Coming Out Of the Kitchen

Coming Out Of the Kitchen

By Coming Out Of the Kitchen

We started with four generations of women to discuss women's issues, women's equal rights, current events and politics in the United States. If you prefer not to listen to politics, those pods will be called COOK 'N Politics and you can just swipe on past those. Now, for the time being, it is just Cass. Things happen Health, Family, Time constraints, so if you can, bear with me as I attempt to learn this process, solo.

4.7 Roxie with Cass

4.7 Roxie with Cass

Roxie and I sat down to talk about the events that have occurred during our tender years. Please remember that, after years of care for her mother Zelma, her mother passed away on April 13, 2023. This was recorded as Roxie is in the early stages of her grief for her mother. We hope to get together soon to discuss our opinions of the '70's, a pivotal period for women, women who STILL do NOT have equal rights in the United States of America's Constitution.

Sabrina

Sabrina

Sabrina Bonett is just an awesome lady, her story is incredible.. Like she went from a retail clerk to joining the Navy.. And to this day she just keeps giving back to our youth, to educate and direct them to the possibilities to become better citizens. She mentioned several organizations that she is involved with to assist our youth to find their paths in their lives. She is active in bringing diversity into every company that she works for AND we are working on creating a podcast that she can be a future podcast host on, which will allow me/us to bring more information to our listeners. So, as I explained earlier in my last podcast, my struggle with Long CV.... with a new host coming on board, I am hoping to get back on track to providing valuable information to our listeners. I was unable to link her valuable informational links to this podcast, but we all have smart phones and I hope yall can jot down the the groups that she has mentioned in this podcast and find out more information on them.... Notwithstanding, she will be co-hosting with me and I am slowly getting my strenght back so that maybe I can be better at posting links in the future..... I am just trying to keep up and share awesome content.

4. Black History Month: Sojourner Truth

4. Black History Month: Sojourner Truth

I have podcasted about Sojourner Truth in the past, but I think I did a better job this time, with more research.  She was a Pioneer fighting for women's rights only to sadly pass away 37 years before women earned the right to vote.  And still today, 140 years after her death, women STILL do NOT have equal rights in the Constitution of the United States of America.

4.2 Zelma Lorine is 100 Years Old!

4.2 Zelma Lorine is 100 Years Old!

I was So excited to sit with Zelma and her daughter Roxie to listen as they shared their life story with Coming Out Of the Kitchen!  Lorine, as she sometimes likes to be called was 2 YEARS OLD when women won the Right to Vote!  She alive during about 8 of the last wars that the United States of America fought it.  EIGHT!  The Golden Age of Radio hit in the 1920's the decade of her birth, the same decade that TV's were getting off the ground.  So, in my opinion, it was an honor to sit with Miss Lorine and hear her story.

I hope you enjoy as much as I did.  Please rate and review the Podcast so more people can find my podcast and hear her story.

4.1 Happy New Year! Where Ya Been?

4.1 Happy New Year! Where Ya Been?

Season 4 and I am still plugging along, just had a few bumps in the road, but I am back!  I have new artwork for the Show, a wonderful and extremely talented coworker created new artwork for the Podcast! Let me know what Ya'll think of it!

Anchor is the platform that I use to share my Podcasts and While these next 2 Podcasts I don't mention Anchor, I will in the future, because they will pay me roughly $5 an episode and that's the only financial assistance I receive for my work and research. While it is sometimes annoying to hear the Anchor ad, it helps other Wanta be podcasts take a chance and start their own podcast and I get paid $5, lol.

I feel like I will have a better podcast this season, I have separated my Coming Out Of the Kitchen podcast from my COOK'n Politics Podcast so you will no longer have to swipe past the Politics if you aren't ready to follow what our elected officials are doing.

I hope ya'll will reach out to me and tell me how you think I am doing this year, and PLEASE, rate and review my podcasts so other listeners can find the podcast.

Thanks Ya'll

3.10 Jamie Fields at Lost and Found

3.10 Jamie Fields at Lost and Found

I completely enjoyed my conversation with Jamie Fields, Director of Development at Lost and Found, hearing HERstory and learning about Lost and Found.

There are some glitches in this podcast and as I am not a professionally trained editor, here's a heads up.  Sometimes we talk with our hands, and maybe passion was in the conversation so there may be a few "thumps" in the audio that I couldn't edit out without losing the conversation..... The same with "chair farts", the noise made as you shift around in a leather chair...

Potty Word alert.... The B word was used maybe 3 times, I left it in as it goes to content and the passion of the speaker.

I really loved meeting, learning more about Jamie and the fascinating company she is blessed to work for, I hope you enjoy the conversation as well. If you or anyone you know can benefit from the Lost and Found services, Jamie can be reached at:

email: jfields@lostandfoundozarks.com

or check out the Lost and Found website: www.lostandfoundozarks.com

PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO RATE AND REVIEW THE PODCAST, doing so moves it up the line so more people can find it AND...

Reach out to me at my email: comingoutofthekitchenpod.com and let me know about any ideas, suggestions or questions you have.  I will NOT sell or share your email, and you will not receive unsolicited emails from me!

The Experience of a Lifetime: Patsy Mink

The Experience of a Lifetime: Patsy Mink

Honoring and incredible woman, Patsy Takemoto Mink, during Women's History Month. I am in Awe at the challenges she faced, her strength to face them, her amazing accomplishments.  She didn't let racism, male chauvinism, gender bias or dirty backroom tricks hold her back or stop her from achieving the goals she set out to accomplish.

Born in Hawaii, her father, a civil engineer, her mother a stay-at-home mom, Patsy set out into the world with the determination to accomplish all of her goals!

I had some glitches, along with my struggle to pronounce some names, and again, somehow Patsy became "Cathy", wierd.... but I have to say, I am so glad I stumbled upon Patsy Mink, she is someone I could only strive to be like.

Women's History Month/ MO Rep. Hartzler

Women's History Month/ MO Rep. Hartzler

This episode is about our Missouri Representative Vicki Hartzler.  An evangelical Christian, aka Mennonite, a 'family' Farmer who is running for retiring Missouri senator Roy Blunts seat.  Mo. Sen. Hawley has endorsed her.

So, she is a woman who using her Christian values that she has had to change to fit her narrative, to allow her to make rules and laws that Missourians must follow, let's look at that.

side note: for some reason my Microphone recorded 'Cathy' several times when I said Vicki, and I tried to catch them all to reedit...so if I missed a few, 'Cathy' was supposed to say 'Vicki'.

Please, if you listen to podcasts, find: Ordinary equality..... scroll down and listen from the first episode she recorded.  If I could be 1/8th as good as K. Kelly...

Anyway.  send me a note: COOK'n Politics FB page, or..... comingoutofthekitchenpod@gmail.com

Tears are OK - Water Cleanses

In this podcast I interview Debra Walden Davis, a southern Missourian who became an author.  We are discussing her first book.

Every time Debra and I get together to record a podcast we just cannot seem to stop talking and Debra's love of music and movies always stream into the conversation.. Soooo.... I have attempted to incorporate a favorite song of ours by Buffalo Springfield into the podcast and when you get to the end of the podcast, I tacked on an unedited conversation we were having.

I hope you enjoy and remember Debra's book is available on amazon as well as thru direct contact with Debra.  Mention Coming Out Of the Kitchen, and get a discount on a signed book when you order direct from Debra.

20. Tina - In This FKG World

20. Tina - In This FKG World

The only F Bomb in this Pod is in the title, and the one time she used it in the interview.  This is Tina's story, and I don't think she said it, nor I in the Pod, but we all have a story.  It makes us who we are, the Tina's journey in California and her perspective regarding why people do what they do, grounded me.  I thought I had empathy but Tina reminded me, it goes deeper.  We all have a journey, a challenge, pain to mask. Thank you, Tina.

Remember to reach out to me with comments, questions and requests for interviews, I promise I will get better at this with practice!

I will say, there is one bit of conversation that I debated about leaving in, ultimately I left it in.  I was not there when she experienced this, I have my own opinions about the way she chose to frame the conversation, but this is her perspective.

15. The Fountain Cafe with Pam

15. The Fountain Cafe with Pam

I met with Pam at The Fountain Cafe, to discuss her journey from growing up in Fordland to buying her own restaurant.  Pam talked about her upbringing from her mom Gladys, her work ethic, raising children, buying a house and then the iconic Fountain Cafe in Fordland Missouri.

Since we discussed some history of Fordland, I will add a little here.  Fordland, named after J.S. Ford a railroad official named Fordland in 1882.   Fordland is blessed to still have a Post Office in operation from 1882 and still going.  Fordland has the highest elevation in the area at 1604 feet above sea level and was home to a secret Air Force Radar station from 1952-1961.

Our background music will be the sounds from her busy restaurant.

My mission with these podcasts are to find women who are willing to sit down and talk about their life, the hurdles they face, overcome or go around, to get to where they are today.

The important thing I wanted to add is the book I referenced in this podcast.  It is: Shortchanged,  Why Women Have Less Wealth and What Can Be Done About It, by Mariko Lin Chang.  This is a fabulous book with loads of information.  We are working on an interview with a radio "jocky" as well as sending out invites to various other interviewees.  Thank You!
