Here's how you do it. The first step is to determine why the decision will make a difference to you your team or family. Next, gather information so you can make the decision based on facts and data. Ask yourself what you need to do to make the right decision and who needs to be involved. Now you are ready to consider the different options. This will determine which course of action is best to achieve your goals. Then weigh the evidence. Determine the pros and cons and select the option that has the highest chances for your success . Even consider getting a second opinion for a new perspective. Now you can make the decision. Take heed. Planning without action is futile and action without planning is fatal. After 40 years of research social scientists have discovered a formula for happiness. They attribute happiness to three major sources: genes, events and values. It’s reported that about half of our happiness is hard-wired in our genes. Another 40% of our happiness is based on events. Coach Adrean's FIT Tip : The Torture of Distortions
Do you know someone who always seems to jump to conclusions, and it causes a lot of confusion? Or they misinterpret a phrase and are convinced that you meant it in a certain way and that clearly wasn’t your intention. You’re not crazy. It’s possible that their thoughts are cognitive distortions which are ways the mind convinces us of something that isn't really true. What you think and how you think matters. Consider these 3 distortions: (1) Filtering -taking the negative details and magnifying them, while filtering out all positive aspects of a situation. (2) Polarized Thinking. This means things are either “black or white" with no shades of gray. (3) Jumping to Conclusions Remember, what you think you become; what you feel you attract; what you imagine you create. Coach Adrean's FIT Tip : The Norm To Conform
A hidden camera experiment was conducted to see if most people conform to the behaviors of others. The goal was to see if a woman (who was being monitored without her knowledge) would stand up at the sound of a tone simply because everyone else stood up. Surprisingly, after just 3 rounds of witnessing others stand up at the sound of the tone, she conformed perfectly to the group without even knowing why. Jonah Berger of the University of PA explains that this internalized form of behavior is part of social learning which starts at a very early age. Conformity not only effects how you act, but similar forces are subconsciously shaping the way you think.
