The Black Sheep Dialogues

The wrap of the series focused on hearing from a segment of the population that doesn't get much airtime.  Aaron McNeill takes us home with wisdom, truth, and grace as we lean into his perspective on the events of this past year, and as we gear up for the election of 2020.  This NC A&T State University senior illuminates his experiences in a way that is uniquely different from the other guests.  Enjoy our conversation!

On part II of this series, I have the opportunity to sit with former student, Joshua Flowers, and discuss the unique challenges during this season.  Politics, global pandemic, racial tension, and Christian fellowship are all discussed in this episode.  Lean in and heed the wisdom of a very observant young man that brings forth an insight on the times with a fresh, godly perspective.  

The kick-off episode to season 2 of TBSD, I am excited to introduce the series The Black Sheep Dialogues - Millennials.  Starting this 4-part series is Alison Larson, college student, artist, friend, and former student of mine sharing wisdom with us in this unique season.  In her words, "Listening is free."  I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed conducting the interview with this young, well of wisdom!

This week I've invited fellow co-laborer in the ministry, Jamila Henry, to the pod to share her perspective as the "only" in the room.  She is uniquely positioned in the space that she finds herself and uniquely qualified to do the work, but she is the only one like her "in the room where it happens."  We discuss the similarities of being the only ones like us in these organizations and what that experience teaches us.

A wonderful conversation with my friend, ally, colleague, and author, Dr. David Docusen.  David is a Black Sheep and has been a leading voice in my community and around our country speaking on his God-given burden of "Neighborliness: Finding The Beauty of God Across Dividing Lines".  David recently had his first book published and is available everywhere books are sold.

Pastor Ray Shawn McKinnon and I discuss what it has meant for us to be Black Sheep in evangelical spaces in our area.  A much needed conversation for me personally and one that will bring encouragement to all that listen.

The Token Confessions crew Sanchez Fair and Cedric Lundy, The Black Sheep Dialogues, and Pastor Ray McKinnon sat down via a Zoom call and discussed a multitude of topics that are pressing in our culture and climate.  Topics include tokenism in the Church, BLM, history, and much more.

Several questions that had been weighing on my wife's heart in light of recent events.  Reflections include flags, statues, racism, family hopes and dreams, and encouragement for the Church.

The Lead Black Sheep, Corey Gaston, expounds on how The Black Sheep Dialogues came to be and why.  He shares background, several truths from God's Word, and gives encouragements for us to ponder.
