Krause House is a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) governed by a community of fans, basketball lovers, and purists. Their goal is to purchase & operate an NBA team as a DAO. Today, Krause House is the first DAO to buy a professional basketball team as owners of the Ball Hogs, an American men's 3-on-3 basketball team that plays in the BIG3 league.

Together, Krause House will write the consensus rules that will bring the first fan-governed team to the NBA. The collective of ambitious contributors whose goal is to own an NBA team describes the underlying mission of DAOs in its purest form: Difficult by one, achievable by many.

Bankless DAO was founded by David Hoffman and Ryan Sean Adams on May 4th, 2021, when they airdropped 35,000 BANK tokens to each Bankless premium subscriber. Following the true ethos of decentralization, they stepped back and let the DAO take shape. While their media company, Bankless LLC, continues to operate as its own media node, the Bankless brand is propagated through the DAO and its sub-DAOs. Now, the Bankless ecosystem as a whole creates user-friendly onramps for people to discover decentralized financial technologies through education, media and culture.

Their mission is to onboard 1 billion people to crypto. The nodes in their growing ecosystem collaborate to create user-friendly onramps for people to discover, use, learn, and enjoy the benefits of Web3.

The Dfinity Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was created to support and promote the development of the Internet Computer, a decentralized computing network. The Internet Computer aims to provide a secure and scalable platform for building and hosting applications, services, and websites without relying on traditional centralized infrastructure.

The Dfinity Foundation was founded in 2016 by Dominic Williams, who also serves as the chief scientist of the organization. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland. The foundation has played a central role in the development of the Internet Computer and has been responsible for coordinating the project's research, engineering, and community-building efforts.

The Internet Computer utilizes a blockchain-based protocol called the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) to enable decentralized computation and data storage. It aims to provide a seamless and open internet environment where developers can create and deploy applications with ease. The protocol introduces concepts such as "canister," which represents an autonomous smart contract that can interact with other canisters and external systems.

Kleros is a decentralized dispute resolution protocol that uses blockchain technology to provide a transparent, efficient, and affordable way to resolve disputes. The protocol is built on the Ethereum blockchain and uses smart contracts and a decentralized network of jurors to arbitrate disputes.

With Kleros, anyone with an internet connection can submit a dispute and have it resolved quickly and fairly by a group of randomly selected jurors. They are particularly well-suited for resolving disputes in the digital realm, such as disputes over online transactions, smart contract disputes, and disputes related to digital identity and reputation. However, it can also be used to resolve disputes in the physical world, such as disputes between landlords and tenants or between buyers and sellers.

Overall, Kleros aims to provide a decentralized and trustworthy alternative to traditional legal systems, allowing people around the world to access justice in a fair and transparent way. They are also the winner of the Blockchains for Social Good Prize from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program.

Kift DAO is a non-profit that aims to purchase real estate for the use and enjoyment of the Kift community. It is controlled by NFT holders, who select and vote on proposals, including which real estate properties to buy. Their mission is to create inclusive, community-owned gathering spaces for people who choose to live communally and work from anywhere. They are always looking for active community members to contribute to the development and management of the DAO.

Matt is one of the Co-Founders of Origami, which helps ambitious communities create the world’s most valuable DAOs. Origami supports these groups through their open and effective framework for growing DAOs. Matt and his Co-Founders got together to talk about crypto projects, fun NFT investments, and what would happen if networks could be owned and governed by people, instead of corporate giants. To organize their relationship, they formed a DAO called Orange. The early days were full of challenges, while complying with regulations, creating a scale system to ensure thousands more founders could join, and keeping their Discord from melting down to chaos.

As they overcame each challenge, Orange DAO grew to over 1,300 founders, raised $80 million, and invested in over 130 crypto projects. They even created a Fellowship program to educate future web3 entrepreneurs. As it all came together, other DAO creators asked for advice. They need guidance, introductions, documents, and user-friendly software. That’s why four of the DAO creators founded Origami. They realized that together, they had all the skills needed to help other communities create and grow their DAOs.

Deepa Chaudhary is a Builder in Impact DAO Media and they have written the Impact DAO Book. It is a book written by a DAO for those who want to build their own DAOs. An Impact DAO is focused on creating positive externalities. In other words, its purpose is to improve the lives of people and the planet. Impact DAOs offer a radically new way of organizing, fundraising and allocating resources for causes. They are a new operating framework for our digital lives. Also, the goal of this book is to provide a reliable snapshot of the current state of Impact DAOs.

Arvin Khamseh is a globally recognized thought leader in the crypto space. His impressive background in investor relationship marketing for public companies combined with his success in NFT marketing has led to an international reputation for excellence. Our guest for today is Denys from Satoshi Island. Denys is head of operations for all things on the ground, taking care of the arrangements needed for the physical development of the island. Mayur is a multidisciplinary design engineer who is passionate about integrated design solutions for the built environment along with a better lifestyle and experience of occupants. He became the first civil engineer to be awarded IIT Bombay Tech Person of the Year Award and represented India at Solar Decathlon China competition. In his leisure time, Mayur is usually busy working on passion projects and solving challenging problems.

Carl is a Software Engineer for over twenty years, specializing in highly scalable web services and applications. He is especially interested in blockchain technology and smart contracts. Carl used to be a part of the Amazon Web Services as a Senior Solutions Architect and Blockchain specialist. He is also the Co-Founder of Blockscale LLC, which provides highly-available, reliable, and scalable blockchain services for crypto projects. Blockscale has led the deployment of the Tezos Foundation's baker infrastructure during their mainnet launch, and continues to maintain it today. They have also released open-source projects and tools for Ethereum and Tezos. Blockscale was recently acquired by Coinbase.

Andrew has a project called Montanoso wherein he bought 21 acres of land outside Austin, Texas in order to build a village DAO. We will talk to him about this awesome crypto co-operative project in the heart of Texas Hill Country. Montanoso is an experiment in crypto governance. They are creating a traditional village surrounded by a managed ecosystem and they aim to promote crafts, arts, and intellectual development. The plan is to build a dense village on top of a hill, inspired by towns such as Monteriggioni. The buildings will be semi-traditional designs and made from long-lasting materials. They will experiment with generative design in collaboration with craftspeople and artisans. Currently, Andrew is looking for long-term residents who are aligned with the vision of building and living in a traditional town.

Zach Caceres is a software engineer and technology consultant focused on early-stage companies. Startup Cities is written by Zach Caceres, often known on the internet as zach.dev. Ten years ago, he coined the term “Startup Cities” to describe neighborhoods and cities built by startup companies. From 2012 to 2016, he co-founded and led the Startup Cities Institute, an interdisciplinary research group, at Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala City.

Zach has spoken around the world on Startup Cities, alternative education, and programming for venues ranging from the Singapore National Library, the St. Gallen Symposium, The Gruter Institute for Law and Behavioral Sciences, MIT Global Startup Workshop, college clubs, entrepreneur's groups, government delegations, the Yandex corporation, ClassCentral, and more. Zach’s work has won multiple awards and has been published by Palgrave MacMillan and Routledge. Specializing in compliance, Ryan lends his expertise to the online-commerce field and high-risk environments.

Jonathan Hillis is the co-founder of CabinDAO, an online and IRL community using blockchain technology to help creators make a living online. After spending his younger years building technology products in Silicon Valley, he relocated back to Austin, Texas amidst the pandemic. There, he built a container home on the property, which is considered as the first “node” in the CabinDAO network. Jon invited a group of people, along with his future CabinDAO co-founder, Zakk Fleischmann, to stay in the container home cabins. This is where they hatched the idea of CabinDAO.

Today on our CityDAO Podcast, we have Senator Chris Rothfuss from the State of Wyoming. Chris Rothfuss is the Senate Minority Leader of the Wyoming Legislature. He was first elected in 2010 and represents Senate District 9 in Laramie, Wyoming. Senator Rothfuss co-chairs the Wyoming Blockchain Select Committee and serves as the ranking member of the Education Committee and the Minerals, Business, and Economic Development Committee. Also, one of his sponsored bills is the Wyoming Stable Token Act.

In addition to his legislative responsibilities, Senator Rothfuss is an advanced technology consultant and a visiting Professor for the Honors College at the University of Wyoming. He holds a BA in International Studies and an MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wyoming; an MS in Applied Physics and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington.

Favian is a huge evangelist of van life and he is in the process of starting VanlifeDAO.

The Citizen’s Series is where citizens of CityDAO become a guest on this show and we get to know them a little bit more. Based in Bangkok, Thailand, Elmo is a very active CityDAO citizen who can usually be seen at our CityDAO discord channel. Elmo has been recently elected as one of the CityDAO Council Members and he was the most voted candidate during the election. Aside from being a CityDAO citizen and council member, Elmo is a freelance tutor teaching high school students in Thailand.

One of the greatest things about CityDAO is that it has a diverse geographic location of its citizens, which means that people from all across the world can own legally enforceable governance rights over this piece of land that we purchased in Wyoming. This is the first time that it has happened at this level and everyone in CityDAO is very excited to be a part of this project.

Erick Gavin is the Executive Director of Venture Miami, an ecosystem builder, and strategist. While attending law school at the University of Miami he set his sights on technology. His experience and connections in the legal community afforded him the opportunity to make a meaningful pivot into the technology space with a new lens. He spent the next few years working in Product Design and doing Data Analysis merging the two into a specialization in Data Visualization. As such, he began teaching about leveraging data for social impact to students at Watson Institute and Design Thinking through the University of Miami.

Erick now focuses on leveraging Data and Design to solve complex problems, create impactful technology, and serve communities that have been historically left out of the innovation and technology space. He remains aligned with these goals through investments in purpose-aligned education, access to growth opportunities, and a commitment to collaboration towards audacious community goals.

Adam Miller is the Co-Founder of MIDAO.org, which helps DAOs incorporate in the Marshall Islands. MIDAO helps DAOs incorporate in the only jurisdiction that explicitly recognizes the unique structure of DAOs and ensures limited liability to its members. Adam previously founded DAOPlatform.io, providing strategy and technology consulting to help others launch & operate DAOs. He has invested in public and private companies, founded start-ups, and held executive leadership and board positions at small businesses. Adam is also passionate about supporting social causes and serves on various non-profit boards.

Adam spent 6 years in Emerging Technology Research at Capital Group, a global investment management firm with over $2T in assets under management. He started his career investing in and founding several social web platforms, including StudyAbroad101. He has a BS in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and certificates in Cybersecurity from UC Irvine and Cryptocurrencies from MIT Media Lab.

Today on the second episode of the Citizen’s Series, we have Nico & Dylan who are very stoked and excited to be in this show. Nico has just been voted as one of the CityDAO council, which has been totally unexpected for her. Part of the decentralization process of CityDAO is to put up a Citizen Council that will give more empowerment to the community and represent the majority of votes. Aside from being a CityDAO citizen, both Nico and Dylan are members of the Mars College program.

Dylan used to work for a Fortune 500 Company doing government contracts but he got burnt out and decided to look for more adventure in his life. With his pursuit for a more fulfilling life, Dylan joined a small organic farm and enrolled in the Mars College program. After spending two months in the organic farm, he became interested in DAO, which eventually led him directly to CityDAO.

Nico is a video game developer, making Augmented and Virtual Reality games. The pursuit for technological advancement excites her but she is also very much interested in the philosophical and spiritual pursuit of humanity. She became interested in Web 3 and crypto just recently and this led her to Mars College and CityDAO.

Greg is the original lead developer of CityDAO. Ever since that fateful tweet last summer, Greg has been tirelessly working to make the technical aspects of this venture become a reality. For this interview, Eric provides more interesting questions that give more clarity towards the CityDAO project. Greg shares his views and opinions about DAOs, NFTs, and the CityDAO project itself. He also offers some advice and recommendation to the CityDAO citizens and how they can contribute to this awesome project.

You hear a lot of talk about the metaverse, which is cool, but the physical world is where we live, the physical world is where we operate, and if we can more closely tie that with the digital world, that opens up a lot of possibilities in terms of interoperability and how creative I can get with my physical ownership.”

Justin Kalland is the first founding citizen of CityDAO. He is also a member of the CityDAO core team. Justin is passionate about technological applications that can help improve humanity and our home. Through the years, Justin has built successful tech startups that focus on people, culture, and team empowerment. Being the CityDAO founding citizen, he has been heavily involved in the project.

In this interview, Justin offers more insight about CityDAO and the DAO space in general. He shares some valuable information that can help people understand what a Decentralized Autonomous Organization is all about. Justin is currently the CTO at eve, which provides event cancellation insurance for events. He has also been involved in Empire Minecraft, GameLoot Inc., and GSN Games.

Scott Fitsimones is the Founder of CityDAO and the Co-Founder and CTO of AirGarage. His previous working experiences include being a Production Engineering Intern at Facebook, Software Engineering Intern at CERN, and iOS Engineer at MobilBytes. Today, he is putting land on-chain at CityDAO and building better cities at AirGarage. Usually, Scott writes about cities, crypto, and mechanism design. He also believes in building things you want to exist and writes about the things you want to change.

CityDAO is building a network of assets on-chain, starting with a single parcel of land in Wyoming. Each parcel of land is an NFT that can be owned collectively by the DAO or by individuals. It is a DAO, or Decentralized Autonomous Organization, meaning it is managed by the community. It is also a DAO for decentralized asset ownership.

The goal of CityDAO is to be able to buy land all over the US and world. They are starting in Wyoming because of the state's new 2021 DAO law, which recognizes DAO governance of LLC corporations.
