Lisa Raiola of Hope & Main on Get a Spine, a Chiropractic Society of Rhode Island Podcast

This episode of “Get a Spine” connects with a central mission of the Chiropractic Society of Rhode Island  -- to help Ocean State residents attain better nutrition and work/life balance.

Guest Lisa Raiola is the founder Hope & Main, Rhode Island’s premier culinary incubator, ranking in the top 10% in the country. Since firing up the kitchens for the first time in October 2014, the team has helped launch nearly 200 food and beverage-related businesses, with over 40 graduates now operating out of their own spaces.

Lisa has more than has more than 30 years of experience in program development and advancement at non-profit organizations in healthcare and higher education with a special focus on distributive justice, social responsibility and economic development. Currently she is the VP for Advancement at Roger Williams University. Previously, Lisa was a Clinical Assistant Professor for Community Health and Medical Ethics at the Brown University School of Medicine where she developed and instructed courses in public health research; health promotion and disease prevention; food security and food justice; healthcare financing and system reform; and health disparity and the burden of disease.

If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is that we must be able to depend on each other to protect our health and safeguard the future of our community.

Hope & Main launched “Nourish Our Neighbors” program to address food insecurity during the pandemic.  With the help of our devoted donors, volunteers, and agency partners Hope & Main has now distributed more than 15,000 meals and counting. Every meal reaches a grateful family; a homebound senior in Bristol, Warren or Barrington; women and children seeking protection from domestic violence under the care of the Women’s Resource Center; or a differently-abled adult struggling with food access in a group home managed by L.I.F.E., Inc.

Lisa and host Dr. Michael Gottfried talk about food equity and sustainability.
