Ep. 39 - Get a HR Leadership job with these 3 strategies
As you listen to this episode, consider this affirmation: “I am worthy and deserving of an HR leadership position that pays me over six figures.” Now, do you believe that? Honestly, it took me a while to receive and believe this. For a long time, I was settling. I settled for opportunities that felt comfortable and “safe.” The truth is, you can’t afford to get complacent in our career because your earning potential and skills will suffer. I had to learn how to be confident in my unique strengths and experience. Now, I can confidently communicate my value. I attract six-figure opportunities regularly, and I teach my clients how to do the same thing. On this episode, we discuss how to make this shift, as well as other practical strategies that HR generalists can employ to land HR leadership jobs. I also share details about the 2022 Emerging LeadHER Summit. The Emerging LeadHER Summit is a career and income development event for HR generalists that are transitioning to HR leadership. Ep. 38 - This is how to recruit your next CHRO
Why is it so hard to recruit strong HR leadership? The simple answer is - you’re not attracting top talent. Something about your company is not competitive, and for capable HR leaders, this is extremely important, especially now. The challenges you’re facing around - Building culture in an hybrid environment - Responding to a workforce that’s struggling with burnout - Retaining talent in the ongoing #greatresignation Those challenges are not unique to you - leaders are leaning on their Head of People to figure out creative solutions. In return, HR leaders want to have a seat at the table and to be part of business strategy. In this episode, I explain why it's difficult to hire HR leaders in today's market. I also provide tips on how to overcome those challenges and expedite the search, while enhancing your employer brand.  I help employers develop recruitment strategies to attract and retain diverse leadership. If you need help with this, I'm happy to chat. Sign-up for a complimentary consultation at bit.ly/hiringbycourtney You can also sign-up to participate in the Emerging LeadHER Summit job fair. Sexism, racism, xenophobia, and HATERS try to come for us every day, and we are still thriving. Winning. Living. On this episode, I breakdown why it is not your employer’s job to help you get ahead. Ep. 33 - This ONE career strategy helped me go from generalist to CPO
Yes, that’s right. Me, first generation corporate warrior, made it to the c-suite. Before I cross the 6-figure mark, I didn’t think I was qualified to hold a “director” title. Everyone at that level had 15+ years of experience and none of them looked like me. Then, something changed. On this episode, I talk about how I made that shift. I'm sharing because I want you to know that it's possible for you too. Once I shifted my approach, I learned that I had the ability to fast-track my advancement. I could make myself indispensable by aligning my success with the company’s objectives. In other words, I learned how to communicate how my work makes my employer more successful, more profitable, more efficient. Plus, I do it with a friendly yet assertive demeanor. That’s my leadership brand. Need help building a leadership brand based on your core values, vision and purpose? Let’s connect on Linkedin and chat about it. Ep 27 - Investing in yourself is selfish, and you need to do it
If no one has encouraged you to pour into yourself, this episode is for you. Investing in your mental health, spirituality, healthier diet, career coach - whatever area you want to develop is a POSITIVE thing. You’re probably used to everyone depending on you. You always have to pour into others and rarely make time for yourself. You will reward your friends for winning, but you never take time to celebrate your own wins. Achieving your goals is awesome. Ep. 25 - How to get promoted after a rejection
It’s time to level-up in leadership and compensation! On this episode, we’re talking about how to get the promotion you deserve, after overcoming rejection. That rejection stings so bad that it may have convinced you that you cannot move up. #thedevilisalie I don’t want you doubting your capabilities because of a rejection. The rejection can be attributed to a value misalignment, budget, timing, internal tomfoolery (you know how these people act up!). None of these reasons are a reflection of your tremendous contributions, even though it feels personal to you. When you’re unclear or insecure in your unique value-add, it’s difficult to influence stakeholders. It’s hard to convince them that you should be promoted. In my upcoming training, “Land a $100k Job: Promotions and Salary Increases,” I’ll teach you how to attract these lucrative career opportunities by leveraging your unique strengths and expertise. Once you’re clear on your career and income goals, having strong relationships with key stakeholders helps achieve these goals a lot faster. For me, making the relationships is easy. Ep. 22 - How to demonstrate you're ready for leadership at work
Are you ready for authority, power and influence at work? But unsure how to get to the “next level?” This episode is for you. Before we can get to our “next level” we have to understand what the next level actually looks like and what’s required of us. Going from entry- or mid-level job to a director+ position requires you to use more of your brain power. The higher you go, it’s less about your ability to do mundane tasks. It’s more about your ability to think strategically, influence others to contribute and articulate clear vision for your role and your team. In my “Run the C-Suite’ mentorship program, I teach my clients how to do this in a way that is authentic and effective. The mentorship program is open for enrollment. Ep. 21 - Embracing what you deserve at work and with family
In this episode, I ask you, “what do you deserve?” You know I want you to win in your career, make the money you want - all of the things. For me to answer this question, I have to take inventory of all facets of my life, including career, love life, health, friendships, and more. Before I could articulate what I deserve in my career, I had to come to terms with embracing what I deserve in my love life and with my family and friends. That enlightenment was HARD to face head-on. I share that journey on this episode. This is why I’ve cultivated a community of like-minded, career-driven women. For us to ascend, we have a lot of inner work to do. I hope with this podcast, my Linkedin group, my IG lives and more. My mentorship program is open for enrollment. Ep. 19 - 3 Ways to Increase Your Salary in 2022
This episode is for you if you're overworked and well-liked but getting paid pennies on the dollar! No, not literal pennies. I mean, if you’re getting paid $75,000 a year, and the local market says that most people, doing the same level of work, are typically paid $110,000. That’s a huge gap! But how do you get in this situation? Blame your employer. They love all of the work we do, the energy we bring, but they seem to have difficulty paying Black women the same as our peers… Le sigh. Then, take a look in the mirror. Have you been advocating for yourself? Showcasing your unique expertise so you can attract six-figure opportunities? Or did you settle for this salary because you had to escape your last job...? On this episode, I share advice about positioning your unique strengths to get your own money and start building wealth in our community. My mentorship program is open for enrollment. In this program, I teach clients how to obtain 6-figure leadership jobs. This program is for you if you are ready to step out of your comfort zone and share your leadership brand. Ep. 17 - I learned how to leave past trauma behind, and break glass ceilings
As a first-generation college grad, masters degree holder and corporate executive, I have to navigated unchartered territory many times. Honestly, it has been scary and challenging. On this episode, I talk about the tough decisions I've had to make to survive on my own, living New York City.  In my 20's, I carried a lot of burdens from my past, growing up in a poor neighborhood, losing my mom at 18, being fired unexpectedly. These experiences turned into insecurity. Insecurity blocked me from even imagining I could make $100k+.  Then, I had a life-changing moment where God spoke to me. God told me that I deserve better. On that day, I received the vision and started working on myself. I improved my physical and emotional health. Then, everything started falling into place in my career. I started making closer to $200k in my corporate career and received a new job title. Maybe you resonate with this also. I hope me sharing my journey helps you persevere beyond the insecurity that holds soooooo many of us back. The trauma you've endured is NOTHING to be ashamed of, Queen. Instead of holding it all in, surround yourself with a community of compassionate people that will pour into you. I create this kind of community in my coaching programs and online groups. In the comments below, drop the job title you're claiming in 2022. Let's make it happen. Are you interested in a program that helps women overcome these setbacks and obtain $100k+ job opportunities?
