sometimes an anti-recommendation helps just  as much as suggestions of what to watch. Maybe these films were  overhyped, or the trailer promised something it didn’t deliver.

😡Anger:  a little righteous anger helps change the world. These movies rile you  up about a cause, and help educate us on topics we were previously  unaware of. Could be a good documentary, or a historical film that sheds  light on an issue that lights a passion in you.

We got into such fun and interesting discussions with all of our guests, that it ended up making more sense to split the episode into two. This is part one with Cali gals Stephanie and Alicia, and next Bunday I talk with Lynn in Florida and Kate in Colorado. Thanks ladies for the film chat!!!

I know there's a whole new wave of y'all flocking to musicals right meow(thanks Hamilton), and maybe you're looking for something that'll fit you better than your mama's "Oklahoma". Personally, I grew up on Rodgers and Hammerstein, Fosse, Sondheim, Webber, and all dem "classics", but I know those turned a lot of people away from musicals.
Now, even though I like to throw down with some Fred and Ginger, I also love a NSFW, non-traditional, outta the box, weirdo musical. I brought in my musically inclined, darling friend Miss. Marjorie, to discuss with me 10 out-there musicals. Some we mention as recommendations, some not so much. We wanted to review/preview in a non spoiler way, some irregular musicals that may catch your eye if you're new to the musical world. And what a world!

We lurved the Hulu original movie Palm Springs (2020), and we had a lert to discuss about it! I hope y'all got the heads up last week on our facebook to watch it before today's episode dropped. If not, follow Cinema Buns on facebook to stay in the know. Did y'all enjoy the movie? What do you think about the moral quandaries presented in the film? Did they set them up and handle them well? I strongly rec this film if you like non traditional romance/comedies with one fantasy element...which is my actual fav type of film! Think Wristcutters, Safety Not Guaranteed, About Time, etc.
I love that this didn't get stuck in it's gimmick, but instead used it to tell an awesome story. Good work guys! Meow

Trying to find a title for this episode and a way to talk about this that won't offend anyone...
Yes, I know these two things are totally different, but I watched two shows about one, and two shows about the other, and I wanna compare how everything was presented and handled. I'd LOVE any constructive feedback, or kind corrections if I flubbed up, but I wanted to talk about this and not let my fear of offending stop me. This last month I watched Atypical, Everything's Gonna Be Okay, Speechless, and Special. Here are my thoughts on those shows! Thanks guys

Our first ever 3 person episode! Two Sci-Fi loving Sisters join us this week to discuss Joss Whedon's TV series Firefly, and the following movie, Serenity. A Lot of my love for the show came from hearing how much these sisters enjoyed it growing up. When Kim told me she was naming her baby Mal, I knew the show was in need of a rewatch! After catching up on the series, and the film, I decided to make this the first of a Cinema Buns series, "Does it Hold up?". Thank you ladies for digging into the show with me!
